  1. My point of this thread wasn't that rolling on a special occasion beats a couple of Red Bulls. All I see on this board is how everyone rolls all the time...not just on special occasion. It just doesn't seem like most can ever club sober.
  2. I've been reading, and occasionally posting on this board for a month or two. I notice most of you do enjoy a pill or two, or twelve. It seems like most of you would rather take pills and go to Exit, SF, etc...than just go and enjoy the music for the music. I don't claim to be better than anyone or know what is best for anyone but I go to Twilo to hear my favorites DJs. I go sober. I just like getting into the music by itself. Twilo is complete sensory overload as it is, and with Red Bull and whatnot I can stay up until all hours no problem. Is it possible for you guys to club sober?
  3. Earlier in August at Twilo, two weeks after the death, some guy approached me upstairs. He was mid 30s wearing a tshirt and jeans. He looked most out of place. Than he asked me if I had or knew where to get any pills. But he used language that reminded me of my father when he tries to act cool and use slang. Nope buddy!
  4. The Cream (club in UK) message board got shut down and the club raided for direct drug talk. So do you really want to add fuel to the NYC fire and drop names?
  5. Digweed. Better consistency, programming more to my liking and he's just insane!
  6. Question. PVD spun this song twice in July @ Twilo, with one in his encore. It starts off with a melody that sounds straight out of a circus tent, like the can-can theme. What is this one?
  7. Worth a great look. Chris Fortier's old acetates (pre-release records) are on eBay. He spun at Twilo, two weeks ago. http://cgi6.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewListedItems&userid=barryrobb&sort=2&page=1&rows=25&since=-1
  8. They have a CD in the August issue of Muzik if anyone's interested. I have it but haven't listened yet. I'm sure it's class.
  9. Running has definitely helped my dance floor stamina. I also suggest eating a lot the day before and taking extra vitamins and water.
  10. Sasha's Ibiza disc 1 is one of my all time favorites. This compilation is a must have for all fans of progressive dance music (read: not Peters.)
  11. Phazon Inc. is the Twilo sound system company.
  12. Aaaah...Diego, you know that I'd go but I'm too far!
  13. Timo is the producer of the moment. Everyone says his DJ skills aren't "there" yet, but when they are watch out. The man is onto some crazy wonderful shit. Should be a solid night.
  14. My favorite kind is none at all.
  15. I don't see why a Miami gig the next night would cause him to finish earlier. It's not like he's flying to the UK or anything. In July he was amazing. He went till 930 with many many encores. What a great night.
  16. It was an amzing night. A progressive night like the US usually doesn't get. I can't wait for some more.
  17. I have heard a lot of rumors about the Twilo Nasdaq IPO (Initial Public Offering.) Some sound good some are ridiculous. If they do go public these IPO will raise a great deal of money. It would be used for things such as funding their new magazine, titled "Magazine" and record label. Also potentially even opening up more locations. We shall see.
  18. NoLimit, nice to meet you on Fri! What a night at Twilo. Man oh man.
  19. I want to hit up Ibiza eventually, I just don't think I'm enough of a caner to make it.
  20. Though you guys use the word "mainstream" with Twilo, I have to disagree. I think you'll have to wait a little while before the magazine takes off and you can say 'mainstream' all you want.
  21. --from sonicnet.com Twilo Launches Record Label, Monthly Magazine Resident DJ Junior Vasquez mixes first volume of CD series, due Sept. 26. Contributing Editor Corey Moss reports: New York super-club Twilo has tapped longtime Saturday-night resident DJ Junior Vasquez to mix the debut CD on its label, which will be distributed by Virgin Records. Twilo Volume 1: Junior Vasquez, a double mix-CD featuring tracks by Byron Stingily, Vernessa Mitchell and Dubtribe Sound System, is due Sept. 26 and will be available for purchase at the club. "Twilo will function as a full-on label and will release 12-inch singles as well as compilations." — Mike Bindra, Twilo's general manager "It's all very exciting for me," said Mike Bindra, Twilo's general manager. "This is going to do a lot for our image on a global level. We're the first club in the U.S. to have a major label get behind us." Vasquez has hosted his "Juniorverse" party on Saturday nights at Twilo for the past three years. (He was also the top attraction in the space's previous incarnation as Sound Factory.) On Fridays, Bindra has assembled an all-star lineup of residents unrivaled in the United States, including Sasha and John Digweed (who have DJed once a month for more than two years), Paul van Dyk, Carl Cox and Dave Seaman. UK duo Groove Armada recently began Wednesday residencies every other month in the club's more intimate upstairs lounge. "We're just a small fish in a big pond," Groove Armada's Tom Findlay said of Twilo. Vasquez has released a number of popular mixes, the most recent of which was 1998's Vol. 2: Come Together Right Now. Bindra said future releases in the Twilo series will be mixed by the club's resident DJs. Plans for a second volume are in the works, but he would not say who would be mixing it. "Twilo will function as a full-on label and will release 12-inch singles as well as compilations," Bindra said. "I love this music and I love being able to release it just as I love being able to promote it at Twilo." Several popular UK clubs, including London's Ministry of Sound and Sheffield's Gatecrasher, have launched successful record labels founded on the sounds and experiences at their venue. In other Twilo news, the club will be launching a free monthly magazine, simply titled Magazine, on Aug. 26. The publication will focus on dance music, fashion and urban culture and will be distributed at the club as well as around the country and in some international cities. "It'll have dance-music stuff in it, but it's geared toward the young-adult market in general," Twilo Creative Director Ryan Thomas said. "It's another one of those kind of Gen X magazines, but the difference is we have the inside scoop on dance music and it's a little more slick than normal dance-music magazines, where they just have a DJ on the cover. We're trying to keep it visually interesting."
  22. Twilo 2K Wednesday's are 21+. Friday's are 18+. Saturday's Juniorverse are 21+. But there is a new rule on Fridays, you are not allowed to attend unless you know what DJ(s) are spinning that evening.
  23. Tickets will be $30 plus a Ticketmaster surcharge, usually $4.
