  2. as far as i know, glowsticks are barely sold in Europe on this glowsticks d r a m a, i'm surprised none mentionned the 'drug paraphernalia' factor. in 2001, promoters from New Orleans went to jail for 'being negligent in their attempt to stop drug use'. pacifiers and glowsticks are now regarded as further proof of illegal actions. [most of this post comes from MIXER MAGAZINE, january 2002, page 49]. DT just wants to keep his weekly party, and giving the best time to his guests. if one glowstick dancer bothers 10 clubbers, i think he must throw his sticks off.
  3. Queen club is still good: saturdays and sundays are VERY gay Rex Club: underground music, excellent sound system but the crowd is sometimes disappointing WAGG (former Whisky A Go Go): new club on the left bank just opened by Fabric (London). 8. the security guard simply did the job. do you have in mind that, if he were a cop, they would have shut down Vinyl again? if you want to do drugs, that's fine, just don't do it in the clubs! do i have to remind you that one of the reason Twilo got closed was because of the drug issue?
  9. 100% French born and raised in France, i live in Paris but graduated from Georgia State University
  10. i think the translation would be "baiseur de cheval" or "enculeur de cheval"...but we don't use this expression. try "zoophile"
  11. why don't you search the Web for those records? a good search engine like www.google.com will provide you with the label's address or some stores. or try: www.gemm.com
  12. hi i must get in touch with Victor Simonelli or someone at Nu Groove label (is it still alive?). a french label wants to release one of Victor's tracks on a compilation. feel free to pm me. thanks
  13. Earth is so HUUUUUGE the roof is as high as Notre Dame Cathedral here in Paris the sound system could be improved, it sounded a bit hard on my ears. i arrived at 6am, no search (though i don't do drugs, it's nice to avoid the "cavity search" LOL), stayed till 12 noon (new hour). JR was OK, i don't like the hard house sound he played, but he threw many classics, overlaid some samples which was cool. crowd: chelsea boys and their girl friends Stacy, Tina, Kathy...
  14. i'll fly to NYC to support my friend Mac C c u on the floor...and sunday morning @Earth!

  20. Xpander.nl Deep Dish interview by Lisa Loco Smouldering onwards and upwards Sharam Tayebi and Ali ‘Dubfire’ Shirazinia have been around the block for a decade but are more relevant now than ever before. Their genre blending style and finesse has carried them high and dry above other House acts and Tenaglia is the only DJ who could possibly be ranked above this deeper than deep duo. Epic and grandiose Deep Dish know they’re something special and are notorious for being a little ‘moody’. Their creative rivers run profoundly deep, they have an unmistakable sound, deeper than most and together with their record labels, Yoshitoshi, Deep Dish Records and the latest Shinichi Recordings, are definitely once more on the rise. Both Ali and Sharam were born in Iran but their paths did not cross until 1991 at a dance music event in Washington D.C. They soon kicked their part-time retailing jobs into touch when together they set up Deep Dish Records in 1992. By 1994, they were dominating the Washington D.C. scene and had set up another label for like-minded sounds, Yoshitoshi. The very same year Danny Tenaglia convinced Tribal UK Records to sign Deep Dish to their new Tribal America subsidiary and the pair set about hitting the dance floor charts. In 1995 the Deep Dish career was set in stone with the formidable mainstream dance hit ‘Hideaway’ by De’Lacy, which catapulted the duo to another level in the business. The remix work then came flooding in thick and fast for Ali and Sharam. They ‘touched up’ the likes of Michael Jackson, Tina Turner, Pet Shop Boys, Everything But The Girl, The Shamen and The Beloved, among others. It appeared to be remix heaven for this flavoursome pair with the release of several mix albums. Then came their first ‘proper’ studio debut – ‘Junk Science’ in 1998. Unadulterated quality and way ahead of its time this album went on to gain the acclaim it so rightly deserved. Only one year later Deep Dish gained even more momentum with the greatly appreciated ‘Yoshiesque’ in 1999 and ‘Yoshiesque 2’ in 2001. Sheer brilliance, and as always, forward thinking earned them massive respect with all those ‘in the know’. Now they prove again they’re up there with the best with their latest offering from Moscow with dub, Global Underground... 29th October 2001! LisaLoco (LL): Looking at the ten year stretch of your career’s, were the abundance of remixes released after the hit ‘Hideaway’ a conscious commercial decision, or simply a result of offers received? Sharam: “Back then when the De’Lacy thing blew up we weren’t as silly busy as we are now so we could just do the work as it came in really, so we did a lot of remixes”. LL: You are famous for their ‘sound’, a magical myriad of musical genres, a cutting edge blend laid down with a unique style. How would you describe it yourselves, and could they? Using words (or any other methods or means of the imagination). Sharam: “Whatever the vibe is in the studio is what we just go with...” Ali: “It’s very eclectic,” LL: What are your favourite Tenaglia tracks? Ali: “There are too many to mention from Tribal America that are unbelievable!” Sharam: “There’s also this remix he did of a Japanese artist Attiko. It’s a classic remix that no one ever got near to. I call him the Robert De Niro of Our House!” Ali: “He was our Mentor, we studied, so to speak under him. We call him our Mother!” LL: You now have a shop in Washington D.C. which is doing really well taking it online at deepdish.com, tell me more... Sharam: “We’ve just launched some drum n’ bass on our online shop, which has gone down well, and each month we’re gonna’ add a new genre…you can get exclusives and promo’s too!” LL: I wonder sitting here in the plush surroundings of this hotel what drives them to continue now they’ve ‘made it’, or rather what inspires them to make music these days? Sharam: “Girls!” LL: Does it help if you are in love then? Sharam: “Emotional upswings do help, but it’s mostly the challenge of the work. I don’t know what it is with our stuff but whatever mood we are both in it always comes out dark and evil!” LL: So with the Deep Dish label’s being at the razors edge of fine tracks what other labels do the pair believe are also as forward looking? Ali: “There’s only us!” Sharam: “Hooj Toons have made a big impact, I don’t like labels that are only one dimensional, in that you always know what to expect from them. We like Subliminal because they experiment, although they’ve got their own sound. We’re gonna release some more stuff on Deep Dish Records soon, this label we reserved for ourselves and we’ve only had eight releases out on it so far”. LL: I finally ask for an exclusive revelation or an exciting piece of ‘new’ news, which they could tell me... Sharam: “Shh! We’re not gonna’ tell anyone about it, we’re gonna experiment under pseudonyms on Shinichi Recordings” LL: What about your latest mix album, Global Underground 21 – Moscow? Sharam: “It was an interesting city, given where we are from originally (Tehran), where we live (D.C.) and where the CD is from (Moscow), anyone with a bit of knowledge of world history should see the irony...". Secret squirrels Deep Dish are facing exciting times, going underground again – full circle, still staying gold and always honouring their mother! And they are right up at the top with Danny T and his Athens (Global Underground) journey check out Deep Dish from Russia with dub! Tehran agreements in 1943: Staline, Roosevelt and Churchill
  21. don't want to make you feel you bad but it's weird to see the URL for Dance Safe.org i thought "do not mix up drugs" is one of the basi rules when you do drugs hope you'll recover
