Everything that touches my soul basically. I’ll always keep on playing underground electronic dance music.“, she confesses. Ida Engberg was born in a suburb of Stockholm. She moved around a little, lived in Marbella and in Ibiza for quite a while. Now she settled on an island right outside Stockholm called Lidingö. There’s one question of male fellows Ida has to face eversince she started selecting music: “How come you decided to become a DJ? – I mean since you are a girl and all???†The truth is Ida never really decided to become a DJ. It just happened as she reports: “My first boyfriend at the age of 14 was DJing and I thought it was really cool. He taught me how to mix a little bit but it wasn’t until I was 18 that I started to play myself.“ Her first gig was in a club that a friend of her was running. His ordinary resident was sick and Ida just happened to be there. “I said, ’I can play’, he just looked at me and said something like ’Yeah right’. I can’t believe I actually convinced him to let me play that night. It was great, I loved it!†A few weeks later Ida got asked to start playing in one of the biggest and most famous after-hours club in Stockholm called The Spy Bar. This was the beginning of her life as a DJ. KONRAD BLACK BIO: Konrad Black has been involved in DJing, producing and performing music for the past ten years. A constant throughout his career is the signature mix of dirty bass threads with atmospheric sounds, emerging from his roots in drum’n’bass and hip hop. After his first release on Formation Records in the UK, influences such as Maurizio and Klang inspired more minimal sounds, and in 1998, a meeting with Swayzak in Vancouver led to ‘Greycale’ for Slow Building in 1999. From there Konrad went on to record a number of tracks on 240 volts, including the ‘Nails’ or alternatively titled ‘Heavy Metal Withdrawal’ EP as well as the ‘Busting Down the Door with a Shotgun’ EP. After moving to London and working with Ed Rush and Optical's prestigious D&B label Virus Recordings, Konrad recorded the track ‘White Cigarettes’ for Swayzak’s 240 Volts Compilation released that year. Concurrently Konrad worked with March 21st of Circlesquare on the ‘Headgear Project’, releasing ‘Believers Goodbye’. This project culminated in collaboration with Swayzak for the track ‘In the Car Crash’ on the seminal album ‘Dirty Dancing’, released in 2002. From there he went on to work on Circlesquare’s album ‘Pre-Earthquake Anthems’ for London based Output Recordings. Likewise, Headgear's final joint production then was the Unkle remix of ‘In a State’. In 2004 Konrad then formed Wagon Repair Recordings with Mathew Jonson, Graham Boothby and Jesse Fisk. He continued his wide panorama of sound on his first release on the label: ‘Draconia’, which enjoyed critical success internationally, followed by club hit 'Medusa Smile', both top ranked in playlists of opinion leaders like Ricardo Villalobos, Richie Hawtin, Steve Bug, Loco Dice or Tiga.
  2. PURE CHICAGO Presents... TRANZIT 005: Winter Take-Off featuring the sounds by: PHYSICAL LAW |DJ set vs live PA| MARIO FLOREK vs DNA COOK vs PAUL UNIVERSE ERIK COSGROVE vs DJTACIK at Vision The TRANZIT event series was conceived by Chicago electronic music DJs Mario Florek and DNA, and was designed for a few simple reasons. They wanted to create an event that centered around the music they love -- melodic, driving, uplifting, and floor-shaking trance. They wanted to present it in a big room and on a proper sound-system, in order to do this music justice. ...And they wanted to present it in such a way that the mood and atmosphere was not cheapened by some of the more unimportant aspects of nightlife -- cliques, the superficial, and the "see and be seen". It is simply about putting on a night filled with thought-provoking and energizing trance music that brings everyone in attendance together under one unified vibe. Come and see for yourself why this formula is a win-win. He has graced countless covers of the most respected dance publications whilst his name repeatedly pops up when clubbers discuss the finest DJ talent in recent years. Nic joined the music world at 16, where he worked in the local record shop and DJ'd in the local bars, in his hometown of Maidstone, Kent. It was here that he earned his first proper break courtesy of the town's house institution ClubClass. Aged just twenty Nic became main room resident for the night he remains fully committed to. Nic's ClubClass residency would form the launch pad for his future success. Nic welcomed many legendary names to the night such as Deep Dish, Pete Tong, John Digweed and X-Press 2, all of whom were blown away his use of deep techy sounds, acid b-lines and dark melodic grooves. The residency also gave Nic the opportunity to play at different times of the night, allowing him to develop his own sound as well as develop a tremendous understanding of what is expected from a DJ. Fast forward to 2006 and Nic boasts a portfolio of residencies across the globe that is both testament to his talent and versatility. Starting in the USA, Nic previously held a quarterly resident at Space in Miami, undoubtedly one of the finest nightclubs on the planet. With one Space in the bag, another comes in the form of that legendary terrace in Ibiza for which Nic now plays nearly every Sunday in the summer. This