Interesting post, kitty...

This is common in the luxury goods industries and also the Auto industry...

For example, the LVMH reference you gave included...

Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessey: Moet & Chandon, Dom Perignon, Hennessey, Louis Vuitton, Loewe, Celine, Kenzo, Givenchy, Christian Lacroix, Marc Jacobs, Fendi, Emilio Pucci, Thomas Pink, DKNY, TAG Heuer, De Beers, Sephora, Ebel and various fragrances

However that was only partially complete... here is the whole list of products the group sells:

Wines and Spirits:

Moët & Chandon *

Dom Pérignon

Veuve Clicquot *

Krug

Mercier

Ruinart

Canard-Duchêne

Fendi *

StefanoBi

Emilio Pucci *

Also there are two other major conglomerates in the luxury goods market that come to mind,

The first is Richemont who own/control:

Cartier

Van Cleef and Arpels

Piaget

Baume and Mercier

International Watch Company (IWC)

Jaeger LeCoultre

A.lange & Sohne

Panerai

Vacheron Constantin

Dunhill

Lancel

Montblanc

Montegrappa

Purdey

Chloe

Hackett

Old England

Shanghai Tang

And finally Swatch which owns:

Breguet

ETA

Blancpain

Glashuette Original

Jaquet Droz

Leon Hatot

Omega

Rado

Longines

Union Glashuette

Balmain

CK Watch

Tissot

Certina

Hamilton

Dress Your Body

Endura

Flik Flak

Swatch

Mido

Les Boutiques

I personally find it very interesting how this can proliferate through the luxury goods market as it has, with Autos it is a little easier to understand for me. Especially when you look at a brand like Swatch, they must have made a killing by ripping people off with those little cheap plastic watches and selling them at $60-80 a piece to be able to buy all of those high end companies and now control much of the Swiss watch industry. Sure $60-$80 doesn't seem like much, but when you think they manufactured those for pennies... well, the profit must have been staggering in the 80s.

hey there! :)

you actually included a lot of licensed brands, which is different from actually owning a brand. LVMH is the owner of a lot of licenses to create fragrances for tons of designers, but don't actually own the company.

if thats the case, we can go on forever! kind of like how kenneth cole and DKNY shirts are made by phillips-van heusen, how jones new york owns a bunch of polo labels... ;)
