  1. I know that Saturday Night Live has a legacy behind it, but I'm curious about something: which show do you guys find funnier, SNL or MAD TV? I've always been a fan of SNL, but I thought the cast on MAD TV was more talented and, overall, more funny. I liked the acting and the skits better.
  2. I'll definitely try to get over there at a decent hour tonight.
  3. I went to Viper for the first time this past Saturday for a friend's birthday, and the decor has changed quite a bit from the old Wall Street. It actually looks alot better, and the place struck me as a nice after-work, get-the-night-started-with-a-few-drinks type of place. Plus, the DJ booth seems to be right on the dancefloor, which can, in some cases, make the night even better, depending on what's being spun. I'd love to make it out this Thursday, but finals are in a few days. I'll save my energy for Nation tomorrow night - the music will be fuckin disgusting. Low End Specialists and Rob James, baby - it doesn't get any better than that.
  4. Anyone heading over to Nation @ Merlot to hear LES? Their last two visits to Nation were pretty insane, so I'm sure this Friday will be a phat night of music. Merlot's located at 11 Montauk Highway in Blue Point, NY. Resident DJ Rob James will also be in attendance.
  5. Intimitation? I can see why law school was only a "thought" for you. Many people can analyze this and that, but that doesn't necessarily mean they know their heads from their asses, especially when they can't even write a decent sentence or spell correctly. Try not to write anymore stupid shit - it's an insult to actual law students on this board.
  6. Disco's actually a pretty phat spot for Junior's party. Even though Earth was actually pretty good at one time, the building was just way too big for his venue, making the vibe less intimate. The Halloween party he did at Disco last year was insane.
  7. Rock's early material was less political. When Chris had his show on HBO, it was funny as shit, and it was cool because he actually got the chance to do some no-holds-barred interviews with some interesting people. Rock's show was definitely hilarious, but Chapelle's is a little better. Chapelle's and his writing team are just brilliant, and they come up with some tear jerking stuff. As far as stand up goes, however, Chris is definitely the better of the two.
  8. Who's up for some wicked tunes tonight? DJ Boris & DJ Rob James. I'll be there around 11 or 11:30. I'm definitely getting torn-the-fuck up tonight. 69 Wall Street - Huntington Village, NY (for those who were wondering).
  9. Tonight will be fuckin nice. Dj Boris & Dj Rob James. See you guys tonight.
  10. Rob, Matt, and the rest of the crew - I'll see you guys tomorrow night. I've been itching to hear some wicked shit since the mishap with the Commack spot. Rob, kill us with a few dark, bottom-heavy tracks tomorrow night.
  11. In my experience, a comfortable pair of Rockport or Florsheim walking shoes will do the trick. Both of them are comfy as hell.
  12. He's back in Queens. Reminds me of his days at Metropolis, lol.
  13. Rob, can't wait to hear what you have in store. I'm sure the vibe inside of Coda for Nation fridays will be nice and intimate, which works out perfectly for the Nation crowd. And Kim, glad to see you're going to "pencil" me in! That way, you can erase me if something else pops up!! I'm sure you'll be having loads of fun at the seminar. Let me know how it goes!