resulted in the headline 'Terrace Kings' which Nic achieved alongside Paul Woolford on their DJ Magazine cover story in August 2006. He also held a residency at the magnificent Il Muretto in Venice and finally back to Britain, where Nic has been responsible for ClubClass developing from a provincial club event, to one of the UK's finest and most influential house nights. ClubClass then went to the Ministry Of Sound in London, which has given Nic an excellent platform in which to showcase his music, as well as the opportunity to play alongside the likes of Danny Tenaglia, Rolando and Funk D' void. March 2008 sees Nic starting a brand new night called Atomic at the esteemed club The End in London. Nic is in good company, The End's has fellow resident holders include Laurent Garnier and Sven Vath. Nic's production and remix work alongside Andy Chatterley, under Skylark and its bastard son Buick Project, has proved fundamental in pushing him through as both an artist and DJ. Essential new tune status is a regular occurrence for Nic's productions and he has been called upon to remix a plethora of acts including Underworld, Tiefschwarz, Unkle, Kylie and Deep Dish. Critical acclaim doesn't get much better than a Grammy nomination and exactly what they got in 2007 when Buick Project was nominated for their remix of Tracey Thorn/Tiefschwarz track 'Damage'. Add this to successful releases for Renaissance and it's clear that Nic enjoys a very busy studio schedule. Working with Renaissance has now become common place for Nic after he followed the likes of Sasha, Digweed and Deep Dish, by releasing a compilation on their legendary series in 2005. The mix received huge props from journalists and clubbers alike, was backed by a thirty date world tour and sold thousands worldwide. Another string to Nic's impeccable bow comes in the form of Saved Records which launched in October 2004. Widely regarded as one of the leading cutting edge labels on the scene, Saved has gone on to release compositions from both established producers such as Zoo Brazil, Paolo Mojo and Audiofly, to up and coming talent such as James Talk and Shafunkers, with remixes being delivered from the likes of Alex Smoke and Paul Woolford. "There is such an untapped pool of talent across the world at the moment that I want to help the new kids coming through get the recognition their music rightly deserves" says Nic. 2007 saw Nic join forces with James Zabiela for their One+One alliance, causing something of a press frenzy they toured across the globe, made some original productions in the form of 'No Pressure' and 'Rover' and released a double CD. Wasting no time Nic then went back in the studio with Skylark partner Andy and the result was their first artist album; 'I-Panik' was released in November of 2007 with a full remix package coming in Spring 2008. The likes of Laurent Garnier praised the album and the press were blown away ' citing it as an intelligent piece of electronica. The remix package sees contributions from acts as diverse as Joris Voorn, Funk Dvoid, Joel Mull, and many others. With a list of achievements that already overshadows many DJs ten years his senior, its clear that Nic Fanciulli has proven how combining genuine talent with dedication can go a long way. And whilst his record label, residencies, productions and compilations continue to open the ears of thousands of people across the planet, the fact he has a whole host of future projects up his sleeve reveals the best is still to come'. DAVIDE SQUILLACE BIO: Davide Squillace was born in Siena in 1977 and grew up in Naples. He started making records aged 20 after moving to London where he came into contact with the electronic scene for the first time. He started buying equipment and exploring its possibilities. His first track came out on Primate Records, and soon afterwards his talent was noticed by Audio and Contrast who released his next EPs. He moved back to his home city Naples in 1999 to study at the school of Sound Engineering. He began playing in the city's clubs which are famous for their top quality DJs. The crowds were enthusiasic and Davide was soon launched onto the circuit of Neapolitan techno DJs. In 2001 Davide produced tracks on Design Music and Conform, but in 2002 for greater artistic freedom he set up his own techno imprint, Sketch, to give the groove and freshness back to techno music. He left Naples for Barcelona in 2004, looking to take the knowledge he had acquired in Naples's underground scene into the capital city of the electronic music world. The following year Davide's first label Sketch evolved into MiniSketch. It was initially intended to be a smaller version of the main imprint, but soon became the main project. After some releases for Morris Audio and other labels under his alias erikOtanabE, he created Titbit Records with some Neapolitan friends dedicated to glitch-house productions. By 2006 Davide was producing tracks for Josh Wink's Ovum, the German label Resopal and Alex Under's CMYK. In 2007 Davide joined the crew of Circo Loco Ibiza, rocking the island with a residency at DC10. His records are played by DJs like Danny Tenaglia, Luciano, Dubfire (DeepDish) and Steve Lawler in clubs across the world. And his own dynamic DJ sets are symbolic of the quality of his music: light and fast and full of strength.

