  1. “The Gates” is the hottest new place to spend your nights.* Looking past the gorgeous fixtures, full length marble walls, and ornate details (all originals taken from the old Biltmore Hotel), the place is hotter right now than Jack McCollough’s nose…mainly because it hasn’t opened yet.* Last night, I finally made the trip to Chelsea to check out what everyone’s been talking about for weeks for the DO GOOD FEEL GOOD Party (write-up to come).* I was impressed by, among other things, the old fashioned telephone booth with a twist.* It’s for making and receiving cell phone calls! And, if you can set aside your claustrophobia, you will be able to actually TALK instead of TEXT your friend to come meet you.* This will be especially handy in the winter.* If only places had figured this out back in 2002-pre texting, when people actually used their cell phones for talking.
  2. Go HERE for more photos by MARK BYRON and TAG YOURSELF and YOUR FRIENDS! Did you forget all about Cinco de Mayo? Don’t worry, Mexican food and tequila is always in style. If you need some inspiration, check out the party from Rodeo Bar on Wednesday night…
  3. [Photos via Getty] Katy Perry got a mini-sized taste of herself last night at Mr. West nightclub. The singer celebrated the premiere of her new music video, “Waking Up in Vegas,” with PEOPLE Magazine and a SVEDKA Vodka cocktail party. Best friend Rihanna dropped by the party, as well as on again/off again and definitely back on again boyfriend, Travis McCoy. This is the second night in a row Rihanna and Perry hit the town together. More story and photos below… - - The house DJ took requests from Perry and Rihanna, and when Rihanna’s hit single “Umbrella” came on, Perry made the popstar stand-up on the banquette and dance with her. A miniature Perry-look-a-like crashed the event and Perry was thrilled, taking photos with the impersonator and dragging her onto the dance floor. Rihanna, Travis and Perry hung at their VIP table dawning a bottle of SVEDKA Vodka and stayed until the wee hours of the morning.
  4. Go HERE for more photos by STEVEN EKEROVICH and TAG YOURSELF and YOUR FRIENDS! It’s only Wednesday, but we have weekend brunches on our mind.* And, in case you were wondering, Merkato 55’s is still going strong.* As if there was any doubt… Anyway, with the outdoor seating now open, the Koch Brothers have only expanded their brunch kingdom.* Even with competition sprouting up from every corner, Merkato 55, the place that invented the large scale nightclub-during-the-daytime style brunch is holding it’s own. More photos below…
  5. Go HERE for more photos by RACHEL SKLAR! Last night, Taylor Momsen, aka Jenny Humphrey from “Gossip Girl” and her band “The Pretty Reckless” got reckless on stage at the Annex. And Sklar, who was front and center says “they were pretty good” Adding: “I quite liked the speed and sound of their stuff, and Momsen can sing - she belts it out with a rough scratchy punk-rock voice that had a Courtney Love/Kim Carnes/Alannah Myles/Gwen Stefani/Hedwig feel. Plus good energy and presence, especially when you remember that she’s freaking SIXTEEN. Can’t wait for the ep when Little J opens for Rufus! Whoops, other way around” Click below for more photos and VIDEO of Little J rocking it onstage…

  9. Go HERE for more photos by J.T. WHITE and TAG YOURSELF and YOUR FRIENDS. To be fair, it seems Southside isn’t the only transgressor of the no-smoking law that has been in affect for years in our city.* Last Saturday night, we caught several offenders at Mr. West. In their defense, they had a good reason to celebrate: it was their leader, Jordan Harris’, birthday. Still, if you see cameras around, lose the Camel light. More photos below…how many “smokers” can you catch?
