  1. DJ Jevic has a phat new CD out. It very hard and acidic. Check out the crew "Sympty" for info.
  2. damn you two. I tried getting those tickets off aol and it was virtually impossible for me. The server kept saying busy....how did you two get through?
  3. I am a little intrigued by this topic and have to add my $.02 when someone mentioned "manhattanite", does that describe one that was born and raised in manhattan OR one that has permanent residency there. For I think the majority of manhattan is ex-b&t that has either moved onto bigger and better things or trying to move closer to work Also, would a Chelsea Boy be on the same derogatory level as a Yuppie?
  4. I def. meant ricky corbo. I had just seen a Corbett post before I wrote this one and mixed and matched by accident. Anyways, I doubt that rent is higher at Exit or SF [$30 a head] than right in the middle of the city as is Limelight [$20 a head], but then again, I am not a real estate agent. I remember one or two summers ago when those clubs were $25 consistently. So lets do the math ::5 extra dollars per person times 4000 people appx at EXIT = an extra $20,000 per night. How could overhead have increased by $40,000 a weekend over the span of 2 years?
  5. Cove, check your pm's for my info
  6. this is starting to get a little ridiculous. I mean, what exactly are we paying for? $30 at exit for boris or draper $30 at SF to hear JP $25-30 at Webster Hall to hear Ricky Corbett None of these guys are international and don't incur those huge travel expenses like most intl big hitters. In DC you can pay $12-15 at Buzz [Nations] and listen to some top notch talent. Listen to the lineup for June 29th --Mauro Picotto, Dave Ralph, Alex Whalen, Jon Tab, and others for 12 bucks w/guestlist Are we getting the short end of the stick or what?
  7. I agree with "pglkm" in that you can't judge a DJ on just one night, but you CAN judge a dj after two nights. I will hopefully pick a random saturday in august to return back there and will treat it as an afterhours joint. But first I have to convince my girlfriend to wake up at 6 in the morning to go clubbing with me. HEHE!!
  8. what is different/better about his music at 8am than at 5am? Also, do you have to pay a $30 cover charge that late?
  9. well I just turned 21 about a month or so ago and decided what better to do than check out JP at Factory for the first time and finally hear what all the hub-ub is about. I figure since I've only been djin for about 4 years now I could pick up a pointer or too from the guy and expand upon my own style. Anyway I was severly disappointed at what I heard that night. Being a true music fan, I went there 100% sober to enjoy his toons. As for the technical side of me, for some reason, once you start djin, you become overly critical of another dj's mixing skills, but I tried being as objective as possible because who am i? I'm a nobody and he's well..JP! Anyway, I had heard from most people that Peters doenst really blast off until about 4am which was cool. At about 2am, he started playing what I thought was less than decent and what apparently everyone else agreed too, as whatever crowd he developed during the previous songs, disappeared right back into the shadows. I guess I could only classifiy that music as Samba House, or house with an ethnic feel. Well, after a bit of that, he went back to his normal 130 bpm pretty mellow house, and then out of the blue, he puts on an old Whitney Houston song. WHITNEY HOUSTON?!@#!@ Cmon, I can barely take her trax on KTU, mind at SF. Anyway, after some more, I look at my watch at its a little after 4. A dancer finally got on stage and I was like, OK, this is it. THis is what I've waited for! THe beat built and built and built some more for about 10 minutes, and then dropped! It was an all too familiar vocal song, that I can't even remember right now but I thougt it stunk. Now only was the song not spectaculor to say the least, be played it for like 35 minutes. In and out, in and out!! I listed as he went to different versions, switched to his dat, came back with cd and what not. You could actually hear the sound quality change as he went from different sound sources. More of the same 35-40 minutes songs were played after that up until i left I stayed to about 6:00. Not because I was tired or anything, but because I wanted to go and actually thought the night wasnt fun. Don't get me wrong, he played a few good tracks, but not consistent enough. All in all, with respect to his mixing style, I heard the music almost completely stop many times as would happen if the dj were to run out of wax on his record. He wrecked here and there, but nothing major. I like how he stabs in parts of other songs here and there but couldnt stand the marathon sets he played of one song. It was almost like some of the music was sooo mellow that you would absolutely flip out when a good hard song came on. Phew, that was a longass review. I just want to ask the board, was that an accurate description of what JP does every SAt night or was he on an off night? Maybe my description was off?? Maybe he doesnt get really good until after 6:00?
  10. OK, so some of us don't have promoter friends all over the city and still want to get into the clubs V.I.P. How do you do it? WHere does it work? How much? any personal stories.... I've only seen it done at EXIT. A couple people were waiting at the red rope. THe bouncer slapped the guys hand, opened the rope and slid the money into his pocket. It was so slick you had to be paying attention to even notice it.
  11. I'm pretty sure it is Age of Love - Age of Love. There are a ton of mixes, but I have the [Trance 2000] mix icq #18587555
  12. There is an unreleased track by Madd Myles that is driving me crazy, and I need to get my hands on it. It is a hard trance song with a repeating trance synth over and over but extremely quick [almost like a yomanda-on the level]. Sal Parm spun it at HunkaBunka Wed 20th. It was his third song. Give me a holler if you know anything about it. icq#18587555
  13. DJ X 2000 - Modem [DJ Scot Project Rmx] I'm not a fan, but this one is pretty good
  14. Wedge, Amazing website. It is exactly what I've been looking for. I recommend everyone check it out #18587555
  15. Warp Brothers vs Aquagen - Phatt Bass Songs sucks but it has the GOD vocal
  16. thanx...LOL...hey what's up with labelling totally off the wall song names on released CD's?? The same CD has a song labelled "big band" instead of "big bang" Maybe draper is illiterate....
  17. maybe Mikado - Feel the Bass [DJ Wag and Misar Mix] there is a male "feel the bass" vocal but no woman
  18. I got this song off Napster but dont know the artist name. I know its off a mixed CD perhaps DJed by Tony Draper. Its called Phaze 2 RMX. If anyone has the artist name or a full version please share. icq#18587555
  19. it is called Gary D & DJ Arne L - Rest in Peace (R.I.P.)
  20. Im gunna hafta disagree with everyone saying just let things happen naturally. If you want something, go and get it. He/She will not come to you. "your like this big bear, and you got these claws" ***Swingers
  21. Brooklyn has Club Legacy, Club Rio, and Club Enigma. They are all are very nice, but don't have the music or crowd of a city club. Staten Island has Cylo and Atlantis, but same goes for crowd and music.