Cedric Gervais is of the rare breed whose talents behind the decks translate over into the production room. For years he has captivated clubbers and partygoers as he reigned supreme over the Miami dance scene. Although originally born in Marseilles, Cedric Gervais has chosen Miami as his adopted home, and the city has been more than happy to embrace him. He has held residencies at Crobar (now Cameo) and the world famous Nikki Beach, before taking over the Space Terrace. Cedric’s presence at the Space Terrace was felt immediately as people in the thousands began lining up to witness him devastate the after-hours scene. Despite being in such heavy demand, Cedric still found time to take his talents into the studio. His first single with Ultra Records, “Burning” was a great success on both the charts and the underground circuit. Soon after, he unleashed his debut album “The Experiment”, which featured the massive hit, “Spirit in My Life”. The album took him to a different level as he spent the next couple of years touring the world, entertaining and thrilling his many fans. His production credits include working with the likes of Lenny Kravitz, Deep Dish, Steve Lawler, and Rachel Star, just to name a few. Whilst maintaining a hectic tour schedule, Cedric has managed to both continue his residency at Space and spend plenty of time in the production room. His latest single, “Mauri’s Dream”, was Pete Tong’s Essential Tune of the Week three weeks in a row, and has received great critical acclaim from both DJs and producers. Many consider it to be one of the best, if not the best song revealed at the 2009 Winter Music Conference. It will be hard for any producer to top “Mauri’s Dream”, but tantalizingly enough, Cedric has expressed that “Mauri’s Dream” is just the beginning of what should be a string of smash hit releases. Currently, Cedric is working on his highly anticipated second album, “Miamication”; which is scheduled for release later this summer. He is working closely with Sharam (of Deep Dish fame) and the duo already had a monster record together, entitled, “U Don’t Even Know Us”, under the moniker, Sharvais. Cedric has also just relaunched his two record labels, Sleaze Records and SleazeTech. Having undergone major makeovers, the two labels are ready to take the Electronic Dance Music world by storm. Sleaze Records will specialize in house music and SleazeTech will focus on Techno and Minimal. Both labels are set to begin a heavy release schedule with the first set of releases coming in the end of April. With a host of new talent signed to the two labels, it is only a matter of time before Cedric propels them both to the top. Very few have managed to enjoy the kind of success Cedric Gervais has worked hard to achieve in such a short span of time. The scary, yet enthralling aspect about Cedric’s career is that it has yet to reach it peak. Although it would be cliché to say the future is bright for this young star, it is nevertheless true. No one can be sure what is in store for Cedric, but what can be certain is his impact will be one that will be felt for generations to come.