  10. [Photos by BILLY FARRELL for PMc] Last night, the city was a buzz with parties (St.Jude’s Gala, Cartier 100th, movie premieres and more), and eye candy galore.* However, the party of the week belongs to the Griffin opening night. Other guests included Nas, Amy Sacco, Maxwell, Rachel Zoe, Adam Hock, Alexandra Richards, Lindsay Price, Nur Khan, Lauren Santo Domingo, Andres Santo Domingo, Elise Overland, Diego Garcia, Andrew Saffir, Daniel Benedict, Jackie Astier, Byrdie Bell, Derek Blasberg, Lyle Maltz, Rory Guinnes, Lola Schnabel, Vito Schnabel, Stephane Marais, Kate Schelter, Chris Schumacher, and Dr. Lisa Airan Kate Hudson, Amy Sacco, Sting, Mickey Sumner Byrdie Bell, Nas Nur Khan, Simon Hammerstein Nur Khan, Adam Hock, Nicoletta Santoro, Amy Sacco, Max Vadukul, Sting Adam Hock Lola Schnabel, Vito Schnabel, Stephane Marais Kate Schelter, Chris Schumacher, Dr. Lisa Airan Rob Wiesenthal, Paige Nelson Nas, Maxwell Alexandra Richards, Amy Sacco, Mickey Sumner Elise Overland, Carlos Mota, Amy Sacco

  15. Look at the awesome idea the people behind the Wednesday night party at Ella’s came up with! Take one ice cream scooper, and one big watermelon and voila! Instant homemade watermelon gelato! It’s been awhile since we’ve checked in on the party at Ella’s and clearly, we’ve been missing out. Click below for the pics from Nicky Digital…
  16. We broke the exclusive on the latest nightclub taking over the old PM space at 50 Gansevoort, The Griffin, earlier this month. Today, we get more news from the inside.* Not only will Griffin open as a nightclub, but they will be opening a cool new lounge in the space with specialty cocktails from the talent behind Milk & Honey and Little Branch lounges and lite bites from the chef at Macelleria. The lounge will be open Monday-Saturday at 5:30pm This is quite the unlikely pairing, though may be just what the space needs to propel itself from the “Just another nightclub in Meatpacking” mindset that many guests who got sweaty at its last club, PM, have set in their heads. The nightclub itself, will be open Wed-Sat with bottle service beginning at 11pm. The opening night party will officially take place tomorrow night, though we hear there is a party there tonight, as well as “soft-launch” parties that took place all weekend. Can specialty cocktails revive 50 Gansevoort?
  17. Pink Elephant is BAAACK! Where did they go? you ask–well nowhere really, but the photo documentation has been MIA, until now. And if there’s no photos of the party, did it ever actually even happen? Today we got our Pink Elephant fever back as we checked in on the site and discovered 15 glorious new albums of debauchery to feast our eyes on. A quick run through turned up this guy, who has clearly just spent the best $2k of his life…. More photos below…
  18. GO HERE for more photos of this event by JERRITT CLARK and TAG YOURSELF and YOUR FRIENDS in the gallery! Last night, The Eldridge played host to a hot party in honor of SVEDKA, the vodka which was recently voted #1 Vodka of 2033. We really have no idea what this means or why this is important, but the one thing we did know is that there was a complimentary SVEDKA bar from 11:00-1:00 am and that DJ Alexandra Richards, DJ Jus Ske, and DJ M.O.S. all took turns on the turn tables. 19. For those of you that care to get a little more news on Griffin, the new club opening in the old PM space that we broke for you last week, here’s some pieces you may have missed from the weekend. At left is the invite to the very first soft launch party that the club hosted last Friday night, in honor of Joel Rousseau’s Birthday. Last night, Ignacio Cipriani held his bday after party at the space late night. The managing partners, Rachel Uchitel (Tao Vegas) and Josh Kaiser (Pink Elephant), along with Hector Longoria (Cain-who is also doorman), have some surprises up their sleeves all month long that we will make sure and keep you on top off. Friends and staff got to break in the new space all weekend long. The official launch will be later this week.
