me and my friends went out to DEEP this past saturday to check out the New Platinum saturdays party. Its downstairs in the Lower Level of deep. Really cool lighting on the walls, and the whole room down there is like all VIP! we ended up buying three bottles - and got the third one for half price Everyone was really cool - great crowd - great atmosphere! i think it was a DRA Productions party (guessing from the banner) lol.. but they had the SICKEST dancers! and the music was awesome - house/tribal - they had free cds too which was cool. All in all an awesome night - I plan on going back this saturday too.. Hope to see you all there!

Im going out on XMAS NIGHT - TO DEEP Lower Level... i went last sat for the grand opening of platinum saturdays in the lower level and it was HOTTTTT!! such an aawesome crowd and the greatest house/tribal music in the city - i swear! i think its a DRA Productions party. Im not BLAMING JP OR his MUSIC for drug use... but if he played the type of DANCE MUSIC that he used to back in 97-00 people would be DANCING and not SITTING (doing drugs)! No one can DANCE to what JP has become infamous for... 30 minute songs and filler BEATS! THATS why his crowd slowly started to do more adn more drugs.. there was nothing else to do.. PLAY THE MUSIC THAT KEEPS EVERYONE ON THE DANCE FLOOR!!!

ok ok.. ill eat my words, after i had to hear it from all of you calling me an asshole and a moron. Im sorry I didn't get out of my car and wait on line. After going around the block 3 or 4 times and not seeing the line moving, I figured that there was no way I was making it in before 2am. I'm glad that it was free though, and that everyone made it in. I guess there's been just sooooooo many times that these things turn out to be scams and rips, I was just expecting the worst. KUDOS to CLUB PLANET for comming through on a great event (from what Ive heard) I apoligize for my pre-emptive rant....

I knew it was too good to be true, and I should have known better then to even bother trying to go... It was bad enough that they held this so-called "Customer Appreciation" Night on a night when the clocks go ahead an hour, making it so that you really had to be therre before 1am, not 2am. Then, obviously they hold up the line for what seems like forever! even though inside im sure its completely empty.... just killing time so lesss people can make it in for free before 1am. and Paris and Tasha weren't even outside ... at all before 1am. So everyone HAD to wait on line! What a RIP! If Club Planet really appreciated it's customers they should have made the time a little later, knowing full well that it was daylight savings. And there's no need to make people wait on line at 11pm, JUST to build a line, when you know full well its totally empty inside. I know its just nightclub tactics to make it look like the place to be - but it's that mentality that pisses me off. Don't advertise that its free before a certain time, and then not let anyone in until after that time. needless to say, i drove past twice, saw the line around the corner, saw that neither paris or tasha was outside, realized even if i got on that line now, i still wouldnt make it in before 1am, and then drove home and went to sleep.. FUCK THAT!

yeah, its great to see a group of people working together for a single cause, there needs to be more people like you in this industry, and it is true that clubbers, promoters, and dj's (especially) need to unite to work together to help each another instead of this 'every man for himself' attitude. your premise is in the right direction, but i think your ideas are a little jaded if you think you can ressurect that free loving vibe from those times. everything changes, you can never go back, only forward. the city is drastically different from those days, and we as clubbers dont have the kind of freedoms that we used to have in those days... hopefully things will start to change for the better in nyc nightlife, and it is good to see that there are people out there trying..

i personally think sf and jp were in there prime from 97-99, ater that it just started going downhill, the 'good looking' exclusive crowd left when jp's music started to change (for the worse) and the club had to start letting in just anyone, which brought in a much younger, less dressed up crowd... and you know the rest from there.... in terms of you asking where jp's followers are now, i think alot of the old school sf heads, like myself, all have grown up and dont really go out anymore, and if they did, they probably certainly wouldnt go hear jp, since his music now has changed greatly since the times of 97-99... and the crowd is drastically different with alot more drug activity. as far as why nyc isnt filling up black every sat, that is simple: the feds are everywhere, from what ive heard there are more cops there then customers, and since the majority of jp's crowd prefer to do drugs, well, they just cant go if its under that much scrutiny. who wants to risk getting arrested? so, the numbers are little because since you cant do drugs there, there arent many sober people to fill it up... thats the bad part about attracting a mostly drug oriented following...

im going to black this sat for the first time, only cause its free if you print out that invite. I have heard that the numbers are way below, last wknd only pulling in about 300, that may be why they are doing this cp appreciation nite there, to build up interest... i feel as if i watched sf deteriorate and i almost wish i hadn't. i kind of wish i had left it when it was still good so it could remain with that impression in my mind. but ive seen it at its peak and ive seen it at its best, so i choose to only look back on the good times. when jp was playing truly amazing! not just repetitive beats and 30 minute songs over and over... lets see... if you are from boston, did you know shawn mass? or did you ever know rayray? do you remember sf before they built the catwalk all around and moved the dj booth, there used to just be that little lounge that hung over the dancefloor? it was usually roped off or there was someone there to regulate who gets in? if you remember that or know any of the people i spoke of PM me!

here here... lets segregate hip hop to be exclusive to its own radio stations, nightclubs, etc... no more hip hop taking over everything that was once solely house!

i work in the garment district 34th street. and in jersey i live in south orange. i know what you mean, sometimes its like all i feel im doing is work eat sleep... i live for the weekends now, but they are so sacred, i usually spend most of the time at home doing things i cant get done during the week, which leaves little time for going out

hi guys, I wrote that post a few weeks ago after SF was raided and there were four OD's at Black on opening night. It was originally posted here on the Club Planet Message Boards but under the New York category so thats why you may have missed it. Im glad though that it is being passed around in email format. Thanks to everyone for taking the time to read it.

