So I sold all my Trance CDs to a record shop...

Recommended Posts

....In Hoboken where I work.

.Every single Global Underground,

every single Gate Crasher,Tranceport

hard dessert Trance, EVERYTHING!

some 60 or so CDs.

I just didn't listen to them anymore.

They did NOTHING for me...

(Like staring at your old

high school collection of Grunge

albums and the sound track to the

"movie" singles..It's just nostalgia)

Sure I had a moment of hesitation

when I saw the store owner stack

and count moments of my OLD raver

years:

Twilo with Nick Warren, Sasha

and diggers, Oakie at the Roxy..

moments grinding my teeth..

loving and hugging as my

eyes did the jitters to a goose bump

build and a melodic anthem

in the days of Trance..

But there are too many bad memories that

go along with that sound that I am happy

to be rid of..old flings that ended harshly

had their soundtracks in those CDs..

Pacefiers and glowsticks..

Big pants, Bleached hair,

E-puddles and casual sex..

OUTGROWN NOW.

A PASSING FASE...

CHILD LIKE MEMORIES..

A DREAM...

Heaven sent,

"callling yooour naaame"

Now gone.

This is a turning of the page

in my life as a clubber..

And just as Twilo's only a dream

that a culture awoke from together..

so are it's anthems.

Dead echos..

lost in time.

(I'm actualy eyeing the

section as a substitute)

ANY OF YOU EVER PARTED

DEARLY WITH AN OLD SOUND?

. . . yep . . . but I kept the core ones that I really liked . . .

well, I did keep a couple...

(out of some strange

sadness and denial

that perhaps I'll listen to

them some day and be telaported

back in time)

The fact of the matter is

that I needed the $$$..

and I hold older CDs/genres in higher

value than my old Trance collection..

They just sound outdated to

me now...Perhaps that's

the sad truth of "dance" music...

It's edible art.

(Other electronic stuff that I've

owned for years you'd have

to kill me to take away )

Tua mama stronso..

TRANCE feels like eating

something too sweet for too long..

It makes ya sick in the end..

OR let me put it to

you this way:

Ever gotten ill over a certain food or

drink..?

(I mean Exorcist sick where you thought

your head was gonna spin..)

and you vomitted the flavor of that food

and now till this day just can't stand the idea

of eating it ever

again. Catch a whiff and you dry heave...

That's TRANCE to me...

Scene related..

Images of people that follow it...

musicaly..

genre and historicaly..

I'm over it and I don't

quite think I'll ever want

to go back to it (No matter

how old I am.)

Just like Disco.

I never want to hear it again.

*(My perants killed that one for me)

(Except for Donna

Summer's "I feel love")

Those stores give you like $2. a piece 4 ur CD's, Could you have sold it online, maybe even on CP Classifieds to get a better Deal???

Nope..

I got a good deal.

(I work at this store)

As far as digging up

"OLD" music I still do...

There are TONS of music I would

never part with..

You'd have to kill me to get rid of all

my 80's industrial, New wave, Electro,

breaks, Drum and bass,Trip-hop,World music,

Ambient, Jazz and classic psychedelic

space rock/kraut rock...

TRANCE, however, just does NOTHING

for me anymore..It's dead as a sound.

It no longer gives me "goose bumps"

makes me wanna dance or inspires me

(With or without drugs) in any way.

It sounds cheesy to me..dated (But in a bad

KTU radio mix way)Brings images

of guidos with big shaved backs

in cheesy pretentious NY clubs and oiled

up Miami beaches....

I DO remember what I loved about TRANCE

(From a musical perspective)

And I do go back every now and then

and "Listen"..

But you know what...?

My tastes drifted...

If I want to be moved by orchestral sounds I listen

to ambient stuff, and actual Classical or Jazz..

If I want to feel the energy: Techno and intelligent D&B..

If I want vocal sweeps and melonchollie: Down tempo

and Asian Underground...

Funk: Breaks and electrobreaks..

and If I want to feel like it's

1980 all over again "electro"(with my mullet

hipster friends in Williamsburg)

Or I could just go through all

my old records of Industrial, Kraftwerk

and New Wave and start from

scratch.

As far as the TWILO

and Raver years go...

I don't ever regret going

through that.

I needed to in order

to get where I am now in my head...

(And I did dance my ass off many nights

to marshmellows melting out of speakers

with the fluffiest of fluffy trance anthems and loved it)

But times change..

I moved to a different place..

and now I'm just a jadded old

drunk ex-raver who dosen't

know the difference between trendy

electro mullets..

bad repetative over hyped glamy techno

and shitty wigger trip-hop!

Now excuse me for a second:

"BEAT IT YA RAVERS..

GET OFF MY DAMN PORCH."

(Mugz pulls out shot gun)

"Damn kids."