BIO: If you were to define the term ‘dance music purist’, you’d take into consideration a number of factors... knowledge, passion and substance. Combine them together and you get Marco V. Like many of the world’s superstar DJs Marco was born and bred in Holland. He is a modest and down to earth family man with an undying lust for music. Entrenched in the scene from an early age, it was clear right from the start which path Marco would take. The rest as they say is dance music history, but a history that Marco has not only shaped but continues to re-define with every thought out move. Few DJs have done more than Marco V to draw new talent into the dance music vortex. Whilst inspiring new producers, he has also been described as the DJ’s DJ with many of his colleagues closing following what he does both in the studio and behind the decks – this is testament to his impeccable taste, and unrivalled talent. To stay ahead to the game you have to adapt as trends change, and Marco is the master at this. On the decks he holds complete control of the crowd with a style that is impossible to put into words, incorporating anything from fierce electro to driving techno and beyond. Travel the globe and you’ll be hard pushed find a major club that hasn’t felt his force. His studio has belted out more anthems than a national football team. From classics like ‘Indicator’, ‘Simulated’ and ‘Godd’ through to present day floorfillers such as ‘Second Bite’, ‘More Than A Life Away’ and ‘Red Blue Purple’ and his reverential and massively successful updates of classics such as ‘Café Del Mar’ and ‘Loops & Tings Relooped’ leaving his discography the envy of most. His passion and perfectionism shine through in everything he does. His Combi:Nations mix series has been a huge critical and commercial success, giving listeners at home the entire spectrum of Marco’s sound, from intimate backroom floors to the Dutch techmachine in full effect on the dancefloor. His artist album 200V was a similar smash spawning yet more dance floor destroyers and catapulting him onto the Radio 1 playlist. 2008 sees the 3rd artist album and several brand new singles from Marco and it goes without saying – all combined, they’ll form another accolade for the V mantelpiece! Genius, pioneer, legend - throw all these glowing tributes his way and Marco will just shrug them off with an unassuming smile. These are words used regularly when his name is mentioned but this doesn’t lead him to arrogance. Some people are born with music running through their veins and Marco V is one of them – A musical chameleon whose musical fire burns on and on. Year in year out – it feels like the story of Marco V has only just begun!

The group is famous for remixes and their own productions. The group’s tracks are regularly played by well-known DJs, such as Tiësto, Armin van Buuren and Paul van Dyk. They are also known under other aliases, like Tranquility Base, OceanLab, Dirt Devils and Rollerball. Jono Grant and Paavo Siljamäki met at Westminster University, and they set up the Anjunabeats label in the summer 1999 with the release of the “Anjunabeats Volume 1â€. The song received the immediate attention of various dance clubs, and quickly gained support from Pete Tong, Paul Oakenfold and Paul van Dyk. Above & Beyond came together in 2000 when producer Tony McGuinness called in Jono and Paavo to help him complete the Chakra remix while he was still working at Warners. The inspiration for name Above & Beyond came from a web page belonging to an American motivational trainer called Jono Grant which was stuck on the wall of the studio. Although they were unknown at the time, the Above & Beyond remix of Chakra ‘Home’ was picked over remixes by Rob Searle and Tilt to be the A side mix, and after plays on Pete Tong reached number one in the UK club charts. In 2006 they released a full artist album called “Tri-stateâ€, defined by DJMAG as a†big progress for the trance genre “, it features collaborations with the likes of Zoe Johnston, Richard Bedford and Andy Moor, known for his work with Tilt and as half of Leama & Moor. The first single from the album, “Air For Life†(featuring Andy Moor), was released in July ‘05. New single “Alone Tonight†was released in November ‘05. Their show, TRANCE AROUND THE WORLD can be listened on Digitally Imported Radio.

