the420honey Posted April 4 Report Share Posted April 4 Before I begin let me remind you that I promoted for Ultra and my boyfriend was promised 2 comp tickets per school promoter for his little side project. The day before Ultra (or should I say morning) we finally get our VIP and comp tickets. But there is only one comp per school promotor.A couple hours go by and we are now on our way to Ultra. All we have to do is show them the pictures of the kids at school promoting and we will get the other 5 comps. So all day my boyfriend and I are hunting down Ray, Danny C. and Russell, and ALL 3 of these pricks are saying, go talk to him, wait for this, go talk to Danny, BLAH BLAH BLAH. Meanwhile these promotors and their friends are calling Barry and I every 5 minutes for an update, but I can't blame them, I would be pissed too. We finally get some comps so we go out to give the promoters there comps. I meet up with my friends and we are now in Ultra ready to party. My boyfriend who has bad knees was walking through the park all day with his 70 lbs. record bag, by the way he is getting sick, so the virus decided it was going to stared off in my poor babies knees. He had to go to the car to put his record bag away, but that was sort of impossible seeing as though I lost the garage and couldn't give hime directions to find it. While he was looking for the car, Sonya, Heather, Eddie, and I were walking around Ultra. We were all buzzed and we wanted to go dance. We first went to the breaks stage, they were playing some funky fuck shit, so we went to the DNB areana, there is no use, I can't feel the vibe anywhere. My boyfriend gets back from his hunt so I left my friends to take care of my boyfriend. As I was talking on the phone and leaning on this gate, an asshole in a golf cart decides its a great idea to run his golf cart into the gate I am leaning on. The fucking idiot didn't say shit to me, not sorry, nothing. He didn't knock me on my ass or anything, but that shit didn't feel very fucking good. So now I am like, am I at a Hip Hop event, there is no vibe, the staff is a bunch of fucking assholes, and I am surrounded by mindless ravers on too much shit to enjoy the music. I saw 2 kids getting taken to the hospital, and a few others having a bad trip...WTF is wrong with ravers? You claim its "about the music" but you can't go to a party without X or Cid? Anyway, my Ultra experience sucked, I expected a lot more from them, but they are the most unorganized mother fuckers on the planet. I doubt there will even be and Utra NYC. Oh and to throw the incing right on my cake, we were walking to go on our 2nd hunt for the car and we saw the dudes from The Crystal Method, WITH THEIR RECORD BAGS! Thats another example of how promoters will lie/manipulate people for money, I bet most of the people who saw the flyer thought they we going to be playing live. I've seen them do a DJ set twice before, and the vibe was much better at both places.Fuck Ultra, all I can say is I'm happy I didn't pay for the shit! Now its too huge, too comercialized, and too many lil kids. Then again----im an old skool scenester, so anyone under 21 is a kid to me. Sorry you had such a crappy time.....Next year stick to the parties you KNOW are gonna rock and just concentrate on those 1 or 2 and do it right! I mean, we got there around 1:15, *well* after opening, and the schedules had not yet arrived. I will probably go as long as their is an Ultra just because I personally love outdoor festivals, but I think they are really hurting themselves by not fixing all the problems year after year. I'm trailing off topic, but I was pissed because the people who threw the party are the most unorganized fucks I've ever met and when they promise something they need to follow thorugh, not make the people who worked hard to promote their party miss the whole fucking thing.
