Tommy what does your high intensity cardio consist of and what does low duration mean? thanks

matt

I do 30-60 seconds of low resistance alternated with 30-60 seconds of high resistance and do that for like 10-15 minutes.

IE if im doing the stepper, ill do it on low resistance, then crank up the resistance & go balls out. then lower it again. Repeat.

Try doing 10 minutes like that & compare your heart rate to doing 30 minutes of low intensity duration.

compare the body of a sprinter to that of a marathon runner. Compare thier training methods also.

Now we are talking

To be honest with you, I have almost quit working lets out. No, I am not one of the guys in the gym that have a huge chest and arms and skinny legs.

My legs blow up with just 1 or 2 workout and they overpower my body. If I were going to compete I would continue - but I would look like a fat ass in clothes - so I avoid it.

When I did work out legs it would go something like this.

Warm up

Leg extentions and hams

Workout

Leg Press

5 sets of 20 - usually hitting around 1500 lbs for the last set

Squats (Did not go to heavy here due to a bad back - and being burned on leg press)

4 sets of 10 - working my way up to 450 lbs on the last set

Then I would go back and hit the leg extensions and hams for 3 sets of 15.

At times I would throw in different types of leg presses after squats.

It was not really the greatest routine - but that was all it took for my legs. If the intensity was there it was usually enough to keep me from walking out of the gym on my own.

I def laid off them a bit, but gonna start at them again

Yeah, if my legs start lagging - I will just hit them for about 3 or 4 weeks and they are back.
