mala
A few months ago I was preparing dinner. I opened a can of peas and carrots, dumped them in a bowl, and mixed in some mayo. My boyfriend looked on in horror and asked what the hell I was doing. I told him my mom often prepared peas and carrots w/ mayo as a sidedish. I then asked him if he had never had this dish growing up. He hadn't. I was in disbelief. I thought cold canned peas and carrots were a staple sidedish in homes all across America. So, anyone have any stories about things they did/ate as a child that you thought was normal, but apparently are not? It might also make me feel better if someone says they have had peas and carrots prepared in this manner.

mala
Yeah, I'm Croatian. My mom does Russian Salad too. But usually she just does the peas and carrots alone. Strange.
