Her dj sets were becoming increasingly minimal and the records in her box reflected a love of weird, challenging music. Invited by Richie Hawtin to open for him at his millennium celebration: Epok, Magda was entering a new phase in her career. In the time since, Magda has expanded her work with Hawtin, becoming his sole choice to open many of his recent Detroit and international events, including: Jak DEMF weekend :[2001], Control. labor day weekend: [2001], as well as earning an envious position on the line up of "From Our Minds To Yours" the Plus 8 ten year anniversary party. The next few months will see Magda going on her third european tour alongside Richie Hawtin and making the jump from dj to producer, releasing music under the moniker: Run/Stop Restore on the Minus label. TROY PIERCE BIO: After being raised in the cornfields of Indiana and brought up on Midwest house & techno (Richie Hawtin, Jeff Mills, Derrick Carter, D-Wynn), Troy became a bit jaded by ten years in New York where the struggling minimal techno scene consisted of a handful of die-hard fanatics going against the diva-tribal-teck-house of a city that has seen it’s day musically. Berlin seemed like the logical solution, go to the source. As 1/3 of RUN STOP RESTORE (along with fellow Berliner Magda and Canadian Marc Houle) their first release “The Geometry E.P.†(Minus #20) as well as their contribution to the Post Office # 2 (Telegraph) compilation have both been well received. After relocating to Berlin, the pieces are falling into place, playing BEATSTREET (the after-hours spot in Berlin), EGG and THE END in London. An exclusive live p.a. at VOLUME in New York for Minus as well as up-coming Minus European tour with Magda and Richie Hawtin slated to begin end of September. KATE SIMKO BIO: Chicago-based Kate Simko is a classical pianist turned left field house and techno producer. Releasing music on labels such as Spectral Sound, Kupei Musika and Traum, Kate draws from a wide range of influences, combining her sense of melody and structure with her background in Chicago house and Detroit techno. Whether playing live or DJ’ing, Kate’s musical selection maintains a warm, soulful character, full of funky bass lines and loose rhythms. Growing up studying piano and music theory, Kate discovered underground dance music during her teens and began DJ’ing on college radio in the late 90's. At this time, Kate made a switch from a degree in classical piano to electronic music composition. In 2001, Kate moved to Santiago, Chile, where she continued her studies in music composition and met Andres Bucci. Bucci and Simko combined forces and have since recorded two full-length records together as Detalles (Traum , Kupei Musika). A versatile DJ, Kate was named one of the Top 10 DJ's in Chicago by XLR8R magazine. Her music has received positive remarks in zines such as The Wire, XLR8R, de:Bug, Mixmag, URB, BPM and Remix and her Detalles project was named one of the 'Next 100' artists by URB magazine. Kate has performed at festivals such as Mutek (Montreal and Chile), the Detroit Electronic Music Festival and Worldtronics (Berlin), and has played beside a myriad of genre defining artists throughout the United States, Europe and South America. Back in her hometown of Chicago, Kate is honing her talents, producing and performing full time. Kate is continually evolving as an artist, combining her wide range of influences into her own music, creating a unique personal sound that crosses genre borders, blending rich textures, melodies and intricate programming with funky bass and groove.

A masterful spinner, his unique blend of trance, coupled with an exacting, pin-point precise mixing style has seen him power up the DJ rankings. In the summer of 2008 the gifted 27 year old spun his first Radio 1 Essential Mix and, in the course of the year, was one of only 4 trance DJs to do so. In the 2007 Top 100 chart, John was marked out as the man to watch by no less than 5 DJs. 12 months later he duly delivered on their predictions, entering at No.60 on the 2008 countdown. Last year he picked up the ‘Best Producer’ and ‘Best DJ’ trophies at the Irish Dance Music Awards; decisively conquered the notoriously-competitive dance-testing ground of Ibiza and became the first Irishman to play Trance Energy. In 2009 he stands at the threshold of dance superstardom. Production: Since making his first moves into music production just 5 years ago, John’s notched-up over 20 releases on some of the most respected labels in the industry, prompting Paul Van Dyk to mark him “one of the most exciting producers in the world todayâ€. Club killers like ‘The Chamber’, ‘Exactly’ & ‘Space & Time’ have all become mainstays of DJs sets on many revered trance imprints. In 2007 he released both his first compilation ‘Live As Vol.2’ and his debut artist album ‘Something to Live For’ through Discover Records. Later the same year, in collaboration with vocalist Audrey Gallagher, John produced ‘Big Sky’… By virtue of a 4-month-long club & radio hammering from the big 5, it was voted the No.1 trance tune of 2007 on Armin’s A State of Trance. ‘Big Sky’ has rapidly gained modern trance classic status, virtually taking on a life of its own. John also produces through a number of pseudonyms, including Joint Operations Centre and J.O.C. Under the latter he indulges his love of techno-fringed productions, releasing ‘Rotterdam’ on Sander van Doorn’s own ‘Doorn Records’. In 2008 John was called upon by Godskitchen to mix their Australian 10th Anniversary Compilation, closely followed by ‘Trance World Vol. 4’ which was released through industry giants Armada. John occasionally also collaborates with other select artists, most recently and significantly with trance-legend Giuseppe Ottaviani on the hugely-received VANDIT release ‘Our Dimension’. The spring of 2009 will see the release of John’s highly anticipated 2nd artist album on Armada Records. DJ: John caught his first DJing break playing on national Irish radio station 2FM’s ‘Sessions Tour’, which was broadcast on New Years Eve, 2003. He has gone on to throw trance-fire onto the floors of some of the world’s highest-profile clubs and festivals. Counted amongst them are Ireland’s Planet Love, Global Gathering, Trance Energy, WMC Miami, South America Music Conference and Creamfields, amongst others. 