  1. chloe is awsome. been a fan of her's since the beginning (thanks james). she's always in my top 5 up and coming dj's list and her b-sides show is to this day still my favorite radio show. i have like 99.5% of them as well as her warm art sets and a bunch of various other live sets & mixes. the girl can do no wrong. and she's a wicked person as well! it's good to see all of you so excited about her. i know it means ALOT to her to see you all so happy.
  2. i would DEF. pick mills over hawtin/magda simply because of the fact that he next to NEVER plays in the states and he's got more history behind him then just about any other dj (besides may, atkens & saunderson). remember to that he MAY not play a nornal techno set. he may play an extreamly rare 'wizard' set and if that's the case i wouldn't want to miss it!! i had the privilage of seeing him here in his home town of detroit play a 'wizard' set and it was one of the most amazing sets i've ever heard! i wouldn't want to take the chance of missing it if he did indeed play one at WMC.
  3. anyone in miami interested in booking a gig with john beltran & john arnold for a ubiquity records party in support of john beltrans new album for thursday march 4th? they are going to be in town that week and wanted to pick up a gig for the thursday night. fee is extreamly negotiable and they will already be in town so there is no flight to worry about. please let me know ASAP if anyone is interested. thanks!
  4. so i've noticed that she hasn't posted again since the first post. you people should be ashamed of yourselfs! you've all gone and scared her off already! well, if she IS reading this then welcome and good luck! you've entered the zoo for real!
  5. i thought chicago was awsome! it is no dirtier then any other major city. as a matter of fact i'd say it was prob. cleaner then alot of the major cities i've been too. DEF. cleaner then NYC and miami IMO. but like ALL cities, it has it's not so nice areas as well. there isn't a city out there that is 100% beautiful. chicago IMO has a very artsy, alternitive feel to it. especially in the areas where gramaphone, smartbar & wrigley field are. the downtown area is like a small NYC but with a more artsy feel to it. i fell in love with the place and am going to be moving there prob. the middle of this year hopefully if you're THAT worried about it maybe you should go for a weeks visit or something and check it out first before deciding to move there.

  8. so has ivano bought any new records in the last year or is he still playing the same crap he's been playing since WMC 2000?
  9. i'll believe it when the phone rings and i hear your voice on the other side!! if i had a pennie for ALL the times you've said you'd call i'd be a millionaire by now! hurry up and get your ass (are better yet your ear) on the phone! i have ALOT of sets that need ripping over here!!
  10. well we all know i don't have much of that so how about a little help smart ass!
  11. ok... i type in the URL to the stream i want to rip...http://04-14-02_clarkwarner_paxahau.ram i type in the max KB's to rip...167 i type in the destination/directory to save it to... and then i start ripping... but i get an "sr_cannot resolve host name" error message everytime! what am i doing wrong here and how do i fix it??
  12. this is EXACTLY why the music industry is shit and why the people (or should i say sheep) in the general public are so shallow and close minded musicaly. because they let others decide what they should and shouldn't listen to, what is popular and what is not and what is good/bad and what is not insted of experimenting and then making up their own minds. it's a very sad state of affairs!
  13. maze had ALOT of potential when it first openned. but the lack of direction, the unorganization, lack of respect and lack of general music industry knowledge by the owners is what fucked that place.
  14. billy was one hell of a shadey guy, thats for sure! i remember when i used to do promotions for him and liquid back before and up through conference of 2002. that was prob. the hardest promotions job i ever had. i worked my ass off and there was just NO effort put into that club by the ownership music wise. it was like i was totally waisting my time cause no matter how hard i tried to get people to go there the ownership just didn't want to care about it. they just had no clue and didn't give a fuck. if it wasn't for drew, kris & the other marketing girl (don't remember her name) that club wouldn't have lasted a week! the rest of the crew (drew, kris, dan, the other marketing girl) were ALL very cool people. we (james sheridan mostly) did the FIRST EVER US deeper substance party there at conference of 2002 with demi. i remember it being a MAJOR pain in the ass trying to get billy to pay me. he would promise one thing and then when it came time to pay up he would get this attitude like "you really want me to pay you? you thought i was serious about that?" i wanted to kill the fucker! i remember one week on pay day i came down to the beach to pick up my money but billy wasn't there...i asked where he was and had to go from liquid down to red back to liquid up to fort laudaerdale, 25 phone calls and messages and FINALLY back down to miami the next day before i FINALLY got paied. i think it took me a total of 2 days to finally track the bitch down and get him to give me my money. needless to say that was the last time i ever promoted for that asshole! SO glad he got what was coming to him! like was said above...karma's a bitch ain't it hehehehehe