Ecstasy Rising - Peter Jennings - Show was AMAZING! r/o I hope some of you had a chance to catch the "Ecstacy Rising" special with Peter Jennings last nite on channel 7. It was amazing to watch and learn about the rise adn fall of this popular drug. I was also suprised to see the spin they put on it, it really showed that the US government basically 'made-up' the so called 'scientific facts' that E causes permanent brain damage. In other studies done last year in germany and England, impartial scientists discovered that after repeated use the levels of serotonin in your brain only decrease by 4 - 5%, and they are restored back to normal after 3 months of abstinenece... Basically it proved that the US couldnt find anything "socially wrong" with the drug, there were no deaths, fights, health risks, social problems, etc. and basically it was touted as a "love drug" or "hug drug" and was doing wonders in psycotherapy patients who had experienced post trumatic stress. In one instance, a woman who had been raped became withdrawnfrom life and was able to be rehabilitated through the use of MDMA. great things could happen if this drug was used properly under a physicians care, however, the good ol' US of A cant stand anyone using a drug to have a good time, regardless of its medical benefits or lack of health risks.. and used thier emergency power to pass alaw making MDMA a scheduale 1 drug, along with marajuana, cocaine and heroin. They also interviewed the original people who first used mdma back in the 80's when it first blew up in dallas tx. These men were rather old, and they had experienced no permanent brain damage or health risks. In fact, the man even said, I have taken over a thousand pills in my life, and I have no health problems associated withthe drug at all. Its just interested that the show actually proved the US's underhanded ways of drumming up propaganda for a drug that the public didnt really see as a threat, and the govmt had to make up this so called scientific evidence in order to scare away potential users. its a shame the war on drugs actually ruins more lives by the laws that govern the drugs, rather then the actual drugs themselves...

what the hell is a club planet nametag? are you people really wearing nametags to this meetup? funny story:: back when clubplanet was clubnyc, there was a 'meetup' at SF at 4am, and this one guy told everyone on the board that we would know him because he would be wearing a band-aid under his left eye. imagine how hard we were laughing as we watched him standing alone at the meetup spot at 4am sharp, with a band-aid on his face! LOL....

I work in manhattan as a fashion designer. and in response to that last post. I stopped doing drugs about 4 years ago, (except for smoking weed, which I dont consider a drug) so No, I won't need any money to have a good time.

First of all, the reason your getting this type of response is because typically nightclubs have always been associated with house music. Being that this is a 'nightclub' message board, most of the people on here tend to prefer dance music over hip hop. In my opinion... Hip Hop is like a disease that is spreading like widfire. It is bad enough that hip hop has pushed it's way into nyc lounges adn small clubs that were once exclusively house music. now crowds are mixed, and DJ's are forced to abandon their personal styles and play half hip hop and half house to cater to these crowds. the so called mega-clubs are some of the only venues left that play strictly dance music. hip hop is taking over and slowly 'infecting' all the places where house music once reigned supreme. hip hop needs to find its own radio stations, and its own clubs - because it is quickly depleteing an already struggling house scene.

Everyone makes good points. I agree with sheagodiva that the US Govnt did "jump the gun" so to speak on making mdma a scheduale 1 drug immedaitly. Its use for medicinal purposes should continue to be explored and it should be legal to use in a controlled enviornment under a doctors care, as it was used in those cases mentioned earlier to treat patients. However, i feel the same way about marijuana, that it should without a doubt be legalized if not throught out he country, then at least for medicinal purposes. Although our govnt could drastically reduce the nat'l debt if they legalized marajuana and taxed it like ciggarettes, the tobacco and alchohal industry contribute so much money to the US govnt, that that day will probably not come anytime soon. but i could go on about marajuan legalization all day.... as far as mdma is concerned, im not promoting the use of it, in fact, no one should use it unless they are completely informed about the effects and only use in moderation; or unless they are using for a medical condition under a doctors supervision. however, because the US's policy on drugs , we may never know the true wonders that mdma could have in helping other people, or treating other diseases...

i went to college in nyc and i have worked in nyc full time for 3 years now. i spend more time in nyc then i do in my home state of nj. thanks for all the help guys, but i called the club planet offices here and they assured me that its no cover with the invite before 2am.

im not cheap.. im just broke. just paid rent, i only have 27$... im not going all the way into the city just to find out i have to pay when i get there... asshole. can someone please tell me if its truly free or not, or what time i have to be there in order to get in for free?

I dont want to go expecting to get in for free adn then have something come up where youhad to call in advance, be on a certain list, come before a certain time, be able to do a handstand, have a certain bloodtype.. whatever. LOL.. i dont know about the OD'ing - i actually didnt see alot of rampant drug use at exit ever.... not like at factory at least.. but exit did suck. the whole space sucks. they made it too big and the sound doesnt carry well set up in the open rectangle warehouse shape that it is.. its not set up correctly (acoustically) and its so big that it never looks packed, which is good and bag, good since theres always room to walk, but bad because if you get a slow nite, it really looks empty. just my opinion though. i only liked exit when it was carbon.