2008 went down as John’s all-important DJ breakthrough year... One that saw him play 6 nights on the White Isle, including Judgement Sunday & Armada at Amnesia, before going on in October to conquer Australia as part of Godskitchen’s infamous yearly nationwide tour. Latterly, O’Callaghan has expanded his fan-bases in Poland, The States, Argentina, Mexico, Canada, Slovakia and The Czech Republic – territories which he credits as being the deciding factor in entering the 2008 DJ Top 100 chart. In Utrecht in March of 2009 John will play the main-stage at Trance Energy – now widely regarded as the pinnacle apex of the trance calendar, a colossal accomplishment for the Irish virtuoso. The Subculture Radio Show: For the last two years John has presented his take on the trance scene, via his Subculture show on widely popular station, DI.FM. Subculture presents a crystal-clear monthly snapshot of John’s in and out of club sound, exploring the outer reaches of electronic music. The show goes out at 5pm UK time on the 2nd Monday of the month, noon US EST and 6pm CET. Remixes: Although his studio career carries more of an original production bias, John has lent his musical skill to many exceptional remixes. In 2005 his debut came in the form of the hugely-received rewiring of fellow countrymen Agnelli & Nelson’s ‘Shiver’. From there he went on to rework Dogzilla’s ‘Without You’, Ronski Speed's 'The Space We Are' & Filo & Peri's 'Anthem', amongst others. So taken was Armin by John’s 2008 remix of ‘If You Should Go’ that he took the rare step of asking O’Callaghan to rework a second track from his ‘Imagine’ album. John’s remix of The Doppler Effect’s ‘Beauty Hides in the Deep’ last year became a cult hit within the trance fraternity and is regularly sited as his greatest remix to date. He is widely regarded as one of the most in-demand producers & remixers in electronic dance music today.

BIO: Whoever contemplates the musical spirit of Patrick M is submerged in a great musical journey. Marcelo Morana a.k.a. Patrick M. was born in Argentina. His inclination towards music came at an early age thanks to his brother. Patrick M played for the first time at a club at the age of six-teen (16). Patrick became an active in the Buenos Aires Underground in venues such as El Divino, and Clooby in Brazil. Now considered a regular in Miami's weekly party circuit, Patrick M. is currently best known for perpetuating this city's reputation in the contended world of dance music. His, is currently a marathon network of parties that each lead to the ultimate definition of "having a fantastic night out." Stocked with a full armoire of lounging-it-up- pass-me-a drink, or get-up-and-dance-like-nobodys-watching kind of music, he has added a new meaning to the concept of spinning, making and selling records. LOUIS PUIG BIO: Louis “LP†Puig is the owner and creator of Club Space, The Space Terrace, Parkwest (Twilo Miami), Club Spin and Cameo in South Beach. Puig is the highly respected nightclub concept creator, innovator, designer, owner, operator and a veteran DJ with over thirty years of experience whose DJ roots go back to the early days of Disco at Studio 54 and The Palladium in NYC where he “spun†as an invited guest DJ. In fact, LP as his industry friends call him, was one of the first DJs in the world to use BPM to mix tracks in the 70’s and got his first nightclub gig at the tender age of 16 on South Beach. A true pioneer of dance music, LP has lived, worked and experienced every genre of dance music and while most of the UK and the world discovered Ibiza in the 90’s, Louis first landed on the Island for a gig in 81 and has gone back year after year to absorb fresh tunes and ideas. LP is also responsible for the music direction, programming and booking of all Club Space DJs and has shared decks with Paul van Dyk, Tiesto, Erick Morillo, Roger Sanchez, Victor Calderone and many others. His close relations to these artists and 9 years at Space have influenced LP’s current music style which he best describes as “an eclectic mix of intelligent electronic music.†Every Saturday night Puig joins Space Residents Oscar G, Cedric Gervais and Patrick M in igniting the Space dance floor and bringing the over 3000 capacity crowd to their knees. Experience, a sixth sense for what excites clubbers and the ability to read a dance floor is what makes Louis’s such a great DJ and world renowned club owner. Whether in New York, Munich, London, Paris, Ibiza, his native Miami or anywhere in the world, Louis always delivers a solid set of the best electronic music has to offer as well as fresh new beats and classic remixes to keep the dance floors pumping and crowds jumping STEVE PRIOR BIO: Step into the dark. Steve Prior enters the room and the restless crowd is hungry with anticipation-- they’ve waited deep into the night for his signature extended set and won’t leave until satisfied. The room is overflowing with scenesters, fashionistas, hipsters, house junkies and people who just love good music. For Prior, the music isn’t about other DJ’s or outside influences… it’s about crafting the ultimate experience, the defining moments you remember losing yourself to for years to come. He strives for mutual action and reaction in every set, and this approach works beautifully - he is one with the audience, and his audience is one with the music. He’s from Chicago and known as a ‘Chicago House’ DJ — but Prior chooses to sidestep the hometown connection and create his own name rather than dwell on where he came from. Some may say he’s crazy for not keeping