I mean some people are placing huge 640 x 480 images in there that weigh over 60k, and others put like four 20k images in there. Some people just throw HUGE pictures of their CP names there. I can see your name on the left! Unfortunately not all of us are in T1/DSL/Cable Modem land and it's *really* annoying when you want to read interesting threads but have to wait for 20 posts to load, with more than half of them sporting HUGE banners in the sigs. Ever hear of "less is more"?Am I alone in thinking this or am I just a jaded old school web designer stuck in 56k dialup hell? I imagine the dialup people aren't too happy about it. I took my skulldeck outta my sig for a couple days cause I thought it might be too big for slow connections, but then I was asked to put it back in my sig, so I compressed the filesize with a webgraphic optimizer.I suppose the people that have never designed a site actually consider those details. It's just plain consideration since people with slow connections have to wait an extra long time for peoples' sigs to download before they can read the entire thread. Your sig for example is over 100kb which could take over 15 seconds for a person with a phone connection to download. It's the weight that was reduced from 40k to 20k. I'd never think of getting rid of the fine details email me if you want me to send you the image... tribal Posted January 16 Report Share Posted January 16 yo bkkid i totally agree. i design website, so image optimization is just instinctual. its fucked up that people have no consideration for bandwidth of others. there really is no need to put 500x700 or larger sigs. heres some tips to optimize.fierydeisire, you pic is ahem, lovely, but u could make it better, by shrinking the pic overall to say maybe 200x78 or whatever you feel is acceptable without loss of graphic quality. another way you could help it is by cutting out parts of the background, the areas which arent important to the central scene, which are the 2 chicks fondling each other. also if your pic doesnt have too many colors, say maybe like 10-20 colors total, save it as a gif, which compresses better and makes smaller filesizes. arity hope that helps.
