why is miami as the hot spot NO MORE?

Vegas is 10 times worse than Miami. Sure it's hype, but it's like Disneyland now. It's not the Vegas of Casino (the movie) anymore. It's all family friendly and shit like that.

This is an interesting thread, though...Why do you think Miami is no longer a hot spot? Real reasons, too...no innuendoes...

I think the city is on the way up if anything...

i *hate* getting on here and bashing...but as someone who has lived in Miami for almost two years, i'm about to put in my $.02...miami is a pretentious small town. i don't know who these people think they are working the door, but i have NEVER caught that much attitude from any club in New York. If it's worth the hassle to get inside, be prepared for the same rude BS from the ppl in there. and as far as the ppl working in the scene..."watch your back"...i have never seen so many evil greedy bastards doing whatever that have to do bring their competition down.

Hint: maybe you people are going to the wrong clubs. For no attitude at the door, check out Blue, People, and N. Otherwise, stop crying. And the WMC in Vegas? Give me a fucking break... this topic has been beaten to death. By the way, how can someone from LA call Miami ghetto??

arrakis...i didn't mean any disrespect towards ya...i apologize if any individuals take offense to my post--like i said bashing isn't my thing, if it was i'd be posting names of the clubs/club owners whom i am talking about. It just sucks that I feel that i have to compromise from going to places that i would otherwise enjoy because of the hassles i have experienced. i have been to blue, and luv going to tantra to hear luis velasquez(who i feel is the best on the beach), but can you really compare the scene in one of those spots to the way it would be in one the bigger clubs.

why does big equal better. My impression is that the opposite tends to be more true - just because you have a large venue does not guarantee success nor a better night then the smaller clubs. Personally Space's size is as much as a turn-off as its attitude.

noira...i don't mean that bigger is better--i mean tantra is a restuarant! to really enjoy luis i'd have to push like five tables together and dance on top of 'em. i wish he'd have a spot like blue or somewhere w/ just a lil bit more room to dance...he knows how to get the crowd moving-if there were just some space to move. cwm9.gif

The doorperson's attitude is irrelavent if you know how to work them. Most clubs have 2 or 3, not all of them can be jerks ya know? Take crobar for example...i won't mention any names, but the younger italian guy, and the girl with long black hair are nicer than the crusty old black guy...

Wow, well first off, I want to address the issue of the WMC possibly being held in Vegas next year. I sincerely hope this not to be true. The WMC is the premier annual event of the Dance Music Community. Were not talking about the Nightclub and Bar Trade Show here. That fits in Vegas, WMC would not. Miami is, as far as I'm concered, an integral part of the conference itself. The location, weather, clubs, people everything just says Miami. Hopefully, it's just a nasty rumor. I would also like to address the subject of Miami not being a "hot spot" anymore. Are you kidding? Miami is only beginning to blossom as an international hot spot. Gerry Kelly, in my opinion has had a lot to do with that. He brought us the super clubs we've been lacking. I had the opportunity to live in England from 1996-1999. Clubbing takes on a whole new meaning over there. Gatecrasher, MOS, Cream, God's Kitchen are some of the most incredible clubs I've ever been to. So it's nice to see Miami offering it's share of clubs like Crowbar, Level, N and I'm sure a few others to come. I do have to say though, that general attitude on South Beach is getting out of hand. Yes, you have a fantastic club, yes there may be a lot of beautiful people and even some famous one's in your club, but that doesn't automatically give you the right to treat people who are paying to keep your club running with no repect. I just can't agree with it. What's wrong with greeting someone with, "Hi, welcome to (insert favorite club name here) thanks for coming." Maybe it's just me, but I'd hate to think that we're just supposed to accept being treated like that simply beacuse, "That's South Beach." I feel that if your greeted friendly at the door, that experience will carry on throughout the night. Don't get me wrong, this in no way means that Door people have to be pushovers. Initially be friendly, then if a patron becomes rude, you don't come out the bad guy, the patron does. Ok, I feel that I've vented enough for one posting. By the way, I'm competing in the WMC DJ Competition this year so I hope to see some of you there. littled, I agree bigger can be better but biggest is definitely not best! and as far as Luis Velasquez goes your absolutely right that he is a great local dj. tantra has been and incredible venue for local talent development since its opening three years ago. 365 days a year and two booths on weekends has provided new talent a venue to develop their skills AND income for vinyl and survival. I was there for new years eve and luis had one of the most genuine and estatic vibes I've ever seen going. EVERYONE on the tables and bars for hours! By the way, he also is one of residents at Goddess where you can spread out and let loose...