the free association, but Prior took his misfit notoriety and used it to build a powerful base as a daring and innovative DJ in LA. Prior’s musical dexterity runs deep, from occult drops to natural breaks, but he’s not afraid to touch vocals or shift hard to an unexpected classic. It’s this type of controlled manipulation that keeps his audience demanding more. Whether he’s opening for DJ’s like Erick Morillo or Sander Kleinenberg or driving a staggering set at his Avalon Hollywood and Spy Bar (Chicago) residencies, you’ll find that Steve Prior is always right at home with his brand of house music. The Dutch superstar has consistently been voted one of the top 10 DJs in the world†(according to DJ magazine’s definitive Top 100 DJ chart) for five years. He’s played for hundreds of thousands of fans – sometimes at once – in amphitheaters, fields and nightclubs from Australia to Russia to white-hot Ibiza. He took the party island’s "Best Trance DJ" prize at the annual DJ Awards ceremony this year and two years ago; got tailed by some road-tripping fans on a Southern Comfort- sponsored, 26-city bus tour of America; and had his life’s work interpreted in music, video and décor at his annual Masquerade event "Full on Ferry", at 12,000-capacity arena Ahoy in his hometown, Rotterdam, The Netherlands. It’s all in a year’s work for the man who’s been called the "architect, pioneer, and instigator" of trance music’s global dominance. But within the close-knit international DJ community, Corsten’s regarded as something else too: A studio auteur with a fierce sense of sonic rightness; a real-deal producer who works solo, sans engineer, and creates the most complete, energetic, melodic records in dance music. His style is so singular that synthesizer manufacturer Roland commissioned a Corsten sound bank for their new SP-555 sampling unit. But it’s so broad that it could meld with Public Enemy’s classic cut "Bring The Noise," on a Corsten remix that Chuck D himself called "the ultimate concoction of pace, energy and lyrics." The world first experienced Corsten’s dance floor wallop in 1999, when the young and hungry artist created aptly named track "Out Of The Blue" (recorded under his System F moniker). It was the first of his eight Dutch gold records, and 10 U.K. Top 40 hits, the most ever by a trance producer. He released his debut album, "Right Of Way," in 2003; and the groundbreaking "L.E.F." – containing Duran Duran collaboration "Fire" – in 2006, which debuted at No. 1 on the iTunes dance chart. A keen sonic curator, Corsten serves as the head honcho for his record labels, Flashover Recordings, Aleph, Boom Tsjak, and Levare. On his new XM Radio show, "Corsten’s Countdown," he debuts new tracks every week and lets his faithful listeners – on the radio, and online – vote on their favourites for the month’s final chart. The show is the first of its kind to engage fans worldwide, and give them a direct hand in predicting and creating hits. Corsten has also used his high profile for good, serving as an ambassador for the KidsRights Foundation, which increases awareness of the plight of disadvantaged children worldwide. He boasts his own clothing line, Signature F, via Washington, D.C.-based iKY Clothing. Is Ferry Corsten a globe-trotting, club-packing, beat-dropping superstar DJ? Most definitely. But that's just the beginning of the story...one that's still being written.

In addition to his residencies with Release and Ruby Skye, Behrouz was recently appointed to a bi-monthly residency at Paris’s Red Light nightclub. The two Germans have produced such massive club hits like "Made Of Sun", "Velvet Morning", "Walk Down", "Kiksu", “Are You Fine?â€, “Always A Fool†and “Megashiraâ€. One little known K&A fact: all male vocals come from Steven Moebius Albert himself! In 1997 Kyau & Albert founded their record label Euphonic. With world exclusive artists like Ronski Speed, Sonorous, Stoneface & Terminal, Marc Marberg, Cressida, Sebastian Sand and Mirco de Govia, the label is one of the top brands in dance industry today. Euphonic also handled such heavyweight acts as Above & Beyond, OceanLab and Armin van Buuren for Germany. Their successful debut artist album "Here We Are Now" was released on 3 continents. They also remixed some of the biggest names in club land like Armin van Buuren, Kosheen, Gabriel & Dresden and so much more. Kyau & Albert’s remix of "Jump The Next Train" by Young Parisians became a worldwide club hit – already a true classic. Their 2nd artist album "Worldvibe" was released in Europe & North America in 2006 and in Russia, Asia & Latin America in 2007. In May 2007 Kyau & Albert mixed CD1 of the "10 Years Euphonic" double CD. Also in January 2007 the track "Megashira", a collaboration with the label mate Marc Marberg, was released. In April the single "Always A Fool" followed. In August 2007 the album track "7Skies" was released with new mixes. Furthermore K&A did an amazing remix for the Top 10 single "Love Songs" by Cinema Bizarre. The year 2008 started with a massive Kyau & Albert remix for the Cressida single "6AM". This Kyau & Albert remix became the best selling Trance track on Beatport in 2008! In February 2008 K&A played on the main stage of Trance Energy in Utrecht. Then in May a new double single "Orange Bill/Neo Love" together with Marc Marberg hit the stores. More remixes followed for Lange "Out of the Sky" and Paul van Dyk "Complicated" and in October 2008 the Kyau & Albert single "Hide & Seek" was released with a strong club mix. In March 2009 they finished the new double single "Hooked on Infinity/Be there 4 U" and released their album "Best Of 2002 - 2009", including all the K&A hits non-stop in the mix. Kyau & Albert are listed for the 3rd year now in the DJ Mag Top100 – ranked at #22. Kyau & Albert deliver massive, cutting edge DJ sets and their energy behind the decks is just simply infectious. Catching them live is something people won’t soon forget!

