Will Jet Be the Biggest?

The word is that the new venue, Jet, will be one of the largest, if not the largest nighclub in Las Vegas. The trend seems to be that bigger is better. If this is the case, will someone eventually build a nightclub the size of a small casino so they can truely be the best? Only time will tell.

Jet is to be 15,500 sq ft, which is not even half of Pure's 36,000 sq ft.

Well said.

Even consider Tao's numbers (see the thread "Vegas' Next Hotspot" for even preopening-released dimensions): a 5,000 square foot ultralounge and a 12,000 square foot nightclub, encompasseing in total with Tao restaurant a total of 44,000 square feet.

Our source told us that Jet would be about 44,000 sq feet, which is about the same size as Tao.

Well, MGM Mirage's press releases have put it at 15,500, but who knows. Maybe your source is correct and the press releases weren't. I guess we'll see for ourselves in a couple months.

In our business, people tell us things in good faith that we won't mention where we got our information from. In many cases, we aren't at liberty to say where we got our information because it will jeopardize our opportunity to gain further information from them at another time.

Wow, who made you God?

Anyways, I highly doubt Jet will be that big in size. The Light Group owns them, and their other venue, "Light", is a crackerbox in comparison to the other megaclubs out here.

Pure is the biggest club in size out here...and it's funny how they ram that perception down everyone's throats in ads. Because if they aren't filled to capacity then it looks like a ghosttown. Pure isn't even on the same level as Body English or Tao as far as popularity, but they will have you think that by paying reporters from the LVRJ to write a fluff piece on them.

Hopefully, Jet will be a fun club. But it's in the Mirage...how many people under the age of 35 have been in the Mirage anytime in the last 5 years? I didn't think so. Add to that, their owner is a complete @sshole (from the mouths of many people around town). Not a good combo for a new nightclub.

Capo, I never said that I was god, but as a VIP host in Las Vegas, I hear things that people who aren't in the scene wouldn't. Pure is not the largest venue in town. Pure is only 36,000 sq feet, which is a very impressive size, but Tao's total size including the restaurant and the nighclub levels is 44,000 sq feet. Just because Jet is owned by the Light group, doesn't mean that they will build another small venue.

As we stated in a previous post, there is a trend going on in Las Vegas. That trend is that nightclub developers are beginning to build "super venues" that are enormous in size, that include multiple levels, and rooms that play different music to appeal to a greater audience.

Let's take a moment to reflect on the popular venues in Las Vegas, and the hotels that they are located in. Before the Pure group built Tangerine inside of Treasure Island, what was the age range of people that frequented this resort? What was the age range of people that went to the Venetian before Tao was built? One would probably guess that they were in the age range of 35-60 years of age, on average.

For those of you who haven't been to Tao these days, it is the newest up and coming venue on the Las Vegas strip. The line is always long, and tables are always full. Jet being located at the Mirage will have no impact on whether or not it will be full of people who are over 35. If a venue is strong, then they will have the power to pull in the younger people that we all like to see in nightclubs.

On the other hand, if the owner has a reputation for being rude and disliked, this will impact the amount of customers that will frequent their club.

Well, I've always had a strong hatred for Tangerine. I think it has already "jumped the shark" and will lose relevance in the Vegas club scene in the next 12 months...my opinion, nothing else.

VIP hosts get their info from people who work inside the clubs, and I work inside a club. It's really not hard to get any info..usually press releases have everything in it.

Well like someone stated above, Tao is 44,000 sq. ft. because of the restaurant...the restaurant has nothing to do with the club, so therefore it is not as big as Pure. But like I said before, that is the smart thing to do, because it looks just pitiful when Pure isn't busy. I don't have a hatred for Pure, I just know that it is #3 out here and these weird "awards" and "ratings" keep saying it is #1.

Unfortunately, a mass of tourists who come to Las Vegas also hear that Pure is the #1 club in Las Vegas, causing the chaotic crowd in front of the club which is supposed to be the VIP line. From what we have heard, Tao is beginning to take away some of Pure's fan base. As far as the size of Tao, it is true that the 44,000 sq feet does include the restaurant, but after the restaurant closes, it becomes an area where people can sit, drink, and talk, like they would if they went to a lounge. For this reason, we would include the restaurant as part of the nightclub, even though it is technically separate.

Out of curiosity, are you a host for Body English?

Even though what you say about Tao (the entire venue) is true, telling people that the club is 44,000 sq ft is misleading. The club is something like 10,000 sq ft. Far be it for me to tell you how to do your job, but you really shouldn't tell people that the club is 44,000 sq ft. Pure can tell people they're 36,000 sq ft because the entirety of their venue actually is a club. That is not the case at Tao, and telling people it is because you can hear the lounge music in the dining room is a real stretch.

We do tell people that the entire venue is 44,000 sq feet, but we also tell them that this does include all 4 stories of the venue. We always make it a point to never mislead anyone because we wouldn't want anyone to mislead us. It is not at all a far stretch to tell our clients that Tao is 44,000 sq feet for the reason that the restaurant is actually used as part of the nightclub after the restaurant closes. Some of the tables and couches are open for anyone to sit, but people can also order bottle service in this area, the same as they could on the "nightclub" levels of Tao.

As I stated in a previous post, "to each his own." You are entitled to your opinion. There are a good number of people who use and like our VIP service, but we can't please everyone. For those of you who read our posts and appreciate the content, we thank you and appreciate your feedback on all topics.

  • 2 weeks later...

I had no idea the restaurant inside Tao is part of the club. I see a "main room", which contains the dance floor...and I see the "lounge", which is downstairs. As I go downstairs from the main room to the lounge, I see the restaurant, which was empty last Thursday. I assumed it closes after dining hours are over and the main room and lounge are all that is open. I have only been there a couple times so I never paid much attention.

Regardless, Tao is a major player in Vegas...it is #1 or #2 out here (with Body English) if you are being realistic, with Pure being #3 and Studio 54 not even a factor anymore.