  20. [Michael Hirtenstein, Tyson Beckford, Eugene Remm, Mark Birnbaum The new faces of Hoboken.] Go HERE and HERE for photos from last night’s opening. And TAG YOURSELF and YOUR FRIENDS! Did you happen to catch the fireworks on the West side of the island last night? They were coming from Hoboken and they were in honor of the W Hotel’s opening of The Chandelier Room. Hospitality and nightlife impresarios Eugene Remm, Mark Birnbaum and Michael Hirtenstein of EMM Group threw a STAR-STUDDED celebration for the opening of their newest venue. Infamous boxing announcer Michael Buffer introduced actor/musician Jamie Foxx, who performed songs from his upcoming album “Intuition”. Photos from inside the party below… 90210’s AnnaLynne McCord & Shannen Doherty as well as Make Me A Supermodel’s Tyson Beckford, The City’s Erin Lucas, Rescue Me’s Daniel Sunjata, Pepa of Salt-n-Pepa, The Sopranos’ Robert Iler and New York Giants’ Shaun O’Hara, among many others were treated to a spectacular fireworks display. 21. [Photos via the Blaqlist]Hanging out at Hiro. Take a look at what a typical Saturday looks like at the Hiro Ballroom, on the side of the Maritime Hotel.* The crowd is a little bit different than the one we saw days earlier at Paper Magazine’s Beautiful People Party. Looks like these guys, who are part of the oddly undiversified wait staff, are able to enjoy a nice little break from work with some grey goose. With the temperatures climbing, the Maritime Cabanas upstairs will no doubt, be stealing some guests, and perhaps staff. More story and photos below… Apparently, when things get especially crazy at Hiro, there is a back door through the restaurant kitchen that you can sneak through, as discovered from reading this saavy Gawker commenter. [cdmunch] We wouldn’t want you to miss the hanging girls because you couldn’t get passed the doorman. More photos below…
  22. [Where there's smoke...there's Southside] Southside, the more “upscale” clubby NYU-student version of the former Trinity-frat alumni bar Bella’s has managed to attract the Union Square and UES crowd for some months now.* Is it the presence of DJ Nick Cohen, the ambiance, or the smoking that makes it a draw for these kids?* It’s clearly no longer the defunct Bar Martignetti’s restaurant upstairs which floundered under neglect and a weak menu offering.* Although Mayor Bloomberg outlawed smoking in public establishments ages ago, perhaps the boys Martignetti are between a rock and a hard spot like other club owners in the city.* If you charge people $1500 dollars a table, you pretty much have to let them do what they want right?* More photos after the jump…
  23. 173 Mott st. If it’s walls could talk, they’d have some pretty interesting stories to speak of.* Once home to Double Happiness, the space was bought by Emma Cleary in the hopes of turning it into Femme Fatale, an ultra exclusive girls-only-membership club.* Femme Fatale was a fatal failure-it never happened.* Alas, Cleary and company are set to open a new lounge in the space by early summer, and this time they mean business. Here are a few construction photos from inside the space: No word on the chef just yet, but expect a gastro-pub style menu upstairs, with lounge concept downstairs. They are currently welcoming suggestions for a name so feel free to comment… Emma Cleary via NY Mag
  24. Where is the most fitting place to celebrate earth day you ask? Greenhouse of course! We’re not sure how successful Greenhouse nightclub is in helping you reduce your carbon footprint, but we do like the fact that they are going to be donating your valuable booze money to the Nature Conservancy.* That red bull and vodka could be responsible for planting one of the billion trees the organization is working on, which will restore 2.5 million acres of the endangered Atlantic forest of Brazil. One Dollar. One Tree. One Planet. Don’t Drink and Bike. [How To Reduce Your Carbon Footprint] [How To Buy A Bicycle In NYC]
  25. The Cobrasnake has seen some pretty ridiculous sneaker parties, but the latest “Adidas Animals” batch takes the cake. Balloons, a fully stacked Belvedere IX Bar and some of his most fashion forward friends were involved. Just looking at the photos makes you cooler… - - - More photos below…
