funketeer
Puig also blamed the U.S. government, posting a notice on the website www.cooljun kie.com that ``our government is using the unconstitutional Amber Bill/Rave Act/Crack House Law to try and shut down nightclubs, concerts and public gatherings.''I'm disgusted with just how far people will go to basicly lie and deseive...everyone has a little story to tell...the facts are out there, everyone knows what happened, everyone knows what went on...and mostly, everyone knows how wreckless some club-owners are...makes me wonder how they got that big...I mean, when you run a multimillion dollar business and you spend your time on a message board defending your honor and venting your personal shit for everyone to see and have an opinion about...man, you do not only deserve to fail, you deserve to hit ground and realize that a life's work is never about what one does, but rather about one does to affect others...if this closing of Space is not true, then, this is the worst publicity stunt I have ever seen anyone try to pull...if it does close, I don't care...me limpio el culo con Space 34. andrewthomas
thats great now that he mentioned cool junkie every DEA and cop and parent in miami will read the miami herald and say oh wow cooljunkie, a website for drug users and will think that every other venue posted on cool junkie is a place to do drugs. thephoenix
see the problem lies in the New Times reporting it is the best place to take ecstacy in miami...and the herald equates that with it is safe to party there and it is condoned...when probably all that meant is that it has the best lights, sound or set-up...I have NEVER heard that Space was a safe haven for drug users....and it certainly wasnt filled with rave kids....railroad.... junkiexl
I can't believe the New Times actually published this:Earlier this year, the New Times, a local alternative weekly, awarded the club ``Best Place to Roll on Ecstasy.''
thephoenix
what I cant believe is that the Herlad ran with a report that another newspaper did and made a mountain outta of mothing.Has anyone here ever heard Space34 was a safe haven?quite the opposite...there is some un-baised reporting. Political pressure?

junkiexl
Space34 has some of the tightest security I've seen in a club, far from a safe haven. That is just media BS.

macboy
Damn. I go away for a week and this shit happens. Looks like Saleen was right after all. Louis, you're not going to make the government feel guilty becuase you're crying in public about shutting down. You're just making their job easier. Too easy, in fact. Now they don't have to spend ANY time or money fighting you. They're probably having a big laugh about it right now.You have more money, power, and influence than most club owners have to do something in this situation. I think you are doing a disservice to your industry by acting in this manner. You should have taken my advice and gone on the legal offensive. If you are really the club king then you need to act like it and lead by example.
pod
Not to sound like a parrott for Space, but it's funny, the Herald says "oh, it's not true what you're saying Louis", then a paragraph later, they pretty much say what LP said that they were printing. Though Andrew, I highly doubt people will think cooljunkie is a haven for drug users.
cooljunkie
It's a typically condescending article. Their juxtaposition of Louis's comments with their view of the Rave Act is designed specifically to underhandedly accuse Space34 of knowingly allowing drug use in the club.I haven't got a problem with reporting on drug issues, but it just needs to be a little more mature and really investigate how to deal with the issues, instead of pointing a convenient finger of blame at one entity or person. There'll never be a solution while the media is solely seeking to satisfy the 'concerned reader' who just wants to hear that clubs and everything around them are bad, and are being 'dealt with' by the authorities. Guest saleen351
people people people listen up, LP might be a lot of things, but he is certainly not down and out. He's got an "ace" and when he plays his cards, i think Space will be back....

pod
Like I've said before, every politician needs a target, and the local ones have the club scene as theirs.

Bling
regarding the cooljunkie response about it being a drug user haven. that is ludicrous. the people that post on cooljunkie as well as here are extremely intelligent music lovers that know wtf the are talkin about for the most part.space closing is a huge set back and i am extremely disappointed that its shut down but Miami will once again its superclub very soon i bet on it

Well said Nick.. as for secrurity... Space has one of the tightest security units, if not the tightest IMO. Unfortunately, we had a couple of bad apples in the bunch. But it's like I stated on another thread... If a grocery store manager has 2 out of 100+ employees who were caught stealing, does that make him a bad manager?? I still can't get over the New Times so called award.
funketeer
I did see a girl tryin' to take a puff from a small one hitter pipe at Space 34 once...I'm serious...the girl had no chance...she didn't even get to light the lighter up...she was escorted out, no questions asked...yes, security at Space 34...one of the tighter if not the tightest I've ever seen at a club here in Florida...ever.
