  4. hi everybody! wow it's been a long time. is there anybody on here from way, way back around 2002, 2001? i've posted infrequently since then......so much has changed, but it looks like maybe the clubplanet world of clubbing and posting is somewhat the same, only the names have changed, and the spirit remains. and that is a very good thing......... i used to be a 9-5er, partying on the weekends, now i'm a bartender, working weekends and never having a set schedule. i have grown old! i listen to talk radio all the time! my CD player doesn't work and i haven't upgraded to an ipod. i really need to get with the times, right???? anyway, just checking in to say hi! if there's an old folk's forum nowadays, please redirect me.......
  5. I wonder if the transit workers are enjoying their day off at a cost of up to $400 a day in lost wages? They can make it up upon retirement, at age 55, by starting a second career, since today's life expectancy for men is about 77, women, 80. Oh, wait, I forgot, transit workers like sitting around doing nothing, and getting paid $25, plus time & a half for overtime, an hour with free health benefits. So I guess that's all they'll be doing upon retirement, sitting on their asses, rather than being productive members of society. Anyway, their skills will be quite limited, as they are now. Their customer service skills suck, and driving a bus or train doesn't exactly translate into other job skills, like say, um, being a medical technician, electrician, plumber, doctor, nurse, secretary, receptionist, nurse, restaurant manager, entrepreneur. At age 55, they won't want to start an entry level position or gain new job skills, so we'll have a bunch of unhealthy, unhappy, unproductive old folks. And studies have shown that after retirement, unless you're a really outgoing person with a lot of hobbies, social contacts, and outlets for physical activity, that the downhill slide into illness and death is pretty fast. So what are they fighting for? Are these jobs really all that desirable? They have to fight and whine and inconvenience an entire city for a raise and pension benefits? Don't these people understand that this is a free market society and they can get other jobs where they can learn and grow, and get raises based on MERIT and if they don't like it, they can go somewhere else? And if they can't get other jobs after leaving the MTA because of their lack of skills and recommendations, then shouldn't they just STFU and take what they get and live within their means? Inflation affects everyone, not just union workers. It's survival of the fittest, and for the TWU, they're only as good as their weakest link, and I wouldn't want my pay raise determined by the quality of job performance, or lack thereof, of thousands of other workers who have bad attitudes and a 'gimme' mindset.
  6. Somehow Atlanta politicians got rid of it.........sent it to you guyz down there in South Beach. It was a nightmare. 24-hour traffic jams ON THE INTERSTATE! On Peachtree Road, traffic was so jammed that some people living on dead-end side streets couldn't leave their homes because they were blocked in. Atlanta citizens cried fowl and somehow it was shut down. They did the same crap in Atlanta - trash everywhere, lewd behavior, car stereos thumping all day and night, vandalism. You guys should be able to petition your government to do something about it like Atlanta.
  7. me now: me in miami: hey guys happy memorial day! here i sit in my apartment in Queens dreaming of south florida AGAIN! after six grueling years in NYC, i'm ready for a change. the grass is always greener they say.......but literally i think SF would be greener foliage-wise and financially. i used to club a lot here, but no longer do so at age 41. still love the music and the vibe, but that's not what i would move to florida for......it would be the outdoors, sunshine, healthier lifestyle. i just don't work out anymore here, it's too yucky......traffic, trash, sirens, horns, graffiti, concrete, cracks in the sidewalks, dog poop, ugly houses, businesses, no landscaping..... i think i'm talking myself into it for sure! my biggest concern is getting a job and apartment. i'm a bartender at a steak house and would want to stay in this line of business. would be willing to temp doing some kind of office/clerical stuff (or catering) at first... any info about moving to SF & finding work/apartments/public transportation (don't have a car yet)/cost of living/quality of life would be much appreciated. i'm doing research on my own but would like to hear it straight from those of you who actually live and work there...... thanks a bunch!
