i don't exactly understand how anyone, especially joeygk, could look like that squirrel. i must be missing an incredibly clever inside joke :worry: .

but i think i may be approaching some level of dj whoredom... paul van dyk had absolutely no sex appeal at all to me until i realized what a goddamnmotherfucking(welllet'shopenot)genius he is. now, if he isn't the cutest little thing, well, gosh-golly-gee-whiz :love2: . uh-oh - i think it's setting in...

i saw a link with pics to pvd's show in LA last Sun..I'm trying to find it..ugh..or did I already post it? I cant remember..I am having memory lapses...I'll see if I can find it it and post it up...

Oh, Joey looking like a squirrel. Everytime weve hung out, I swear that he's running around all over the place. At a small place like Vinyl or even a bigger place like Buzz you can go from one room to another quite fast, but back during WMC at Billboard live, where they had 3 rooms with dj's going on at the same time, Dave Seaman and Steve Lawler and Pappa on one floor, Parks & Wilson on the main floor and Lee Burridge in a smaller loungie room, to go from one end of the club to the other it was quite a walk yet he spent almost the entire night running all over the place...he made me dizzy.

well, i can't talk smack about those pics 'cause gallic is on the board, but they are most disappointing (by the way, gallic, where's your review :) ?) . it's not his fault, though; it was very hard to get decent pics in that place, with all the f'-ing smoke!!! (and there is one in there of paul looking very humble and cute - you caught the essence of him exactly :) .)

i was thinking about the pink panther the other day!!! i met someone who looked like peter sellers but hadn't heard of him when i told him he looks like him. i sang him the song, which he recognized, but he hasn't had the joy of seeing any of the movies. i should see those again, too. but, on the subject of peter sellers, who i love, you really should see him in "the party," if you haven't. hilarious  .

yeh, those pics are kinda sketchy at best ;)

but they are the only ones i've seen posted around, i just cant imagine why pvd was slotted to be playing at that time. but never the less theyre nice pics.

"the party?" yup i've seen that movie, its so hillarious  . those movies from back then were just money IMO, or maybe i just pee'd in my pants from laughing so hard because i was a kid, but those were damn good movies.

but back to the "whatever happened?" topic, i was in the supermarket today, and discovered that chef boyardee no longer makes pasta in those little shapes with meatballs anymore! you know their version of spaghetti-os that was much, much better?! spaghetti-os still exist, and their letters and numbers, but the chef only makes ravioli, beefaroni, lasagna... and what's up with lasagna in a can, anyway? i mean seriously, who does he think he's fooling, here. i want my old chef back :( .

kevin nealon? what's he up to these days? i see him on snl reruns and am reminded of just how fuckin' funny he was. i loved "mr. no-depth perception." and his subliminal editorials were great, not to mention his reign as the weekend update newscaster in general - one of the very best. he did the deadpan thing better than most i've ever seen. he should be somewhere in the spotlight. anybody know where he is?

that, "hey, vern!" it's ernest guy? i know, towrds the end he got kinda weird, but that show he had on saturday mornings was dopeass. did anybody else watch this? every week, he'd go to the barber, turn around in the chair after his haircut, with a new gag. "i said make me look like a wall street tycoon," he'd say, "not a hot air balloon." and there'd be a hot air balloon on his head, complete with clouds. and every week it was something rhyming with "wall street tycoon." what'll it be this weekend? my brother and i would always wonder. it was almost as exciting a saturday morning event as pee-wee's word of the day.

so, whatever happened to ernest?

wow  ! shrinky-dinks are still around!!! i'd bet that you can't get them in toy stores anymore, though; they are pretty old skool. y'know, coloring on plastic and putting it in the toaster oven. do the kids even have toaster ovens anymore  ?

colorforms were little playsets that consisted of a cardboard scene with a glossy surface and little restickable vinyl people/objects/animals/whathaveyou that you could rearrange to make different scenarios - all the while talking to yourself, the way only kids can get away with :worry: . after a while there wasn't much left you could do that made sense, so you'd put the car on top of the person's head, or make snoopy make out with woodstock, thus creating more hours of merriment from what otherwise would have been the end of a plaything.