Both with a firm background in religious choir music and country they decided in 2003 to try and do something new. For their latest album entitled: ‘Lord we miss the groove!’, they decided to reset their careers and started making dance music. After moving from New York to Amsterdam , they instantly started working on a new ‘dance’ sound. In the beginning it was hard to remove all the country elements and that occasional ‘Sanctus’ that Peter always seemed to want to slip in. It was inevitable that a new way of thinking about music and about music production had to be developed. But soon they got the hang of it and the quality of their dance music increased dramatically. The first few releases on Deep records and Extrema records featured such well known tracks like: (Lord) Take my life, (put your faith) Put it in (the Lord), Trading places (in the confession booth). It was clear that they had left their religious/country/choir careers and had fully entered the world of dance music ! A string of releases followed on such labels as: Yoshitoshi, Alternative Route (to heaven), Release (yourself to the Lord) records, Sadie records, Plastic Fantastic, Nu Republic (of the Lord), Armada, Minimal records, DK records, LMR, showcasing an increasingly mature dance sound for the young and old! In the meanwhile, in 2004, Aad & Peter also started bringing their music to clubs, doing a collaboration with Dutch DJ / Producer Stef Vrolijk. Throughout the year 2004 they performed as a live act in conjunction with the DJ-sets of Stef, playing at most of the big festivals and big gigs in Holland throughout the year. As they enter 2006, the guys continue to tour extensively as DJ’s and are currently working on a new live show. The promise of a new double CD original artist album displays the many sides to the 16 Bit Sound. One CD will boast many of their club anthems, while the second will show the guys experimental side. The album is due for release in the opening months of the new year followed by some high profile remixes and studio collaborations. Seemingly, the world of dance music (just like the world of religious choir music / country before) is at their feet. Watch out for the 16 Bit Lolita’s in a club near you! It will be a spiritual experience! web site: http://www.16bitlolitas.com/
  8. PURE CHICAGO Presents... TRANZIT003 at Vision | TRANZIT003 | The TRANZIT event series was concepted by Chicago electronic music DJs Mario Florek and DNA, and was designed for a few simple reasons. They wanted to create an event that centered around the music they love -- melodic, driving, uplifiting, and floor-shaking trance. They wanted to present it in a big room and on a proper soundsystem, in order to do this music justice....And they wanted to present it in such a way that the mood and atmosphere was not cheapened by some of the more unimportant aspects of nightlife -- cliques, the superficial, and the "see and be seen". It is simply about putting on a night filled with thought-provoking and energizing trance music that brings everyone in attendance together under one unified vibe. He gained much of his experience as the go-to DJ for the notorious promoter, Disco Donnie. When he wasn't dodging the feds, it was these events where Trent received the opportunity to play alongside all of the top names in club music from Fatboy Slim to Sasha & Digweed, to Oakenfold and Derrick Carter. If a major jock rolled through New Orleans, no matter how different their style, Trent was always sharing the bill. In addition to these varied and high profile gigs Trent headlined around town and was also somehow able to find time for the occasional ten hour set. At one point he even had a residency where he got to fill all ten hours every week. Not a lot of DJs can handle too many extra long sets, or can excel at an opening slot one night and peak time the next, and even fewer can cater their sound to complement such a diverse range of DJs but somehow Trent manages to do all of that and more. After mastering any DJ-ing situation you could think of and reigning supreme as the top name in New Orleans for a few years, Trent decided to expand his horizons and hit the road for the West Coast. Deciding to skip the mecca of Deep and Groovy that is San Francisco, Trent headed towards the glamour and glory of Hollywood where his love of Rock and Roll and his passion for film could be indulged along with his electronic sensibilities. It is in LA that Trent's production work really took off on a global level. As his own tracks began charting high on labels like Ministry of Sound, Interscope, Little Mountain Recordings, Whoop!, and SR2 and getting play by just about every big name DJ you can throw out there, he started to build his la DJ profile and beyond. His talents have taken him everywhere you could expect, rocking the top dance-floors in NYC, Chicago, Las Vegas, Miami, Mexico, South America as well as all the top spots in his new home LA. When his smash rock hybrid hit "Runaway", co written with Nynex got essential new tune and scored as one of the top tunes at WMC 2005 he was clocked by Pete Tong as "One of the hottest dance talents from the US". For those who had seen him spin or heard his tracks, this was old news. Since then he has more than lived up to the billing, constantly one-upping himself. He has DJ-ed at the Playboy Mansion. He plays some of the biggest clubs such as Space Terrace in Miami, Pacha and Crobar New York, and Avalon in Los Angeles. He rocked in the New Year for LA's GIANT MAXIMUS New Years Eve bash. Not to mention touring alongside Pete Tong, Sandra Collins and Sander Kleinenberg from time to time. He even performed at America's best outdoor music festival, Coachella this past year. His original tracks and remixes continue to appear on compilation after compilation. Then, just for good measure, his