  1. Bummer! Hope he returns to the Big Apple (NYC)
  2. I'm looking forward to the special prosecutor's investigation to see what they conclude. I can't say much on the matter, but can say that this ended up horrible about several guys going to a strip club to have some fun. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080427/ap_on_re_us/police_shooting Outcome of NYPD case leads to call for special prosecutor By RICHARD PYLE, Associated Press Writer Sun Apr 27, 6:37 PM ET NEW YORK - A coalition of civil rights advocates on Sunday urged changes in the handling of police misconduct and brutality complaints after the acquittal of three officers involved in the shooting death of an unarmed man on his wedding day. They also called for a permanent state-level special prosecutor to investigate such cases. "The verdict in the Sean Bell case proves it is almost impossible to successfully prosecute cases of police misconduct, especially in homicide cases," said lawyer Norman Siegel, former head of the New York Civil Liberties Union. "The verdict underscores the need for systemic change in the way New York handles these important and at times high profile cases, and to improve community relations," said Siegel, an outspoken advocate on civil rights and law enforcement issues. Three city police officers were cleared Friday in the November 2006 shooting death of Bell outside a night club where he had just left his bachelor party. Two friends were wounded in the volley of 50 shots fired by the undercover officers and two colleagues. The officers charged said they thought they were in mortal danger, but no gun was found in Bell's car. Siegel was joined at a news conference outside police headquarters by state Sen. Eric Adams and retired police officer Marq Claxton. Adams and Claxton co-founded 100 Blacks in Law Enforcement Who Care. Adams, a former police captain, said the state-level special prosecutor's office should be reinstated permanently by law. A previous special prosecutor's office was created by former Gov. Nelson Rockefeller in 1974 but abolished in 1993 by Gov. Mario Cuomo. Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown, whose office prosecuted the Bell shooting case, had said there was no basis for the appointment of a special prosecutor. The special prosecutor should have power to investigate allegations of police misconduct and brutality, as well as corruption, they said. The previous office was created primarily as a result of corruption exposes in the NYPD, and that was its primary focus, Siegel said. "They looked the other way on cases of brutality," Siegel said. Adams also urged passage of legislation to give the state attorney general's office power to take immediate control of a crime scene in cases like the Bell shooting to make sure all evidence is preserved. "I don't believe a police department involved in a shooting should be responsible for the crime scene," he said. Siegel and Adams said they looked for support on the issues from Gov. David Paterson, who recently replaced the disgraced Gov. Eliot Spitzer, saying that as a legislator and minority rights spokesman Paterson had been a strong voice in previous police shooting controversies. Erin Duggan, a spokeswoman for Paterson, said the governor had learned of the proposals only from media reports and would review them. He "takes the issue of police wrongdoing very seriously, but he also believes that the overwhelming majority of police officers perform their duties honorably and conscientiously each and every day," Duggan said. Also Sunday, more than 200 people, including elected officials and civil rights leaders, gathered at the Rev. Al Sharpton's National Action Network in Manhattan to renew calls for officials of the U.S. Department of Justice to bring federal charges against the three officers. ___

  8. I been noticing those NYC condom ads around the city and was thinking; Since it’s a requirement to ban smoking in the bars, clubs, and most restaurants, why not make it a requirement to have those freebies at the same establishments. Yes, us Generation X and Y kids like to get nasty when possible, but it's not like we only need assistance at the bars and clubs. Add those freebies in the bathrooms at our favorite trendy restaurants, sport venues, and of course our favorite Mega theaters where we always take our dates. Who knows who we may meet up at our next recreational event?
  9. I remember his monthly/bi-monthly parties at Twilo NYC on Friday nights. Cool crazy coloful crowd at his parties. He did a gig at Pacha NYC last month, but I hope he plays there more often. Like so many Djs lately, his presence in the NY Club scene has not been frequent. I'm glad to see that he pops up once in a while to play that acid-jazz house music. http://www.myspace.com/djdimitrifromparis
  10. Where you been? Don't love NYC no more kid? Bring your ass back here, the music listeners need you. PEACE! www.myspace.com/armandvanhelden
  11. I think it may be that: Most prefer "Bump" and "..."A board within a board. on this site & since the forum does not cater to the usual Boris, Victor, Jonathan, & Danny events/advertisements like in the past, people have gone to other boards that do cater to those specific DJ events.
  12. Late to post, but here is an google on your search. Have fun and enjoy that Jamaican rum! http://maps.google.com/maps?f=l&view=text&hl=en&q=Reggae+bars&near=Brooklyn%2C+NY&btnG=Search+Businesses

  23. Late news...But I must say this pastor has issues Missing N.Y. Pastor Found in Ohio Strip Club 'Distraught' Reverend Tells Authorities He Does Not Remember 36-Hour Span, 400-Mile Ride By DAVID SCHOETZ March 28, 2008 http://abcnews.go.com/US/story?id=4543722 A pastor whose disappearance from a small town in upstate New York triggered a search by police and the FBI was found earlier today — inside an Ohio strip club. Craig Rhodenizer (WKBW) Police said that when the Rev. Craig S. Rhodenizer, 46, was confronted by an officer, he began crying and said he couldn't remember anything about the 36 hours he was missing. But dancers at the club remembered Rhodenizer. They told investigators that Rhodenizer spent two hours drinking, soliciting dances and making threatening comments. He also said he wanted to take the dancers back to his motel, according to the police report. In his car was a bottle of Bacardi rum. Sgt. Frank Previte, an investigator with the Lewiston Police Department, told ABC News it was one of the most bizarre cases he's seen. "They questioned him a bit. He was very distraught, crying and hysterical," Previte said. "He did not know where he was." Related 'Meltdown': Pregnant Ohio Lawyer Made Up Abduction Rhodenizer was discovered more than 400 miles from his Lewiston, N.Y., home by police in Riverside, Ohio, who were checking out-of-state license plates of cars parked at the club in a high-crime section of the city. When officers ran the New York license plate on Rhodenizer's Toyota Camry, the check showed the pastor as a missing person being sought by New York police and FBI. Riverside police called authorities in Lewiston and were instructed to approach Rhodenizer. The pastor broke down when police asked if he was Rhodenizer, crying and asking about the welfare of his wife and son, according to a Lewiston police report. Ohio police took Rhodenizer to a hospital and towed his car. Previte was relieved the search for Rhodenizer ended safely for the pastor, even if it was under unseemly circumstances. "Regardless, we don't have any indication that a crime has been committed," Previte said. "And I don't see that changing." Susan Rhodenizer, the pastor's wife, told ABC News that the family is making arrangements for her husband to return home.
