I find that a lot of guys I meet call me "sweetie" regardless of my relationship w/them. My best friend and I figured that guys call girls "sweetie" as kind of a generic name. We think if a guy you dont really know too well starts calling u sweetie right away, that means that there are lots of other "sweeites" in his life.So for the board I thought hey why not sweetie? I also have a lame name cause all of you people took all of the good ones! So I sat here staring off into space trying to come up with a name, and when i would get one in my head and type it, it was taken. So I got bored and this stupid name won. shugabooga Posted July 27 Report Share Posted July 27 i'm from the south so i have a bit of a southern accent. years ago i had a cat named smokey who was just the sweetest. i called him "sugar" but with my accent it quickly became "shugie" and "shuga" and from there "shugieboogie" and "shugabooga." i ended up using shugabooga the most.then smokey got sick and died. i was heartbroken and couldn't use the name for my other cats anymore.then when it came time to pick a name for this board, i resurrected the name and it has stuck like glue. my cat's (gipsy) nickname now is angel or baby and he reminds me a lot of smokey...every now & then i catch myself calling him shuga cuz he's such a sweetie too.
