Well its official.. We will be closing our doors on Saturday night April 15th. We heard about the closing last week, and MGM finally announced in a company letter to the staff, that Teatro Euro Bar will be NO MORE.. The news came as a shock to all of us. Especially after we felt and saw that we were doing SOOOOOOO well with the new hours and music format.. But they are going to remodel the club and make it just a bar\lounge..or whatever..

We have created such a great buzz with Leo Teo and his protege Dave "DJ ASSMONKEY" (not sure if that name is official yet)have been holding down the fort on Tuesday Wed and Friday nights offering a refreshing and energetic atmosphere for the Tuesday night afterhours.. and Luca "Digital Boy" and myself have been beefing up the alternating Wed..Thur..and Sat nights with Electro House and Tribal.. So many compliments and fresh new faces and veterans alike started coming around regularly adding to the fun.. and now... well.. *sigh*..

So this week is the last week and we are hoping to go out with a Bang. Last night (tuesday) was Leo Teos 30th birthday bash. We had a great crowd come down to celebrate. So come down if you can and help us go out with a BANG!!!

Thanks for all your support.. its been fun...

Sorry to hear the Gravitron :) is closing. Always enjoyed stopping in there for a few drinks.

I'm staying at MGM Grand this weekend, I'll definitely stop by on Saturday night as part of my warm-up for Empire.

Thats really sad. :(

Teatro (as you can see from quite olds threads) was right after OPM cerca 2004 the venue that I first felt "comfortable" at because the staff was wonderful, from door of course, to the bartenders who were amazing both in how nice they were / how reasonably priced the drinks ($8 for mixed drinks) were / how they looked forward to coming back night after night. I felt comfortable because they made me feel comfortable. That is always priority #1 in my book. I dont care how hot your venue is or how much a bomb it is - if you make me feel welcomed, I will return.

The venue was great in that walking through MGM to and from (and from and to lol) Centrifuge it was always easy finding chicks that said "where can we go for afterhours now" .. and you said, just down the hall. The "just down the hall" approach to nightlife is not always there in Vegas that has you cab'ing here and there. Teatro was always down the hall. And there was something special being able to find - for some reaason always OC chicks lol - wandering out of Tabu or 54 asking "where to go" and you would just say "follow me, Im on my way back".

It would be good to hear some people's favorite stories about Teatro. Here is one of mine.

One of the very first times I happened into Teatro, and I dont recall why I ended up there, I sat at the bar/catwalk and relaxed. Now, in nightlife, you see lots of money being thrown left and right often. Well on this night, the 35ish dude that was sitting next to me threw a wad of maybe 30 x $20 bills for the first dancer when she was done.

I didnt think anything of it.

The next dancer, he did much the same with 50s and 100s. And then the next dancer. And then the next dancer. Finally, I cant recall how he and I started talking, but I wanted to know what was up.

Turns out this cat, who happened to be one of the finest mofos you would ever hope to meet on a trip, confessed to me (as the sole person apart from his mom) that he had won $35K at three different casinos in the last 2 days. And he was living it large.

And boy did he ever. The next night he was there again. He confessed he came from a prominent NYC family and hence money was not a neccessity, owner of many restaurants and consultant to others. A deeply private and guarded person who for two nights allowed himself and the flying bills to be seen.

I cant recall how much he threw down to those dancers those two nights - but it was raining major, major bills for two nights after each dance for hours with the crowd going to wild from the green falling. And the reason he gave to them, and the cocktail waitress, and comps to everyone he met those nights he befriended, was "just because". "Just because" is what he said. I never knew how much he threw down in Teatro those two nights because it wasnt important - it wasnt important, rather the magic he created with his generosity was paramount.

Vegas is all about that type of sureal magic. And for two nights, that magic was at that catwalk at Teatro, a memory I will never forget.

hehe.. cool story.. I guess you can actually get to know someone and converse without the hassle of SUPER PACKED, STANDING ROOM ONLY clubs with Ear Shattering music. No Bullshit at the door.. Sexy Go Go dancers to watch, and great music and Vibe.. Alot of people from Tao and Pure and some other clubs came down to show their support, and we went crazy... ill post some pics on my space soon...

Really sorta hard <sad> to read this thread cuz Im gonna miss Teatro. I hope that Vegas understands the need for a small ultralounge with no door drama that you can pop into for afterhours just for a few hours and decent priced drinks that is center strip and has a hand stamping effortless re entry policy. Moreover when its coupled with 1-3 bars that pull in an average to great crowd all within 400 feet of the spot, its wonderful for the clubgoer like myself that likes to pop around all night.

I remember one night that I met a few, and couldnt find a few other lol, cp peeps I was running in and out and in and out of Teatro for almost 3 hours one night, running down the hall to find em, back in Teatro, out of Teatro.

well I met Greenie at Teatro .. and I think he can attest as to how this send off party will be in alot of peoples minds for a while... We really appreciate everyone that came out and made this the end all be all place to be on Saturday night before heading to EMPIRE or SEAMLESS ... Room was at capacity for most of the night.. then the hardcore people stayed until we had to be told by Hotel Security that we couldnt stay any longer... the party just wouldnt stop... They turned the lights on as a hint to shut down.. but we kept going and going and going... Finally we accepted the inevitable and had to close up shop..

Much appreciated.. you guys from TAO and PURE and Tryst and other clubs really know how to go out in style..thanks so much for making this a memorable night.. be sure to keep an eye out in 944 for pictures from this event..

This was a really a great night at Teatro, unfortunate circumstances but at least the staff was in great spirits and the locals really turned out. This was the IDEAL pre-party spot for me prior to Empire on Saturday, great tunes spun by Digital Boy (really great scratching/FX improv) and Sien Pileggi (sick tracks that the crowd ate up), the sexiest go-go dancers (or whatever you choose to call them) in town, and about the best crowd you could ask for. Not to mention the drinks were bloody damn powerful.

Really killer time. Was there from a little after 1 until just about 4, and was a bit bummed that I had to take off and meet people at Empire... especially as although Empire was packed by the time Faarsheed took the stage, the party was not quite yet rocking the way it was at Teatro. (Empire did get to that point eventually)

All this said, I'm sorry to see Teatro go. Doesn't seem to make much sense to have closed it down, a place the size of MGM Grand without a dedicated afterhours spot. Given the corporate approach, you'd think it would be a natural promotion to push all the folks leaving 54 and Tabu to head over to Teatro... or special events following fights and concerts. Gotta wonder what Light or Pure would have been able to do if they were given the reigns to promote the place.

Oh, there is one gripe about the night: they were charging at the door. Or charging for out-of-town guys, as I didn't see them ask the two ladies in front of me for money. Or at least, trying to charge me $20. When I mentioned that I my name was put on the list and dropped that name, they gave me the whole routine of "there is no list tonight" and "who did you say put you on a list" and "what does he look like?" Gimme a fucking break. Fortunately I've been around this block enough to deal with it without getting frustrated. But still, it pisses me off when door staff throws attitude attitude at people who are legitimately on a list.

Yeah the manager found me and asked me if I saw you .. he said you asked for me at the door and that it was cool after that.. sorry to hear about the hassle.. as far as we knew.. they werent gonna do that.. but maybe corporate was making them stick to their rules.. oh well. we made up for it with the comp bottles and drinks lol...

glad you had fun..
