Some really good tracks and some that go no where.I'm not really into all these putting DJs into buckets of music genres, but pretty sure Lawler isn't all minimal?Played the second best set of the day behind Sander Kleinenberg at the SW4 festival in London back in August and a great set at Pacha, Ibiza a couple of weeks ago when I was over.Really not convinced by his latest cd (1st one is ok, 2nd one is admittedly bleepy minimal rubbish), but live he has been great in my opinion.Maybe he'll play different for NY, but I'd recommend seeing him for sure. I loved Lawler back in late 2003 / early 2004 when he was spinning the dark and dirty tribal. But every dj sound usually changes for the better. kinetika Posted October 3 Report Share Posted October 3 I love Lawler, but I am skipping Crobar-Crobar has been closing early due to the cops, plus Lawlers has 2 more acts on the main floor(opening and closing). Realistically we will probably get 2-3 hours worth of Lawler at the very most-His last set at Spirit was insane(lights out release party), his set at Cielo that sunday night was great as well. -But damn, he was so much more on point a few years back, why he dropped the drums for minimal electro is beyond me. he def jumped on that bandwagon. But his style is different than most as it's very dark.-As for Ibiza, didnt catch him this year, he used to rule the terrace on sundays at We love, but that seems like ages ago...