BIO: The Get Physical story begins on a tennis court in Saarbrücken, near the German-French border. That’s where Patrick Bodmer met Philipp Jung on a summer’s day twenty years ago. Their lifelong friendship and musical partnership was sealed on their next meeting, at the high board of the local swimming baths. After many hours of discussion they were jumping, and were virtually brothers from then on. Together they ran wild and wished for a life that could only be about their great loves - collecting records, throwing parties and meeting girls. They dreamt of a way to live as a child, running happy and free. When youthful desire had to make way for sensible adult concerns they parted ways. At 25 Patrick and Philipp were reunited in Frankfurt, then the hub of Germany’s flourishing house and techno scene. Philipp worked for Snap’s record company; Patrick studied and lived as an artist. They began their first musical activities with releases on local independent imprints and devised their unofficial Lust (eng: joy, zest, delight) parties as an excuse to play records. Later Patrick acquired an old brewery as an atelier that served as their cauldron for ideas, art and wanton personal experimentation. They stopped in 1997 and the final twang of traditional career values saw Philipp move firstly to Cologne as A&R of Jive, and later to Berlin to do the same job for V2. Patrick finished studying before taking a sensible day job he quickly detested. Over the next years they consumed music, raved and span records at every opportunity. DJ T and Patrik (The Sunsetpeople), from Frankfurt’s Monza club, heard them play at a party and noticed them on the dancefloor, stamping their feet and ripping their clothes. They became close friends, and M.A.N.D.Y. have held a Monza residency since 2001. The same year their old pals Arno and Walter (Booka Shade) moved from Saarbrücken to Frankfurt. The four intensified their work together and again talked of starting a label. The first official M.A.N.D.Y. release, a remix of French electronic band Galleon, was chosen as the official German single and went stratospheric sales charts. DJ work poured in but they couldn’t reconcile with the commercial scene and abandoned it after a few short months. M.A.N.D.Y. liken their next moves to a last exit, a final chance to do something special before time ran away from them. They decided to create a label with their friends Booka Shade and DJ T, utilising the talent of the close friends in their circle. They called it Get Physical: in tribute to the dancefloor; in memory of their meeting; for their love of disco, acknowledging the obsession with Olivia Newton-John. It was born from pure desire, the need to create something tangible from their lifelong passion. In 2002, M.A.N.D.Y. and Booka Shade moved to Berlin seeking a new creative kick. What they found was a confluence of artists and ideas, and a constant shower of music that washed over and immersed them. It was productive, intense and satisfying. Living and working together their strong relationships provided the perfect foundation for future growth. Since the creation of the label, M.A.N.D.Y. have come into their own as artists and DJs. Their natural easy friendship allowed their skills to gradually flourish and their heartfelt excitement for what they do ignites every floor. Mixing the first Get Physical label compilation in 2004 sent their sound beyond Europe and they’re sought after remixers working with artists as diverse as The Knife, Seelenluft, the Sugababes, Hans Peter Lindstrom and Fisherspooner. And though they travel the world they treasure the family vibe that supports them in Berlin. For M.A.N.D.Y. this isn’t a job and isn’t about success. It’s about partnership and friendship and a realisation that dreams can come true. The DJs who flourish in this demanding environment go on to become folk heroes, not only in New York, but all over the world (see Larry Levan, Danny Tenaglia, Junior Vasquez). DJ Boris started his ascension to these ranks in 2004, when the native of St. Petersburg, Russia took up residence at New York super club Crobar. It was the culmination of years of workhorse gigging at almost every club across the Big Apple. But it was more than that too: It was a movement that has shown no signs of fading. Boris (birth name: Boris Inzhin) started moonlighting as a DJ while taking classes at the Institute Of Audio Research in New York. With a metronomic mixing ability and a penchant for expansive, groove-based power-house music, the jock quickly found work both in DJ and production booths, playing at clubs like Exit, and Roxy, and remixing artists like Janet Jackson, Jewel and Gloria Estefan. In 2002, his mix of Pink’s “Get This Party Started†hit No.1 on the Billboard Hot Club Play chart. His relentless approach to bring his cult of followers the best sound and experience possible has taken his production to even greater heights. Powerhouse industry labels like *69 Records, and Stereo Productions have wasted no time in signing Boris projects to their labels. Dancefloor missiles like "Automatic," "Everybody Tweakin'," "Lights Go Out," and Lisa Pure's "Movin On" have been embraced by a culture of beat aficionados, in and out of the many clubs DJ Boris has grown to call home. And if home is where your heart is then Boris must be endowed with a heart the size of North America. His movement has rewarded him with residencies in every major city. Now a regular on the city’s club circuit, the name of Boris started to become associated with unapologetically massive music: big drums, big riffs, huge build-ups and lots of energy. Propelled by the promise of a great party experience and by a growing affection for the approachable DJ and his humble manner, his crowd swelled. By the time Boris debuted at mega club Crobar in May 2004, his faithful numbered in the thousands, united under a spontaneously created banner: “Believe in Boris.