    Dj Three..???

three WAS a resident at twilo...can't remember if it was a monthly or bi-monthly but i know for a fact he had a residency there.
  16. yes, it would be nice to have better music in the larger clubs. but it will never happen. not in the US anyway. in the US, the larger clubs are geared tords the mainstream and the masses. unfortunetly the mainstream & masses in the US are shallow & lazy and will take whatever is spoon fed to them via radio or rolling stone mag. or the like...and thus the larger clubs see a way to cash in on the mainstream with little cost to themselfs. they (the larger clubs) don't care about 'vibe' or 'talent' or 'music'. all they care about is $$...it's a sad state of affairs indeed. so us true music heads that are passionate about the music and are not mainstream, shallow or lazy will just have to continue to dig for the good vibes, the good talent and the good music. all it takes is a passion for the music, a little effort and a good heart and a good ear and the will power to not believe everything you're told and not let anyone else tell you what and what not to like/listen to. there is good stuff in both NYC and chicago on a regular basis. all you have to do is look beneath the surfice and find it...it's all there and it's all waiting for you to discover it.
  17. the criteria is the same, the events are the same, the master list is the same, the aim is the same, the target crowd is the same, the limited access to select parties is the same and the time peroid is the same... again...that just reads like it's the exact same thing. all that happened is WMC & david prince are collaborating on the actual business part of the conference and calling it the M3 summit.
  18. happy birthday reachel hope you had a good one

    Dj Three..???

