mugwump
....In Hoboken where I work..Every single Global Underground, every single Gate Crasher,Tranceporthard dessert Trance, EVERYTHING!some 60 or so CDs. I just didn't listen to them anymore. They did NOTHING for me...(Like staring at your oldhigh school collection of Grungealbums and the sound track to the"movie" singles..It's just nostalgia)Sure I had a moment of hesitationwhen I saw the store owner stackand count moments of my OLD raveryears: Twilo with Nick Warren, Sashaand diggers, Oakie at the Roxy..moments grinding my teeth..loving and hugging as myeyes did the jitters to a goose bumpbuild and a melodic anthemin the days of Trance..But there are too many bad memories thatgo along with that sound that I am happyto be rid of..old flings that ended harshlyhad their soundtracks in those CDs..Pacefiers and glowsticks..Big pants, Bleached hair,E-puddles and casual sex..OUTGROWN NOW.A PASSING FASE...CHILD LIKE MEMORIES..A DREAM... Heaven sent,"callling yooour naaame"Now gone. This is a turning of the pagein my life as a clubber..And just as Twilo's only a dreamthat a culture awoke from together..so are it's anthems. Dead echos..lost in time.

mugwump
well, I did keep a couple...(out of some strangesadness and denialthat perhaps I'll listen tothem some day and be telaportedback in time)The fact of the matter isthat I needed the $$$..and I hold older CDs/genres in highervalue than my old Trance collection..They just sound outdated tome now...Perhaps that'sthe sad truth of "dance" music...It's edible art.(Other electronic stuff that I'veowned for years you'd haveto kill me to take away )

Tua mama stronso..TRANCE feels like eating something too sweet for too long..It makes ya sick in the end..OR let me put it toyou this way:Ever gotten ill over a certain food ordrink..?(I mean Exorcist sick where you thoughtyour head was gonna spin..)and you vomitted the flavor of that food and now till this day just can't stand the idea of eating it everagain. Catch a whiff and you dry heave...That's TRANCE to me...Scene related..Images of people that follow it...musicaly..genre and historicaly..I'm over it and I don'tquite think I'll ever wantto go back to it (No matterhow old I am.)Just like Disco.I never want to hear it again.*(My perants killed that one for me)(Except for DonnaSummer's "I feel love")

stacychase
I never part with old music, the reason why is that I can throw in an old tape or CD and it takes me back to years gone past. Some memories good, some memories bad... However they are just that... Memories of a past, memories of how much my life has changed!

Nope..I got a good deal.(I work at this store)As far as digging up"OLD" music I still do...There are TONS of music I wouldnever part with..You'd have to kill me to get rid of allmy 80's industrial, New wave, Electro, breaks, Drum and bass,Trip-hop,World music,Ambient, Jazz and classic psychedelicspace rock/kraut rock...TRANCE, however, just does NOTHINGfor me anymore..It's dead as a sound. It no longer gives me "goose bumps"makes me wanna dance or inspires me(With or without drugs) in any way.It sounds cheesy to me..dated (But in a badKTU radio mix way)Brings imagesof guidos with big shaved backs in cheesy pretentious NY clubs and oiledup Miami beaches....I DO remember what I loved about TRANCE(From a musical perspective)And I do go back every now and thenand "Listen"..But you know what...?My tastes drifted...If I want to be moved by orchestral sounds I listento ambient stuff, and actual Classical or Jazz..If I want to feel the energy: Techno and intelligent D&B..If I want vocal sweeps and melonchollie: Down tempoand Asian Underground...Funk: Breaks and electrobreaks..and If I want to feel like it's1980 all over again "electro"(with my mullethipster friends in Williamsburg)Or I could just go through allmy old records of Industrial, Kraftwerkand New Wave and start fromscratch. As far as the TWILOand Raver years go...I don't ever regret goingthrough that.I needed to in orderto get where I am now in my head...(And I did dance my ass off many nightsto marshmellows melting out of speakerswith the fluffiest of fluffy trance anthems and loved it)But times change..I moved to a different place..and now I'm just a jadded olddrunk ex-raver who dosen'tknow the difference between trendyelectro mullets.. bad repetative over hyped glamy techno and shitty wigger trip-hop!Now excuse me for a second:"BEAT IT YA RAVERS..GET OFF MY DAMN PORCH."(Mugz pulls out shot gun)"Damn kids."
