Cue & Patrick...Ill miss having my bad influence to come see you guys on Sundays nights but now maybe I will be awake on Mondays. I heard Nerve was going to shut its doors to House Music and switch the hip hop format.Ive been infolved in night clubs since David Morlaes was the Saturday night resident dj @ the REd Zone in NY (1988).I moved into Miami from NYabout 9 months ago. I love it here and always have a good time when i go out.There is one problem I see with the Miami house market. I noticed its the same 4 djs that play @ every event. There is no new blood. Why would you want to see a dj who plyed saturday night then hear him Sunday. I think the established talent should start getting new blood in so you can attract a new audience.Why not have sundays new house party with some new names with one established talent(Even a roatating opening dj would be nice. (New djs buy records and lead to better records sales) . I would love to hear diffrent types of house music instead of hearing the same tribal records and the same crowed over & over again. Im not knocking any djs. Theres a lot of talent out here. Maybe then House can make a stronger hold in Miami. It seams like Hip Hop has takin over Miami just like NY. All I would like to say is... being from the "old camp" I'm sure you'll find it refreshing to know that house music is still alive in Miami. I agree with you completely! The most difficult task is to captivate a music-savvy audience that is willing to develop a keen ear for the less obvious (esoteric yet energy stimulating) sound of nightlife... IMO, Miami's materialistic dance music scene is too pre-occupied (perhaps even obsessed) with VIP areas, guestlists, cutthroat competition and corrupt club politics to dedicate any more attention to a sound that deviates from the big tribal and progressive bugs that have infected Miami's dancefloors. It's truly a shame that determined promoters like P:M Sessions, X'ess Chicago and various others have had to turn their attention elsewhere. Didn't they have something like this going on at the Delano? The only problem with that is the exclusivity. Frankly, I'd be a little intimidated by the place and the fact that its known as by invite only.A late summer, early fall chill spot by a pool on a saturday afternoon really appeals to me. I'd definitely come south to hit it up. See me in some Jackie O glasses, a white wide brim hat or scarf, white indian top and little capris, lounging on a chaise by the pool.