†Boys stamped it on their T-shirts in masking tape, girls Sharpied it on their flesh, and eventually Crobar flashed it on their video screens: A battle cry for a clubber’s revolution. While at Crobar, Boris set the 30,000-square-foot club’s attendance record (a swinging-from-the-rafters 5,400), released his first mixed compilation (aptly titled “Believeâ€), and started to gig regularly outside of NYC, in markets like Miami, and Las Vegas. In 2006, when it became apparent that Crobar would close, Boris uprooted and moved his crowd 20 blocks north to Pacha New York, the first North American branch of the fabled European club brand, without missing a beat. He is still a Pacha resident. Boris’ faithful service to the clubbers of New York has been rewarded with two Club World Award “Best Resident DJ†nominations (one while at Crobar, and one while at Pacha), a DJ Times cover story, a top 5 finish in the national America’s Best DJ fan poll, and a new residency at super club Space in Miami. Add this to the already accomplished residencies he holds at Rise in Boston, Therapy in Rhode Island, as well as his regular appearances at Ruby Skye in San Francisco, 960 in Connecticut, Deko Lounge in New Jersey. He’s also become one of the reigning kings of Winter Music Conference week, throwing massive pool parties by day and after-hours marathons by night for thousands of fans. The spoils of success have not halted his enthusiastic work ethic either. His ongoing pursuit to creatively, and musically express himself to those who adore him, has no doubtedly outgrown our own country's limited borders. With his global campaign as New York's premiere DJ underway, believers can be found from all corners of the planet. Venezuala, Colombia, Marrakech, Barcelona, Madrid, Ibizia, London, Montreal, Mexico, and Toronto have all been blessed with his energetically extreme beat orchestration. Boris and his team are currently planning the release of his fourth mixed compilation, and a series of European, and South American dates to compliment his tremendous ability in the studio. So world, New York wants to know: Are you ready to believe in Boris?

Paco Osuna found interest in music at the age of 14; by the time he was 20 he completed his first track and in 1994 he turned his passion into his profession. His career jump-started when he earned a residency at the legendary club Amnesia in Ibiza, allowing him to establish himself as an artist to watch, and subsequently joined the roster of the prestigious Cocoon Agency. From this launching point, his own musical creativity was put to the task and he quickly began creating productions for labels such as Serial Killer, Morbid, and Real State, until 2003, when he started his own label, Shake Records, which was when Paco began to formally develop his own unique style. In 2006, Paco Osuna created his second label, Mindshake, which continues his mission to reach his full potential as an artist. With international contemporaries such as Skoozbot, Ambivalent, Paul Ritch, Matteo Spedicatti and Andrea Ferlin on board, Mindshake began to quickly receive praise and great success attracting attention from the world over. Within his own country, he helped open Club 4, a club with a concept, which has emerged as a foundation of the original Barcelona scene, establishing itself as the choice for variety and accessibility to new musical tendencies. As if this was not enough, Paco Osuna is now intimately linked to Plus 8, with two strong EP releases to date, Crazy and Orbeat, both receiving great success on a global level. This continuous movement has characterized Paco throughout his career, and he has diversified yet again creating a new hybrid DJ/live set, which he has presented internationally in prestigious clubs and events like Awakenings Amsterdam), Fabric (London) and Goa Club (Rome). Thus, his dedication, skill and popularity, have led to several tours around the globe with stops at DEMF (Detroit), WMC (Miami), SAMC (Buenos Aires), and Amore (Rome) to name a few. Paco Osuna continues to evolve his own unique sound. He has the rare ability to take the most pure minimalistic audio palette and inject it with his own personality, with an emphasis on clarity, momentum, depth, agility and intelligence. Utilizing these traits, combined with his unbridled creativity and innovation while performing live on stage, his strength, passion and energy shows through in his dynamic sets, creating a story and establishing a unique connection with his audience.