  8. i think i'm going to laugh for an hour at that one. listen, i hate people who litter. no matter who they are. the other day i was walking down the street and the woman in front of me dropped her empty bag of potato chips on the street. i couldn't really tell her ethnicity.....but i said to her "excuse me miss, you dropped something" and pointed to her trash on the sidewalk. listen, i've been abused by strangers in varying degrees all my life. a white guy spit a jello shooter in my hair one night. i've been sexually molested by a black guy, sexually harrassed by a black latino at work, had my wallet stolen by a black guy............verbally abused in a sexual manner by a black man. verbally abused by a drunk black woman on a subway in atlanta because she dropped her liquor bottle on my belongings and broke something and she yelled at me. you just gotta develop a thick skin and forget about these things. and seriously, i don't know what time it was that you were trying to hail a cab, but a woman alone should always avoid dark lonely streets in Manhattan - men will take advantage of you if they think you are weak, especially if you are tiny and petite and wobbling on high heels on a street corner. good luck and be careful!
  9. try the bronx, washington heights, corona, queens, brooklyn. otherwise i'd say there's a really cool little place around the corner from LQ called SNAFU (on e. 47th) with no cover and no attitude. good tunes, fun hot bartenders, dancing on the bar.............free popcorn too. it's right next to Burger King. have fun!
  10. hey gabo, what's up! yeah, i don't post much these days. so much has changed.......i no longer have a desk job with a computer, no computer at home.....so i don't get online much, and when i do, it's usually at an internet cafe where i have to pay, so i just do what i need to do. so most likely i won't post again for a while, but it sure has been fun!
  11. not shitting on anyone. that would be beyond kinky! i just gave it a catchy title. i dunno, i was kinda wasted and wanted to stir up some shit. i have to say, i was worried about how stupid the poll was, it's not really even a poll. but that's what i love about the sex board. it's usually a pretty safe haven for free speech or whatever you wanna call it. my friend and i laughed like hell at alla y'all's replies. (i'm down in georgia visiting friends so i had to talk a little country for y'all.)
  12. i haven't been on the board for a while and i got overstimulated. i feel better now after my visit to the john. what i really meant to say was, ......... i'm frustrated cuz i couldn't register on ebay for a nordic rider. apparently they won't let you if you're on somebody else's computer, which i am.
  13. whats up w/ the world today i gotta ask im frustrated have you done this or had it done to you
  14. DUDE! i've missed soooooooooooo much...........can i hang with you in the studio since i can't log on............
  15. always liked liquids........no cover, right?
  16. i'm not sure if it's from the slave era.......had golf arrived in the U.S. back in the early to mid 1800's? and gained enough popularity to have handpainted tees? i'm thinking this is from the 1920's to 1940's.......during prohibition.........when that style of artwork that was used on "vintage" posters........ just guessing. whichever era, it definitely has racist overtones.......but i have to admit it made me laugh, due to the surprise/unexpectedness/randomness factor......
  17. well as long as i'm here i'm saying hello!!!!
  18. this is the first i've heard of this and i must say, i'm amazed at my reaction........butterflies in my stomach and i feel shaky!!! i hope to be at this one if at all possible!!!!!!!! who else feels this way?
  19. sounds cool, but since when does the supper club host parties like this?
  20. i was at the humane society on 59th street between 1st & 2nd yesterday to adopt a kitten and the lady there mentioned that they have a three & a half month old yorkie for adoption. if you love yorkies, it's a good opportunity to get one for a lot less than it would cost from a pet store or a breeder. i didn't ask how much it was to adopt it. normally, kittens are $125 (tax deductible), and any special cat breeds are $250, so maybe a special dog breed would be $250 as well. this puppy was given to someone as a gift, and they didn't want it. there were also two beautiful white standard poodles. SO CUTE! i'm hoping that i'll pass the test to adopt a maine coon cat that they have there........they're serious about interviewing you and checking references to make sure you'll take good care of the animal!
  21. maybe you could take it to the humane society or a similar place so they can adopt it out to the right person. they'll take good care of him. i wonder........do you make impulse purchases often? because it's one thing to get a small dog like a terrier, they're a lot easier to manage, but a big huge dog like a rottie? that's a lot of work! at least a small dog can be somewhat content living in a small apartment. but a big dog needs more room to roam, run etc. good luck!