remix of Maroon 5's "Make Me Wonder" hit number one on the Billboard dance charts. On the horizon is an upcoming remix off of Seal's new album for Warner Brothers, a variety of singles on labels such as Little Mountain Recordings, Organized Nature, and more. 2008 will also see the release of his full-length artist album. On the DJ-ing front he will be hosting his own "Sounds Like" residency night at LA's Avalon, as well as new digital label. From being the leading DJ in New Orleans and Los Angeles, to a leading producer around the world there is not much Trent Cantrelle has not done. But if he hasn't done it yet, chances are that Trent will be doing it soon. KENNETH THOMAS BIO: "Kenneth Thomas is without doubt one of the most promising young DJs in the electronic scene right now. There's an intelligence and a well defined style to his sets. He's quickly emerging as one to watch in the next generation of superstar DJs". When Paul Oakenfold has this to say about someone people can tend to stop and take a listen. Following in an elite class consisting of Dave Ralph, D:Fuse & Hernan Cattaneo, its seems every 5 years or so Oakenfold hand picks a future star to take under his wing and the latest selection is Kenneth Thomas. Out of Detroit, the birthplace of Techno, KT stands out with his emotional and melodic sound. Some might not see the connection of Detroit and his sound, but the connection is there. The same aggression that spawned the techno sounds of the 90's is the fuel that fires Kenneth to explore the emotional side of the musical experience. Music has always been a spiritual place for Kenneth and because the depth of this music goes well beyond a conscious level, there's an underlying exploration of emotion and experience in every set and track. In the last three years, Kenneth has also become a juggernaut in the studio having completed over 40 tracks and remixes for labels including Baroque, Armada, Om, Perfecto, Cuurve, Alter Ego, Hope and more. Now, busy working on his second EP for Markus Schulzs' Coldharbour and coming off recent remixes for David Guetta, Jan Johnston, Oliver Moldan, Jeff Mills and even Scott Wieland, we have seen this Dj at heart break new ground in the areas of production. Beyond DJing & Producing, KT is now also A&R for Perfecto Records and is helping spearhead the renaissance of one of the greatest labels dance music has ever seen. The future is bright for Kenneth Thomas. Now touring regularly around the world sharing his blend of progressive minded dance music his focus has never changed since day one, "This is the most amazing sound I have ever encountered, I just want to share it with as many people as possible".

Miami was never ground zero to a full-fledged subcultural movement. But it is where Oscar Gaetan, better known as Oscar G, has lived every day of his life. And that fact alone makes it a hub on the global underground. An award-winning songwriter, producer, and DJ, Oscar is one of dance music’s brightest and most enduring stars. As part of seminal production teams Liberty City, Murk, and Funky Green Dogs, he boasts hits – Billboard chart-toppers as well as underground smashes – in every decade, every trend, and every market. “Some Lovin’,†“Fired Up,†and “Dark Beat†are more than just tracks: They are moments, shared by clubbers worldwide. They’re the kind of moments Oscar still creates at Space Miami, his hometown superclub, where he’s been a resident DJ for a staggering eight years – coming full circle after a globetrotting career. Oscar and longtime friend and production partner Ralph Falcon grew up in a Miami enlivened by the fresh spirit of hip-hop. “Break dancing, graffiti and the music that went along with it: That’s really what got me into DJ-ing in the first place,†he says. By the age of 12, he was already spinning at school dances. Oscar and Ralph started working together at the end of high school, blending the sounds of their youth with the beginnings of house, like Ten City and Blaze; and the darker Euro bands of the time, like Depeche Mode and New Order. “We were always big on doing our own sound, with our own feeling and vibe in every aspect of it; from the way we mixed things to the sounds we chose,†says Oscar. “I remember being obsessed with that for years, and then people started to listen.†The early years bore some of the work for which they’re still best known, like often imitated, never duplicated vocals “Some Lovin’,†“If You Really Love Someone,†and “Reach For Me†(Tribal). Upon their release in 1993, the pair became instant superstars. “Europe kind of grabbed us,†says Oscar, so they spent a good amount of time touring overseas, eventually visiting every major and minor outpost of the global dance scene, including Zouk Singapore, Ministry Of Sound London, and Stereo Montreal. “Fired Up!†(Twisted), their biggest hit ever, followed in 1996. It topped the Billboard Dance chart, and even cracked the Top 100, peaking at No. 80. They would go on to remix countless major pop artists, from Madonna to Cher to Donna Summer; and appear on mainstream outlets like MTV and Top Of The Pops. The boys also cut two complete Funky Green Dogs albums for major label MCA, “Star†(1999) and “Super California†(2001). But their own measures of success were still decidedly underground: “Once Junior Vasquez played our records at Sound Factory [in New York], we felt like we could retire, and at that point we were like 20,†says Oscar. In March 2000, Space opened in downtown Miami with Oscar as the Saturday night resident, just as the world was paying its annual visit for Winter Music Conference. The club – with its cavernous main room, pummeling German sound system and nitrogen blasts – was the talk of dance world, and the legend of Oscar’s residency began to grow. The year 2003 was a big one. Oscar released the “Live @ Space†(Star 69) compilation, and won the Club World Award for “Best Resident DJ†(which he won again in 2007). Murk set a new Billboard Dance chart record, with five No. 1’s in a single year: Four singles from their self-titled artist album on Tommy Boy Records, and “Dark Beat†(Twisted), tribal house’s first real vocal anthem, which found its way from dance floors onto mainstream radio. “We came up with ‘Dark Beat’ in about 15 minutes. Whenever things come that quickly, you know there’s something to them,†says Oscar. “But we didn’t think radio or anthem; we were thinking more like, ‘Oh man, Danny Tenaglia’s gonna be all over this!’