and i'm pretty sure that play-doh is still around. it'll never go away, like mr. potato head. how could they get rid of that stuff? i still remember the smell - those were the days :) ...

tab went bye-bye. one of those cases where it was seen as to much of a girlie drink and cost coca-cola to much $ to produce, ship and market. instead they concentrated on their diet coke line and expanded it, although i wouldnt be surprised if a limited amount is still made.

in fact their is a soda shop in LA that just sells soda, old soda, sode from every part of the us and abraod etc..lemme see if i can find the link....i saw on food netywork

damn they took it off

but here the link to that food netwrk show that i'm talking about.

I miss a particular flavor of kool-aid that mixed lemonade with grape, Purplesaurus Rex.

How come they don't make Tab anymore?

bummer about ernest :( !!! great entertainer - he.

but they do still make tab; they sell it at the supermarket by my work (which is in richyville, l.a.). it was marked sketchy back in the day due to the whole "saccharin" thing, when said sugar substitute was linked to cancer in lab rats. y'all may recall the gilda radner sketch in which she and a couple of early 80s style doo wop girls sang a little song about it, rhyming "akron" (as in ohio) to "saccharin." (sad twist, that gilda died of cancer.)

anyway, i think it may not have been actually banned just because the risk isn't that high or something... that's just a guess, because i was sure that it had been proven.

how about 'roos? d'ya remember the sneakers with the pocket on the side? it was really just a slot, not a cargo pocket or anything, so it was kinda useless, but it was just the novelty of it that we kids thought was so cool. and everyone i knew, at least, put a penny in it, because you had to put something in it, and a penny was as bling-bling as it got for us (as 8-year-olds, or however old we were), back in the day :D .

i used to have a pair of 'roos back in the day. they really came in handy as i would out my lunch $$ in there when i went to school. i loved them, but i never bought a second pair, dunno why, but i never get the same pair of sneakers 2 times in a row.

btw, on the saccharin thing and nutrasweet-cancer relationship, yeah theya re linked with cancer in lab rats, but they feed them an equvalent of 1,000 packs of the stuff a day, so it is theorized that for saccharin or nutrasweet to cause cancer in a normal human being, they would have to consume 10,000 packs a day EVERY DAY for 10 years.

a bunch of us in 5th/6th grade or so had two of the same sneakers in different colors so that we could wear one of one color on the left and one of the other color on the right. we also had the whole two-pairs-of-socks thing going: for instance, the left foot would have a white slouch sock on first, then a black over it, and the right would have a black slouch sock, then a white over it. ah, the eighties  .

Isn't saccharin still around? I always thought the blue packets were aspertame (nutra-sweet) and the pink packets were saccharin. But maybe I'm wrong cause I try to stick with good old fashioned, highly processed cane sugar and corn syrup.

your correct, sweet and low (the pink packages) are saccharine and the blue ones are asparteme.

i dont know if its just me or what, but i try not to consume alot of calories from any type of drink when i eat. i'd rather have more food than drinking the equivalent in calories.

i can't stand the taste of artificial sweeteners. but i'm with you, vic - i don't drink soda, just 'cause carbonation, caffeine, and sugar are all three unnecessary things to waste in a drink. but i do drink iced tea when i need some flavor - not calorific and yummy.

another thing about aspartame, though; i eat fat free yogurt, and it's very, very hard to find it with real sugar as opposed to aspartame. i guess the powers that be figure that because i'm fat conscious i have bad taste, too  .

hmm.. imight be the odd one out here, but i live on nutrasweet. in fact i've got an IV of nutrasweet 24-7 :D

no, but really with yogurt i go with plain-natural-low fat, put frozen fruit (fi'm adicted to frozen blueberries) and a couple of packets of nutrasweet and i'm set. also throw in some wheat germ for extra vitamin e.
