sgtfury Posted October 26 Report Share Posted October 26 MIAMI -- WSVN Station executives announced Chief Meteorologist Bill Kamal has been fired after he was arrested in an on-line sting.Kamal is accused of making arrangements over the Internet to meet a minor for sex.According to police, Kamal was allegedly corresponding over the Internet with a person he assumed was a 14-year-old boy, but he was an undercover detective."Yesterday, defendant William David Kamal was arrested in Fort Pierce and today he's being charged in a federal criminal complaint with child enticement. "That's the official word from the U.S. Attorney's office in Miami, after arresting the person they claim was trying to solicit a child over the Internet.47-year-old Bill Kamal was arrested Sunday afternoon near Fort Pierce, in St. Lucie County.It all started on October 18th. In a written affidavit, detectives say Kamal contacted the undercover officer, through a chat room.He first said hi and then described himself as a "masculine, lean ripped body older man looking for a son." In later correspondence, Kamal went on to say "I'm really looking for a real son, not just to trade pictures and never speak again. I'm not just looking for quick sex."He also discussed seeing the "boy" face to face saying, "I could drive up there and meet you some weekend."Reports show he also expressed apprehension about the meeting saying "and you'll be fifteen. What if I'm caught. I could go to jail, I mean you know not by taking you to dinner, but what if we get caught."But even with the apprehension, detectives say they have reasonable cause for his arrest. "That meeting was for one thing and that was for a sexual encounter with this individual... who was a 14 year old boy. He brought with him to the encounter toys that are before you as well as a map to the location of the meeting," said St. Lucie County Sheriff Ken Mascara. Kamal is now charged with soliciting a minor under the age 16 for sex.His arrest is part of a federal investigation of alleged sexual predator activity throughout the state. In response to this arrest, WSVN General Manager Robert Leider has announced that, "We have no other alternative but to dismiss Bill Kamal for cause. His termination is effective immediately."This is the 40th arrest this year alone of alleged sexual predators in the state. And officials say this is what they must do to keep children safe."We take child exploitation cases very serious, as seriously as we do anything else in our office. And we will hold accountable those who engage in child exploitation crimes," said US Attorney Marcos Jimenez. Detectives also confiscated computers from Kamal's home and have reportedly found several items of child pornography.He is charged with a third degree felony and could face up to 5 years in prison. It's pretty freaky that kids go to meet these strangers. Bill Kamal seemed gay to me, but kiddie porn that's a whole different scene.and yeah people are pretty stupid to do something so dumb when they have a good job,and are well known in the community,but the reality is that preying on children is just wrong to begin with.