Born in Belgrade, Serbia and relocating to Melbourne, Australia when he was 13, kick started his musical journey as he started to get influenced by everything around him. Like many other youngsters starting out in the music biz, Dragan couldn’t afford turntables but he managed to improvise with his old NEC Hi-Fi and started mixing with the tape decks. From here on, Dragan developed further by making bootlegs and mashups. Next step was to get even more serious so a brand new computer, software and keyboards were needed. The first official production was released in 2004 and Dirty South was born. Soon after that, there was an invasion of Dirty South releases and remixes. In 2005 and 2006, Dirty South was nominated for the renowned Australian Music Industry’s top accolade, the ARIA awards and in 2007 he took home the “Best Producer†trophy at the inthemix top 50 awards. He did that again the following year and added best local DJ to his awards list. Since then, there have been many nominations, awards and accolades, including numerous “Essential New Tune†gongs by the legendary Pete Tong, who hosts the leading weekly global dance radio show The Essential Selection. Besides the successes he has had on his own, with releases like “It’s Too Lateâ€, “Let It Goâ€, “The End†and “Alamoâ€, Dirty South has joined forces with some of best producers in the world and created anthems such as “Open Your Heart†with Axwell and “How Soon Is Now†with David Guetta and Sebastian Ingrosso. On the remix tip, Dirty South has given the remix treatment to some of the most recognisable names in the music industry including U2, Snoop Dogg, Tracey Thorn, Depeche Mode, David Guetta and Josh Wink. Alongside his productions, Dirty South started developing his DJ career. At first Australian turf was covered many times, but then the demand spread overseas, and soon enough he was playing for some of the best clubs and festivals across the globe, including Ultra Music Festival, Pacha (Ibiza & New York), Ministry of Sound, Space, Vanguard, Creamfields, Global Gathering, Sensation White and many others. The heavy touring payed off, and in 2008, Dirty South was voted No.74 in the DJ MAG Top 100 competition. In between his heavy touring and producing schedule, there has always been time to do a yearly mix CD, and Dirty South has put his name down to compilations for labels such as Ministry Of Sound, Toolroom Records, Cr2 and SONY to name a few. With only a few short years under his belt in the international production scene, Dirty South’s potential to achieve tremendous musical heights seems limitless. This is the story so far, and there is definitely more to come from Dirty South…

Beard, box of records, bounces behind the decks. You seen one, you’ve seen them all, right? Wrong. You see Tom isn’t just a DJ. He’s a scientist; a meticulous technician with a thirst for all musical forms from breakbeat to baroque. Researching each and every project with eagle eyed glee, Tom approaches every venture, from productions to DJ mixes, with the attention to detail that’s usually reserved for the likes of architects, surgeons, engineers and (ahem) two bit biography writers. His mix CDs such as ‘The Sound Of The Cosmos’, ‘3D’ and ‘The Trip 2’ show true precision and forethought with Tom spending hours of preparation studying the key of each track and how they relate to each other. His ‘Crazy Covers’ compilations reveal an encyclopaedic knowledge of contemporary popular music from the 1950s to this very day. Not to mention a sense of humour. Many believe he was born with these razor sharp skills. Classically trained in piano and cello Tom understood music’s essential rudiments and theory long before he could grow those iconic whiskers on his chin. It’s this adept understanding of the true technicalities of music – how it works, how arrangements compliment each other and how you can convey the strongest message – that’s helped him carve a unique career that’s spanned from his deep space delights with Mark Pritchard as Global Communication and Jedi Knights to last year’s breathtaking debut album ‘Life Tracks’, a homage to the ambient and soundtrack music. To this day he refuses to sample other people’s music, preferring instead to create his own sounds using virtual orchestra and band software he’s programmed himself. Achievements are in abundance where Tom is concerned… The blissed out AMBA project pitched him alongside an orchestra and choir to maximum mesmerising effect. His 50 improvised performances with The Bays pushed dance music to its most unpredictable, wildest, limits. He helped Aphex Twin secure his first record deal and founded labels such as Evolution, Universal Language, Heard and E3. He’s flirted with chart success with the 2002 club smash ‘Take Me