i think to compare three to either sasha OR digweed is an insalt as IMO three is MUCH better then either of them! three doesn't even play the same style music that sasha & digweed play. three is WAY more techy, minimal, trippy, groovey, dubby and eclectic then sasha & digweed. if i was going up there i'd be going to see three. sasha would be an extra.
  20. are you guys sure the M3 summit is a seprate event from WMC? i was under the impression based on the discription in the mail out that it was just another name for the events that happen at the WMC hotel. i mean, they have the EXACT same things going on at M3 as they do at the WMC hotel ie...workshops, poolside showcases etc...david prince also changed the name of his master list from the 'WMC master list' to the 'M3 master list' for this year even though he is still going to list all the WMC events in it like he does ever year. david was sponsered by WMC the last couple years so maybe they (WMC) have just adopted davids M3 name for certin events under the WMC unbrella such as the hotel stuff and the master list. that's the impression i got anyway... i could be totally wrong in that though.
  21. i agree, 90% of the people at any given party in any given city are fucked up on some kinda drug or another BUT not all of us are. i have been in the scene for over 10 years now and have NEVER done a drug in my life! i don't even drink! for me it's soully about the music! it's a shame and quite sad that people feel they can only enjoy this music when they are fucked up. the funny thing is is that the above really only holds true for those that go to trance, hard house, progressive & some techno nights. if you go to a deep house night it is exactly the oposite...most of the people there are high...but they are not high on drugs, they are high on the music! and that's the way it should be! thats another huge reason why deep house partys have such amazing vibes! because they are vibes that come from the music and the heart and NOT from some drug.
  22. i HATE HATE HATE hard house and trance!! it's all shit IMO. i'm into the deep house, tech-house, various forms of techno & ambient/IDM stuff...those are my passions. chcago put house on the map! you have a wicked little house scene there (derrick carter, heather, gene farris, dj sneak, roy davis jr, mark grant etc...) as well as any number of big name guests that come through there on a regular basis. you have a good electro scene with felix da housecat leading the way and some wicked tech-house djs including tracy tobey AKA angelist & mazi AKA audio soul project! you even get quite a bit of the abstract hip hop/turntableists, IDM & techno dj's and live PA's that come through there ie...rob swift, D-styles, monolake, mr. projectile, jeff mills, richie hawtin, magda, kevin saunderson, derrick may etc...how can you say chicago has nothing?? you obviouly just don't know where to look for it...now granted, NYC gets ALOT of these same people. it's just that in NYC the clubs that they play at most of the time are bigger, with more people thus making the vibe less intimate which IMO makes it not as good. what you have to understand is dj's play to the size of the venue and the crowd it attracts. as a rule, bigger venues attract less knowledgeable crowds thus the djs have to play more excessable music that these less kownledgeable crowds can understand. people that go to these small hole in the wall venues to see dj like the ones mentioned above are the die hard music lovers. they understand the music and what the dj is trying to do thus giving the dj the freedom to play whatever the hell he/she wants to play. those kinda nights are the best! THOSE are the people that are ALWAYS up for it and that make the vibe a good one. NYC has less of that then chicago does IMO. chicago is VERY passionate about it's music, especially on a local level. more so then NYC is IMO. the only problem is that people like you don't seem to want to support it. all you see is the shit hard house & trance but never look deeper to find the good stuff AND there is PLENTY of good stuff in chicago!! a citys scene is based on it's local talent...without it's local talent it is VERY hard for any city to have a good national/international scene. but the local talent can only thrive if the people and music lovers of that city support them...why do you think all the big techno dj's stopped playing in detroit for so long and started playing else where...it was because the people of detroit didn't support them so they started playing places where they would get that support. i'm going to use tracy tobey as a perfect example...she is a local chicago dj, an amazing local chicago tech-house dj at that. she plays wicked tracks ALL night long and is SOOO passionate about the music. she sets an amazing vibe where ever she plays and is ALWAYS smiling and into it! she is one of the sweetest people i know and one of the sweetest, down to earth, real people in the scene. people like her are VERY few and far between, especially in our scene. she is one of the best up and coming tech-house djs in the US and could be one of the best up and comers in the world if she could just get a little more exposure. yet no one (or very few people) come out and support her when she plays. YOU complain about chicago not having anything good and only having hard house and trance but yet when an amazing dj like tracy plays you don't go. insted you sit around and complain about the lack of a scene when right down the street at smartbar (or where ever tracy happens to be playing) you have one of the best up and coming tech-house djs in the US if not the world playing! why is that?? the same thing goes for when derrick carter or any of the other big name locals play...you people just don't support them. carter is a legend! how can you NOT go support him when he plays? most of NYC's local talent is mainstream garbage like JP. don't get me wrong, NYC has a nice little underground scene as well with the 'giant step' parties and the 'turntables on the hudson' parties and the like...but over all i'd say chicago is ALOT more underground and has the potential to have ALOT better vibe simply because the local talent is better, the venues are smaller and overall the crowds are MUCH more knowledgeable thus making the vibes better and allowing the djs to play alot better musicly. SO STOP COMPLAINING AND MAKE SOME EFFORT. GO SUPPORT YOUR GOOD LOCAL TALENT like tracy & mazi & derrick carter! that is where your heart should be! it shouldn't be thinking about all the shit...it should be supporting the good and making it work!
  23. ok, i neither live in NYC or in chicago so i don't know a WHOLE lot about either of your scenes. but what i do know is this... have any of you ever heard the saying "quality over quantity"??? IMO the smaller cities with the more intmate atmospheres & smaller venues have the better scenes and the better music. i would MUCH rather hear dj's like angelist, Garth, Jeno, ron trent, mazi, craig richards, terry francis, three, miguel migs, lee burridge, H-foundation, richie hawtin, monolake, john aquaviva, JT donaldson, gene farris, Kenny Hawkes, derrick carter etc...in a small intimate room with an up for it, clued up crowd and a good vibe then going to a big club and seeing mediocre (big name) dj's at a big club with no atmosphere, people that could care less about the music and a shit vibe. now i've lived in miami and detroit so i know the diffrence between a big city vibe and a small city vibe and trust me, the small city vibe is WAY WAY better! the best clubs with the best music, best crowds and thus best vibes in miami were the small hole in the wall clubs like groovejet, rain, lola, jazid, blue etc...none of the big clubs anywhere could ever compare to the vibe and crowd that you found at groovejet! both NYC and chicago get good talent coming through their cities on a regular basis but having been to both cities, i think chicago has the better clubs, more knowledgable, more passionate crowds and thus better vibes. now every city big & small has it's share of cheese. but IMO chicago also has MUCH better local/resident djs then NYC does. you people in chicago need to learn how to respect & support or local talent cause it's some of the best in the country!
  24. just wondering how it was... where there alot of people there? how was tracy (angelist)? did she rock it as always?? i'm sure she did! she never disapoints! sucks that i live so far away! wish i could have been there to support her!