†In 2006, Oscar became one of Pacha New York’s only non-NY-based monthly residents, strengthening his bond with his home-away-from-home, and its rich dance history. He released a second installment in the Space series in 2007, starting new relationships with Nervous Records in the U.S. and CR2 in the U.K. CR2 also snapped up the Murk catalog, and commissioned new remixes of the classic tracks, including Paul Woolford’s takes on “If You Really Love Someone†and “Reach For Me.†And in 2008, after nearly two decades making music, Oscar released out his first solo album, “Innov8†(Nervous). Even though his passion for music creation is undeniable, it’s in his DJ booth where Oscar feels most at home. “On the music side, I’ve felt pretty energized lately, because the changes in the industry really enable you to be a lot more experimental and take more chances,†he says. “But DJ-ing to me always comes first: I really believe in it as an art form. Having a residency like Space, with a regular crowd, it’s the ultimate.â€

The DJs who flourish in this demanding environment go on to become folk heroes, not only in New York, but all over the world (see Larry Levan, Danny Tenaglia, Junior Vasquez). DJ Boris started his ascension to these ranks in 2004, when the native of St. Petersburg, Russia took up residence at New York super club Crobar. It was the culmination of years of workhorse gigging at almost every club across the Big Apple. But it was more than that too: It was a movement that has shown no signs of fading. Boris (birth name: Boris Inzhin) started moonlighting as a DJ while taking classes at the Institute Of Audio Research in New York. With a metronomic mixing ability and a penchant for expansive, groove-based power-house music, the jock quickly found work both in DJ and production booths, playing at clubs like Exit, and Roxy, and remixing artists like Janet Jackson, Jewel and Gloria Estefan. In 2002, his mix of Pink’s “Get This Party Started†hit No.1 on the Billboard Hot Club Play chart. His relentless approach to bring his cult of followers the best sound and experience possible has taken his production to even greater heights. Powerhouse industry labels like *69 Records, and Stereo Productions have wasted no time in signing Boris projects to their labels. Dancefloor missiles like "Automatic," "Everybody Tweakin'," "Lights Go Out," and Lisa Pure's "Movin On" have been embraced by a culture of beat aficionados, in and out of the many clubs DJ Boris has grown to call home. And if home is where your heart is then Boris must be endowed with a heart the size of North America. His movement has rewarded him with residencies in every major city. Now a regular on the city’s club circuit, the name of Boris started to become associated with unapologetically massive music: big drums, big riffs, huge build-ups and lots of energy. Propelled by the promise of a great party experience and by a growing affection for the approachable DJ and his humble manner, his crowd swelled. By the time Boris debuted at mega club Crobar in May 2004, his faithful numbered in the thousands, united under a spontaneously created banner: “Believe in Boris.†Boys stamped it on their T-shirts in masking tape, girls Sharpied it on their flesh, and eventually Crobar flashed it on their video screens: A battle cry for a clubber’s revolution. While at Crobar, Boris set the 30,000-square-foot club’s attendance record (a swinging-from-the-rafters 5,400), released his first mixed compilation (aptly titled “Believeâ€), and started to gig regularly outside of NYC, in markets like Miami, and Las Vegas. In 2006, when it became apparent that Crobar would close, Boris uprooted and moved his crowd 20 blocks north to Pacha New York, the first North American branch of the fabled European club brand, without missing a beat. He is still a Pacha resident. Boris’ faithful service to the clubbers of New York has been rewarded with two Club World Award “Best Resident DJ†nominations (one while at Crobar, and one while at Pacha), a DJ Times cover story, a top 5 finish in the national America’s Best DJ fan poll, and a new residency at super club Space in Miami. Add this to the already accomplished residencies he holds at Rise in Boston, Therapy in Rhode Island, as well as his regular appearances at Ruby Skye in San Francisco, 960 in Connecticut, Deko Lounge in New Jersey. He’s also become one of the reigning kings of Winter Music Conference week, throwing massive pool parties by day and after-hours marathons by night for thousands of fans. The spoils of success have not halted his enthusiastic work ethic either. His ongoing pursuit to creatively, and musically express himself to those who adore him, has no doubtedly outgrown our own country's limited borders. With his global campaign as New York's premiere DJ underway, believers can be found from all corners of the planet. Venezuala, Colombia, Marrakech, Barcelona, Madrid, Ibizia, London, Montreal, Mexico, and Toronto have all been blessed with his energetically extreme beat orchestration. Boris and his team are currently planning the release of his fourth mixed compilation, and a series of European, and South American dates to compliment his tremendous ability in the studio.

