There is one characteristic of the present direction of public opinion peculiarly calculated to make it intolerant of any marked demonstration of individuality. The general average of mankind are not only moderate in intellect, but also moderate in inclinations; they have no tastes or wishes strong enough to incline them to do anythingunusual, and they consequently do not understand those who have, and class all such with the wild and intemperate who they are accustomed to look down upon. -John Stuart Mill
cintron
Such is the nature of man. You may want to post that quote over the Exit doorway to remind people to be more tolerant of "ravers", asians, hispanics, blacks, and all people of different races, creeds, colors and beliefs. After all, not to diss Exit any more than i normally do but it's sad to hear so many complaints about a club whose door policy is known as one of the more segregated and prejudiced in the city. Maybe i may show up at exit someday just to see what it's about but what's that worth if one of the doormen look at me and what i'm wearing or what my race appears to be and says "this is a private party" or "unless you have a pass you can't get in."And once i get in... what's to say most of the other people won't be the kind of men and women just like said doorman? People who I wouldn't want to hang around in the first place? I have my doubts...

Reason - We were asians. After fighting with the bouncers (who most of them now work at a korean club on 16th street - MK) they said theres too many people inside. We were singled out and discriminated after we were all fully paid. Why keep going back??? FOR THE MUSICExit at least you dont get passed the doors. just my thoughts. IF only for once people would take the chips off of their shoulders, remove the Gucci shoes and put some sneakers on, ditch the 120 dollar black dress slacks and immaculate pleats, ditch the expensive gold jewelry, the overdone hair gel, the need to walk around constantly flexing their muscles like a snarling dog prowling its territory and just BE for once.Just BE part of the music, not be a person standing in front of it, full of glittering glamour and pizazz that washes away with the first shower.I wish more people could just realize that music brings us TOGETHER as ONE. If more people would stop trying to use their image to show how cool and elite they are and just dance for once without any fear or any attitude. If they'd just close their eyes and stomp their feet and feel the rhythm become a part of them instead of trying to use it to get themselves laid or to show off, then i think we might actually get somewhere as a club culture. As long as crowds exist where juiceheads and wannabe thugs stain the purity of the vibe and cause others to hesitate and check their behavior for the sake of someone else, then those crowds are stifling their own sake of a good time and the assholes doing it are causing others to put themsevles in cages so to speak.Being free inspires others to be free. Let it be so. cintron i really dig what you're sayin and i agree with it completely..some of us go to clubs for different reasons..i go for the release and to feel/join the vibe the deejays put you inthe one thing i wish you stop advertising is vynil - changing exit hedz into humans..can you stopit cuz they might actually start listenin to you n i won't have anywhere else to go every friday..jokinone of my fav things to do is stand on one of the speakers at vynil and see every happy as hell feelin the same vibe

starstuff
I know the crowd sucks, but the venue has real potential just for the sheer enormity and production going on in the space. bring the djs and the people will come. vibe can conqeuor the mediocrity of the crowd and atiitudes can change. "progressive is an attitude" Twilo wasn't built in a day.