  14. We'll hit up Houston's soon enough. I love the food there. You're coming out on the 16th, right?!?!?!?!?!
  15. Over the past few years, house music (and almost all EDM for that matter) has been more and more scarce on the Island, and has been taking somewhat of a backseat to hip-hop, both on the radio and in local nightclubs. MattM2o, Dj Rob James, Jesse, and others have been working hard to establish an underground venue right here on Long Island called "Nation." For the past few months, Nation, a friday night party, was located in Commack, NY, at the corner of Commack Road & Jericho Turnpike. As of recently, the party has moved to Coda Lounge at 69 Wall Street in Huntington Village, NY. Those of you who frequented Nation over the past few months know very well what kind of venue it is, and you also know the type of djs who've spun for the crowd - Rob James, Razor, Mike Macaluso & Peter Bailey, Johnny Vicious, Low End Specialists, Chris & Kai, Dj Boris, Dj Hurricane, Sheldon Romero, Anthony Nero, Eddie Baez, and Dj Merritt for the Asseteria roadshow. Even on nights where no special guest djs are booked, there is literally an armada of local underground talent on hand to turn shit out for the crowd. The few of you on this board who know me know that I'm not a member of the Nation staff, and that I'm not being paid to promote for the club. I am, however, a very strong supporter of parties that actually try to keep something special like this alive on the Island. I definitely want something like this to stay in my own backyard, and there's absolutely no reason why that can't be possible. There's absolutely no reason why residents of L.I. should have to cross the East River every Friday night to enjoy some real fuckin music, and have to deal with petty, bullshit drama at the door, pricey admissions, and unnecessarily strict dress codes. I hope to see all of Nation crew at the new location, and I also expect to see all of those who've been dying for a night like this to return to the Island. Fuck all the cynical bullshit about how much L.I. sucks, and how there are no real house music parties on the Island - let's show our love for the one party that is trying to bring something real back to Long Island. The party continues as of Friday, April 16th at Coda Lounge. Dj Boris will be kicking things off, and Rob James will be hopping on the one and two's around 4 a.m. Dress Code is non-existent, admission is cheap, afterhours are in effect, age limit is strictly 21+, and the music.......well, just come and listen for yourself. No shit talking needed, but you will not be dissapointed. Hope to see many of you on the 16th.
  16. You're right. Over the past few years, real house music (and EDM for that matter) has been more and more scarce on the Island, and has been taking somewhat of a backseat to hip-hop. MattM2o, the individual who posted earlier on this thread about the various house music shows he used to host on 105.3, has been working with others, including DJ Rob James, to revive an underground venue right here on Long Island. That Friday night party has been known as "Nation," and for the past few months, it was hosted in Commack, NY, at the corner of Commack Road & Jericho Turnpike. The few of you on this board who know me know that I'm not a member of the Nation staff, nor am I being paid to promote for the club. I am, however, a very strong supporter of parties that actually try to keep something special like this alive on the Island. I want something like this in my own backyard, and there's no fuckin reason why that can't be possible. I hope to see all Nation heads at this party, since our Friday night spot is back, and I also expect to see all of you who've been dying for a night like this to return to the Island. Fuck all the cynical bullshit about how much L.I. sucks, and how there are no real house music parties on the Island - let's show our love for the one party that is trying to bring L.I. back to its EDM roots. The party continues as of April 16th at Coda Lounge. Dj Boris will be kicking things off, and Rob James will be hopping on the one and two's around 4 a.m. Dress Code is loose, afterhours are in effect, and the music.......well, just come and listen for yourself. No shit talking needed, but you will not be dissapointed. Hope to see many of you on the 16th.
  17. There isn't one thing I hate about this movie. I love every song in it. "Modernaire Modernaire..........want to be a modernaire..........."
  18. That's actually not a bad response, lol. I can see you don't like being cursed at! Hip Hop (at least maintstream hip hop) changed from an actual art form into absolute garbage. It's one of the most listened-to genres of music now because of all of the bullshit it represents and portrays. I don't like making stupid, half-assed generalizations about something as diverse as a particular genre of music, but the majority of rappers out there right now, on television, making millions of dollars, rap about meaingingless, mindless, senseless bullshit - I can't believe they get paid as much as they do for that shit. And one can easily say, "well they must be doing something right, becuase they're making millions off of it." The only thing they're doing right is continuing the downward spiral that hip-hop has been on. The culture of hip hop itself has been tainted, and has become dirtied by unwanted hands. Hip Hop caters to a completely different audience right now. I mean, it's good to see that it has finally reached the masses, but unfortunately, it's lost its quality in the process. There still exists the underground rap culture that will never die, and at least there is still some hope for hip hop in that way. Good talent is just too hard to market without some bullshit behind it, or some big name in the video. There has to be something for suburbia to sink its teeth into, and unfortunately, that something sure as hell isn't talent. As for 105.3's house music past, I will never forget the afterhours show that MattM20 helped to put together with Dj Rob James every Saturday night. That show was, by far, the nastiest house music radio show on the Island.