For nearly a decade, he has made a mission of not only bringing premiere underground dance acts to Chicago, Ibiza and beyond, but also playing alongside them on an international stage. When not performing on the decks, Dino G handles business as co-owner of Chicago’s acclaimed Spybar, hosting the venue’s flagship underground weekly “Dino G Presents . . .†and showcasing a slew of heavy-hitting, electronic music driven talent. Dino G’s entrance into the industry began early, taking cues from influences such as WBMX’s Hot Mix Five and the flood of radio mixes that dominated the day. By the time he started DJing and promoting shows in Chicago in 2001, he was well versed in the cultural language both behind the decks and on the dance floor. “Most of my experiences came from going to live events in Chicago, listening to mix tapes and asking DJ friends questions,†says Dino G, who parlayed the party into a professional career. By 2005, he was playing some of Chicago’s premiere venues, including Crobar, Vision, SmartBar and SoundBar. But it was Chicago’s Spybar that tapped Dino G to become one of its only residents in 2005, and by the following year, he invested back into the club by becoming part owner. With more musical and financial freedom, Dino G set his eyes on the prize, launching a Friday night weekly that would continually showcase a rotating cast of top international techno and house talent. Since 2007, the acclaimed “Dino G Presents . . .†has hosted the likes of Laurent Garnier, Loco Dice, MANDY, Pete Tong and Erick Morillo, to name a few. Additionally, Dino G reached out to the international stage with his “Spybar and Nine Channel Sessions†at Privilege in Ibiza, where he not only served as resident, but also booked the venue’s talent for the Coco Loco Room for Monday nights in the summer of 2007. Dino G has continued to evolve his career, playing everywhere from Czech Republic (Fabric) and Poland to Miami’s Space and Nocturnal. In addition to his Friday night weekly, he also has a quarterly residency at Avalon’s Spider Afterdark (Los Angeles). In 2008, Dino G started balancing his visibility on the decks with time in the studio. The summer 2009 launch of his tech-house label “2 Red Belts†with Spybar partner Garrett Belschner features his originals tracks as well as releases from some of tech house’s most respected artists. Additionally, he continues serving as Spybar’s talent buyer while marketing, managing and promoting club events. As an industry player, Dino G brings a collaborative attitude to the business that carries over into his profession as both a business owner and a performer. “Chicago is great in the fact that I get to work with a lot of other venues even though it’s such a competitive market,†Dino G says. “In the end, having a good time—that’s what it’s all about.†| PHATT!VAN | Phatt Ivan (correctly spelled: Phatt!van) is part of a longstanding group of DJs, who are now a staple in Chicago's nightlife scene. In 2003, four friends decided to make their dream reality; they brought all their ideas and music together, soon to render Chicago speechless. Today, NORdjs have become a household nightlife name. Regularly playing in the city's fittest venues, and having shared the decks with the likes of Paul Harris, Dave Seaman, Creamer & K, Deep Dish, Paul Oakenfold, Satoshi Tomiie, Steve Lawler, and Sandra Collins, NORdjs resume is quite impressive for only having been on the scene 6 years. NOR's humble beginnings soon translated to city-wide recognition with the city's hottest promoters. The crew's down-to-earth attitude and approachable nature soon gained significant respect with Chicago's clubgoers and socialites. The fusion of talent and musical inclination sets NORdjs apart as a versatile and unexampled group of DJs. It was only natural that NOR's next step was music production and international touring. Spanning the globe from Chicago to Miami and Eastern Europe, even NOR admits to not knowing what the future holds.