With You’, hosted his own show on Kiss FM, been resident at Ibiza’s most super of superclubs Manumission and tutored the winning DJ Ryan Shaw in ITV’s cult DJ challenge The Joy Of Decks. As a DJ he’s performed in almost every corner of the globe to crowds as large as 150,000. With his trademark widescreen musical repertoire, he’s spent years championing styles long before they were the norm, helping Ulrich Schnauss develop his career and hosting Hot Chip and Mylo’s festival debut appearances. From ambient to drum & bass, techno to rock n’ roll, his attention to detail allows him to find connections between the most disparate forms of music, uniting every genre with technical skill, utilising all manner of forward thinking technologies. Such versatility has also scored him a wide range of remixes, too, with artists as far flung as Prince and All Saints. More recently Tom’s seen major airplay action with ‘Remember The Love’ – his homage to the roots of house music written over the course of 24 hours at dance music’s inaugural International Music Summit – Forge on Digweed’s seminal Bedrock imprint, Orange Light’s ‘A Few Good Days’ and The Golden Girls’ stone-cold classic ‘Kinetic’ on the recently rekindled R&S. He’s toured with the Smirnoff Experience performing in Moscow, Paris and Shanghai alongside high profile acts such as Kelis, Faithless, Duran Duran and Mark Ronson and recently remixed classics ‘Oh Marie’ and ‘Quando Quando Quando’ for a worldwide TV campaign for Fiat. No, Tom is no ordinary DJ. He’s a true scientist, a self-proclaimed research freak who spends his life consuming information in the pursuit of authenticity, clarity and truth. Not just on music, but all his passions. From his love for innovative, simplistic design – he’s currently designing bespoke luxury villas in Italy and a domestic product to help mothers with newborn children – to his flare for fine food and wine. He even considered becoming a chef at point. Fortunately he didn’t, or dance music would be lacking one of its most unique, ardent, inventive ambassadors. LEE BURRIDGE BIO: In the decade that has passed since Lee Burridge discovered acid house music, raided the local record shops of Bournemouth and took to the decks, his illustrious DJ career has spanned at least three continents and seen him work alongside some of the England's most revered DJ's. In 1991 the South Coast scene was no match for Lee's dexterous talents and Hong Kong beckoned with the promise of a residency that would put Hong Kong on the clubbing map. Six years later, the undisputed King of the colony was guesting at most of the big club tour parties in Hong Kong, including Cream, Ministry, Malibu Stacey and Northern Exposure. In 1993 Lee turned his attentions to the now legendary full moon parties at Ko Pha Ngan, Thailand, with his residency at the back-yard club providing an inspirational alternative to the more standard nights around. Future projects already promise to launch Lee into the DJing stratosphere and confirm his position as a face to watch on the scene. His residencies at Tyrant, both at The Bomb and Fabric, Golden and Cream continues to provide clubbers with the slick, hard, deep house, trancey, breakbeat sounds they have come to expect from him and his guest appearances at Gatecrasher, Sugarshack, United, Rhumba and Kelly's Port Rush have introduced his style to club goers all over the country. Last year Lee broadened his DJ diary horizons to take in Thailand, Ireland, South America, Ibiza, Israel and Hong Kong where international club goers have voted with their feet for Lee's driving progressive style. 2000 will see him play in Greece, Ibiza, the States, Brazil and undertake an Asian tour. In 1999 Lee honed his studio techniques with the release of his mix CD 'Metropolis' (released on Tide), which received the Compilation of The Month thumbs up in Muzik. Future projects in the pipeline include collaborations with Breeder and Hybrid, a break beat track with Andy Page (who previously collaborated with Sasha), and various other remix projects including work for several other labels. With 1999 already a distant memory, the accolades Lee received - a new entry @ no. 33 in DJ Magazine's Top 100 DJ Poll, Muzik's DJ Of The Month and Mixmag's Best Up and Coming DJ, are the perfect platform to consolidate his rise in 2000 with the launch of his monthly Tyrant night with Craig Richards at Fabric and the launch of the Tyrant Compilation series on Distinctive Breaks which will showcase Lee and Craig Richards legendary DJ sets as previously seen at Space in Ibiza and The Bonaparte at the last two Notting Hill Carnivals. The Tyrant series is set to kick off in May with a series of parties stretching the breadth of the country surrounding the launch dates.
