  1. yeah, Finnertys to Bar None to Nevada Smiths is the NYU triple threat. haha. I would drop by, but I'm gunna be away for the next coupla weekends. u should try LIT on Fridays past 1am. Cowboy Mark spins good toons for the indie crowd. Not for everyone tho.
  2. Davouk, don't mind the haters. The two main areas you will find that scene is the Lower East Side in Manhattan and Williamsburg in Brooklyn... check out "Time Out New York" or "L Magazine" or "Flyer" for listings while you're here. Some places off the top of my head. Lower East Side: Pianos Mercury Lounge Bowery Ballroom The Delancy Tonic Williamsburg: North Six Galapagos (there are much more here, but I can never remember any of the names) cheers man,
  3. 2nd Nature???? i live down the block...everytime i go by there its NYU hip hop night...
  4. most people don't know this, but Riker's Island is only for petty criminals who have sentences less than one year. Its not as badass as the rappers make it out to be. these guys if convicted are going to state prison 10 yrs min.
  5. a great comedy club is the comedy cellar on macdougal. its got excellent medium level comics, is cheap and is 18+. but its a far cry from anything related to ny nightlife. also, if your in that area, there is a place called Alibi that is right around the corner. I think it sucks on weekends, but its def. nearby.
  6. i read it in two places, and then asked people in that scene to confirm. The Bowery Presents now has exclusive booking for Webster Hall (taken away from Clearchannel). BowPres is def. going to use it as a band venue, but like i said, it hasn't been determined if they will open it up to club music past 11. i found this too..read toward the end. http://www.nypress.com/17/28/news&columns/SarahShanok.cfm
  7. no doubt, but when u live in the city, there are good parties during the week that alot of people on the board may not know about. most of those bigger venues u mentioned are weekend spots. also, webster hall from what i hear is no longer going to be club oriented. there is a new booking agent called "The Bowery Presents" that will be bringing in bands for there all weekend. after 11, they may open it up to club music, but im not positive. this starts mid aug i think with sonic youth is gunna be the opener.
  8. dude, if you're living in the city, don't rely on ppl from this board for nightlife. most CPers are from Jersey and outer boroughs, so they don't know much about the smaller, generally more frequent (and better) parties. i say that cuz im an ex-pat myself. otherwise go out and talk to bartenders and waitstaff, they always know whats up. here are some suggestions for this week. Sunday - Deep or Cielo Monday - Sullivan Room Tuesday - Filter14 Wed - Table 50 Thursday - Ming n FS free party Fri - Sat too many to list. if u need any more info pm me. dont bother me bout a fake, cuz i cant help out with that.
  9. figured i'd share this treat for those that get out early on fridays. http://ndm.si.edu/GARDEN/index.html
  10. how is sapphire compared to cielo on mondays? i been to both, but not on monday. i have to find a new spot once tronic closes...also, u been to joe's pub on mondays? sometimes they have edm events.
  11. whord! was that tim opening? i stayed till baez got on at like 2, but the first guy with the fro didn't sound like tim deluxes style. baez opened up with a HUGE trainwreck..not good at all!
  12. Anatomy on 6th street. They have an upstairs and a downstairs. Two different sound systems.
  13. I agree. I go to Tronic pretty often, and usually come home feeling blah about the dj's. Ben Simms however was great. Very technical. Track selection kept the crowd up and down instead of just banging away. Some funky beats and splash of vocals. Very very much what I look for in a dj set. A true music nerd's dj.
  14. anyone have a list for this? i missed the matthew dear party last nite...
  15. that place Ruby Falls on 29th opened up, but i doubt that's what she's talking about.
  16. i thought the low end specialists were being promoted for this night too...
  17. sorry to hear that brah! lookin forwards to yur east side parties! 1.
  18. what they don't tell u is these lofts are in bushwick.
  19. anyone else think her set was boring..i dunno..maybe just me.
  20. i dont like the new board at all. the colors are too conservative (for a club board), site functionality is off, and reading posts gives me agida. use a better skin please.
  21. my bday...i be there! r train past 10- is the worst.
