  1. if you have to ask that question than you have already made up your mind. karma in FTL and space in miami is apples and oranges. if they make it clear at the door that you get a drink with admission i dont see what the big deal is. and not everyone gets into space for free. I think this depends on the crowd. I'd rather pay a $5 cover in a heart beat if the music is good (and classic house IS good, very very good). While Space may be the (arguably) number 1 club in SoFl, it does not appeal to many of the older crowd that appreciates House music. And the older demographic has no issues with a cover... Of course, whether you can be successful with this strategy in downtown FTL remains to be seen.
  2. Hey Carisa, Sorry to hear about the trouble. I was checking out DL at W6 and everything seemed cool. I guess this was afterwards? Anyway, SoBe has it's good and bad as we all know, but I do believe it is not very safe at times, especially in and around thug row. I have access to a couple parking spots at 7th and Collins in a private lot. If you ever want to put your car there on a Fri or Sat. night let me know and I will see what I can do. -Vinnie
  3. To someone who has not met anyone here nor been posting much in the forums, this board can seem very elitist. I know others who have come away with the same perception and don't return. Don't give up. While I am certainly no "regular", I have met many of the folks and know that they are some of coolest people here in Miami. You may want to go to some of events listed here and introduce yourself... That way your not just another anonymous promoter trying to make a buck off the forums. Hope to meet ya soon!
  4. Hell naw... Chuck Chillout 0wnz!
  5. "We hardly knew ye..."
  6. HangTheDJ- Orlando simply cannot ever be like Miami or NYC or any other major cultural center. Without getting in to the details, I DJ'd in Orlando, did the mobile party scene and opened a couple nightclubs (most notably Orlando 317 and The House on Orange Ave.). In the process of doing this, we ended up fighting a loosing war against the political establishment. Ultimately, I gave up and came to Miami and lived happily ever after.... The End.
  7. Being the pitiful corporate creatures that some of us are (ahem), anyone know of a good Wednesday happy hour spot to help endure the work week?
  8. I'll try to check this out Wed...
  9. We were trying to enter this last year.... Our intention was to build a large MSN Butterfly and crash the damn thing in the bay... I wonder if it is too late now?
  10. hey... nice meeting you guys out there last night. Sorry I had to go so early but I had to be at work in the morning... Hopefully, we can get a few more heads out there next time... Would make a great warmup on a Saturday night before heading out to one of the clubs...
  11. I am still trying to make it tonight.. see evryone later!
  12. Sup, coach. Lately, I haven't had time to do squat.. Couple more weeks and things should be settled. Then, it'll be SNRG Central at 7th and Collins! I'll call ya..
  13. I've been meaning to drop by this place also... hope they got drink specials... you're gonna need them if I get up on stage
  14. I'm curious, how many of you believe that a person is "born homosexual" as opposed to making a lifestyle choice? My guess is that anyone opposed to same sex marriage believes that homosexuality is a choice and thus (as with most things in western religion) he who makes a "wrong choice" should suffer. IMO, both sides of the arguement are correct: a person is "born gay" and some make the choice to "live gay" and some do not (in the closet)... Now, any legislation drawn up to outlaw same sex marriage, is inherently against a (possibly) natural disposition. Humanity comes in many shapes, forms and with many different beliefs. Let's not start allowing our laws to dictate against that which is not in our power to change.
  15. Read this http://abcnews.go.com/wire/World/ap20040228_266.html If true, US forces have partitioned off an area in which Osama Bin Laden hides. The Bush administration may be waiting until closer to November or < 40% approval, at which point they give the order to have Osama arrested and publicly announced. Part of me wants to belive that no US leader would attempt to manipulate the public like this for the sake of an election, but it seems quite logical and within the character of this current administration... The hardline Bush supporters will call this story some sort of "Liberal Propaganda" but look at the sources: 1. Iran's state radio 2. The Pakistani English Paper The Nation 3. The Associated Press
  16. Xavier Gold/Ralphi Rosario- You Used To Hold Me... Woops, now Inner City- Good Life...
  17. Am I the guy who "keeps asking about artists for body painting"? Anyway, if I am, yes they will be painted (top only) and yes they will be dancing but for the sake of performance art... I don't think it will be any more "indecent" than what we see on the beach. I am going to run it by the City Manager prior to the event though just to be sure... Maybe I'll invite him and a couple commisioners
  18. George Morel is cool.... while he is based in Miami, he did a lot of Strickly Rhythm stuff back in the day...
  19. In the name of "local art", we'll make the painting process part of the TV show..
  20. I got the number thanks.. I'll give him a call soon and let him know where the referal came from...
  21. Hmmm... uhhhh... ahhhh.. could you rephrase that?
  22. Is the wave file standard 16bit 44.1kilohertz sampling rate? I am assuming your file is approx. 670 megabytes. Is this correct? Most CDs can fit 700meg/80 minutes of 16bit 44.1k audio. Check your Goldwave defaults and make sure you are not recording at a higher rate. Also make sure you are using a new, blank CD. It is possible that you are using a CD with a prior session recorded on it... Does the newly created MP3 play on your computer outside of Goldwave? Did you burn the MP3 as a "data file"? If so, does the Stereo you are using support the MP3 format? Did the MP3 automatically get converted to Red Book audio by your burning program? Some application do this in an effort to make things "easier"..
  23. Does anyone know of an artist or local company that can body paint bikini tops on dancers? You know, Sport Illustrated swimsuit style like this: I need some for an upcoming event...
  24. You'll need to help us help you by providing more spcific info... Ok.. did you record the mix within Helix as a wav or ra session? Real Player can be associated with either type of file, so I can't tell what you've done.. By "record it to cd" do you mean you burned your mix on to the cd as a data file? Or did you try to use a decoder and burn the cd as an audio disk? Last question... Why are you even using that Real Audio stuff. Real Player is evil... Resist the urge...
