majinbuu
how about a Backdoor Bamby Party like the ones they have in Crobar Miami? On a Monday night, only using one part of the club, a smaller but equally crazy party...Have DJs like Josh Wink come and play. Make it more of a House party. When I lived in Miami, and worked for Crobar, Backdoor Bamby Mondays were always the highlight of the week.. ozone
Crobar needs a strong lineup of residents to compliment Victor.Producer/ DJ's who turn it out with there latest unreleased BOMBS. That's what keeps things interesting!I for one would LOVE to see Chris Staropoli aka THAT KID CHRIS up in there. He's from NYC but rarely plays here, probably due to past NYC "politics" in clubland.I mean this guys been releasing bomb tracks since like 96-97'!!! His new mix of Monica's "Set it Off" ft. Missy E ... Lit up Crobar when Victor dropped it NYE. And it was great to see TKC and Victor laughing and partying in the booth (for me at least ..LOL...I'm definitely a fan of both)Why fly in other DJ's when we have crazy talent right here?!?! I mean this is NEW YORK!!!! Trendsetting capital...HELLO!! I know I'm not alone on this one, it's been an on-going topic of conversation as of late amongst people in 'the know'. Wheather it was filling in for Junior. @ Twilo or Exit, gigs in Miami or the Bkyln loft Chris never lets us down. It's time to give this guy the props he deserves (in his hometown!!) Hopefully Crobar will get there act together and find the winning formula. The club is on the money...they just need a killer DJ line-up to take it over the top. BTW.. here's a few more mixes done by TKC that come to MY mind... COME TOGETHER* (JUST NOT)SATISFIED*EMOTIONAL ROLLERCOASTER *KISS MY EYES* FIND YOURSELF* SACRED DANCE*GIVE ME LOVE*HIDEAWAY*(OMG) BIG TIME!!*...*THATS IT!*lol...there's more but gotta go...thanks! digitalextacy
I don't like the idea of that non dancing lounge hip hop crap in a huge club like crobar. I love house music but I also grew up on hiphop and to play that pop hiphop is disrespectful to true hip hop music. If you are gonna be "trendy" then be revolutionary and help create trends not be part of the commercialism of hiphop music. Thank you. 530west28
We definitely know the importance of a big Hip Hop night. One of the plans in the works is Thursday nights with Mark Ronson and Q-Tip in the main room. A Soulful, Deep house party in the Prop Room and new and emerging talent in the Reed Room.Sunday's are still the planning stages but a possible Sunday afternoon party is planned and well as Sunday nights.Wednesday's have been mentioned as a good Rock & Roll night in the smaller rooms with the main room being closed.Weeknight entrance fees will most likely be reduced. someclown
I went to Crobar for the first time this Saturday. Let me say that the club is beautiful (much better than the one in South Beach) and the vibe is great. Also, the staff is very friendly. The only negative to be honest is that David Waxman is kind of horrible. Victor Calderone is awesome, so I wouldn't change his residency, but seriously there needs to be an upgrade from Waxman. It is such a nice club with incredible potential, it would be a shame to waste every other Saturday on a DJ who is below standard.

What other DJ;s would you like to see on Saturday?

Seriously, I didn't mean to make it seem that I was personally attacking him. He is a fine DJ I'm sure, just not up to the high standards that Crobar set otherwise. Good local DJ's that you may want to consider are Ziggy (Exit White Room), Merritt, Morrillo (when he's not in Ibiza), and Low End Specialists. Of course, I am sure you know all the "big name" foreign DJ's that might be great for a single night or "occasional" residency.

Yes David Waxman is not a DJ for a big room like that. He's okay but not great. If you want a lesser known DJ that can rock the crowd, That Kid Chris is a much better alternative. Even better, if you could get someone like Satoshi Tomiie there who's probably one of the best New York DJs without a New York residency, that would be sweet. If you want to fill the money coffers, bring in guys like:1. Carl Cox2. Paul Van Dyk3. Sasha/Digweed (Sasha lives in New York now, so it would make perfect sense)4. Deep Dish5. Richie Hawtin 6. Fatboy Slim7. Timo MaasThese guys don't come cheap, but you will have lines wrapped around city blocks to hear them spin. You can easily make this club one of the city's best if you bring in names like that. David Waxman doesn't really cut it, no offense.