It was at 15 years old, back to 1983, that Antonio "To" Pereira got his first ever club gig at Lisbon Bataclan. By the time he was helping his Father at his Lisbon downtown record shop, a vital place for all the Dj's to get the most recent imported 12"'s vynil records. Since then DJ Vibe has been involved in all kinds of music activities from Dj to Production as well as playing live on Portuguese Band LX 90 or remixing other Artists. Considered by everyone the most sought after and well known of the Portuguese Dj's, Vibe had been also involved in the launch of the most important Clubs in Portugal in the last 20 years. Back to the 80's, he was invited to open club Plateau in Lisbon (1985/1986) a venue that will change Lisbon nightlife style playing to a very selective people like Artists, Cinema and Fashion Lovers. Records from Matt Bianco, Grace Jones, Quango Quango and The Cure were played regularly on this place that soon became the hotest spot in town and fast was to small for such a big demand of people that for any reason didn't wanted to miss those amazing parties. In February 1988 Dj Vibe was once again invited to open the legendary Lisbon Club Alcantara Mar. Also the name of the city area train station. Alcantara was a much bigger room (nearly 1500 pax) and inicially got extremely busy on the weekends going untill 9-10 am (new in Portugal). Vibe was also caught in London at the time by the Acidhouse Explosion and the music changes happenning there. Tracks from Artists like "Phuture", "Adonis", and "Fast Eddie" were first introduced in Portugal at the time. Classic and unforgettable moments at this Club when, in the middle of the night, he dropped stuff like Nina Simone "My baby just care for me", Nina Hagen "AfricanReggae" and Eric B and Rakim "Paid in Full", to finish later in the morning with the new more progressive sounds. Later, at this Club (1993/1994) underground smash Underground Sound of Lisbon ..So Get Up.. (co-written with Rui Da Silva) was heavy championed by Lisbon Dj Luis Leite turning this track into the most ever played there and also being the last record to be played before venue demolition. In 1988 "Summer of Love", Vibe joins the Kremlin in Lisbon where he played the most longer ever residency. Nearly 7 Years. The Kremlin works every night of the week except Sundays with Dj Vibe playing all night long. His love for the marathon sets probably started there. Kremlin was the first ever Club in Portugal to set an AfterHours party. The Club closed at 4am to re-open again at 6am. Sometimes drinks were served on the street as the crowd waits for the re-open at the door outside. Dj Vibe "Bombs" at this Club were Moby Age of Love, Joey Beltran Energy Flash and Snap The power to name only a few. Muzik Magazine UK first edition will named Dj Vibe and the Kremlin The Paradise Called Portugal. His excellent mixing ability and unique style playing a wide range of Dance Music with his set had made him unique. In the beggining of the 90's Vibe joins Portuguese Indie/Pop/Rock Band LX90, where he played the guitar and live samplers. Underground Sound of Lisbon production project is also launched with Rui Da Silva. He's also the first ever Portuguese Dj to remix Local Rock/Pop Bands like Ban and Radio Macau. USL had their smash hit So Get Up reached the top in specialized charts around the World selling over 40.000 singles, and more than a million on compilations with Tribal America Records. Soon they had their stuff remixed by some of the most notorious Dj's such as Danny Tenaglia and Junior Vasquez. Vibe,Tenaglia and DaSilva cooperate on the NYLX project with vocals from Lula to produce the track Goosebumps in 1996. USL single Are you looking 4 me (in the backroom) introducing Celeda, bumped right into 35th position at US Billboard Chart (March 1998) and wons a place among the 75 singles of the year (1998) choosen by British Muzik Magazine in 2000. USL single The lights was considered one of Miami's top 10 tunes by UK DJMag and UK DJMixmag voted it single of the April edition. Also involved in Radio since 1994, Dj Vibe starts Dancefloor show on National station Antena 3 with a 2 hour Saturday night mix. The show is still on the air today at the same station with a different format and now called Dj Vibe Mix Show, which broadcast 1 hour every Saturday to be repeated the following Friday. It was also played abroad on Kiss 102/100 in England and on Carl Cox (2003) and John Digweed (2004) websites. Before, Vibe had produced the show 4th Bairro to National Radio Comercial (1980). One hour afternoon Monday to Friday radio show. His first artist show was on Radio Energia between 1991 and 1993, every Saturday night. Since 1998 he's a resident at Lux Fragil in Lisbon playing all night in the Club Disco, a monthly Friday, turning his night a absolut classic at the Club with crowds coming from all over Portugal to catch him there. Aside of being involved on the launch of the most important clubs in Portugal, Vibe was also a special guest on the most relevant events in the country. He played or is a resident at the world's most famous Clubs, including Stereo at Montreal (one of the best sound systems worldwide) for the last 2 years. His hard work and talent are recognized around the world. Vibe has been classified among the World Top 50 Dj's in the last DjMagazine Top 100 Pools. DJ Vibe Global Grooves was a CD's triliogy on Kaos records which sold more then 25,000 copies in a small country like Portugal. New releases include You, with USL vocalist Ithaka. DJ Vibe recent cooperation with Victor Calderone produced Tranzient and Muzik, which are included on Stereo Sound 001. Unreleased Vibe productions Ibiza Mosquito Polen and El Ayoun are already included in many top DJ compilations. A recent remix of Portugal's most popular rock band Xutos and Pontapes and a upcoming DJ Vibe artist CD , more eclectic remixes and an extended DJ sets to come, means that DJ Vibe will remain one of the most influential figures in House/Electronic Music of the past, presente and future times. Vibe's main passion still Djing today.
