  1. I believe a more accurate statement is the world hates Americans. Anti-America sentiment can be found anywhere on the globe. It is fairly reasonable, as everything is becoming American-ized. McDonald's, Coca-Cola, movies, etc. Countries need some sort of America backlash to protect their national identities. The French are very protective of their idea of a French nation (nation meaning identity of group.) Every year they have a committee which meets to decide what words will be put into the dictionary. They are very strict and hate the idea of English seeping into their vocabulary. (BTW that quote [italy/France] was from the Simpsons) ------------------ Mushrooms... how to see god, be god, and make god obsolete while listening to Pink Floyd
  2. Ontario High Court Calls Canadian Marijuana Law Unconstitutional, Gives Parliament A Year To Change Law Or Marijuana Will Be Legal Toronto, Ontario: The Ontario Court of Appeals this Monday called Canada's prohibition of marijuana "unconstitutional" and said if Parliament does not amend the law to allow for medical use within a year, marijuana possession for all Ontario residents will be legal. The appeals court ruled that Canadian law fails to recognize that marijuana can be used as a medicine for patients with chronic illnesses. The case involves Terrence Parker, a patient who suffers from debilitating epileptic seizures, and was charged with marijuana possession under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. Under the act, it is illegal to possess or cultivate marijuana unless patients are granted exemptions by Canada's health minister. The appeals court suggested Parliament write into the law a nationwide medical marijuana exception. Judge Marc Rosenberg, J.A., in the decision wrote, "I have concluded that the trial judge was right in finding that Parker needs marijuana to control the symptoms of his epilepsy. I have also concluded that the prohibition on the cultivation and possession of marijuana is unconstitutional...I have concluded that forcing Parker to choose between his health and imprisonment violates his right to liberty and security of the person. I have also found that these violations of Parker's rights do not accord with the principles of fundamental justice." Rosenberg ruled that Parker, for his medical use, will be exempt from Canada's marijuana laws while Parliament attempts to rewrite the laws. "This decision will open doors across the country for sick Canadians who need cannabis to help alleviate symptoms such as nausea and vomiting," said Parker's lawyer Aaron Harnett. For more information, please contact Keith Stroup, NORML Executive Director at (202) 483-5500. 3. Printed in the Star Ledger 8/23 - Speaking Up column WAR AGAINST THE EVIL OF DRUGS MUST CONTINUE by Matthew Hopkins Many people are saying we should end the "failed drug war." The logic goes something like this: There has been a war on drugs, but drugs are still around, so obviously the war has failed. Besides, drug use is a victimless crime, and drug users need rehabilitation, not jail time. There are many problems with these arguments. First, the idea that the continued existence of drug abuse means that the drug war must have failed is poor reasoning. There is no telling what the rate of abuse would be if law enforcement weren't fighting the drug trade. Also, the logic of "failed war" argument could be extended to say the continued existence of cancer means the fight against that disease has failed and should be abandoned. Next, drug use is not a victimless crime. In addition to all the victimes of crimes committed by people under the influence of drugs, the user himself is a victim. I have no problem with people arrested for drug use being sent to rehab programs. But I do not believe that drug arrests should be excluded from criminal records or that drug use should be viewed as a personal mistake and not a crime. My main reason for opposing calls to end the drug war is simple: Drugs are evil. I know that today it is not fashionable to talk about such an absolute moral term as evil. And it is seen to be especially foolish to apply that to term to inanimate chemicals. However, I stand by my belief that drugs are evil. Drug addicts lie, cheat and steal to support their habits. Drug use destroys friendships and rips apart families. People under the influence of drugs do thing they never would under normal circumstances. Dealers know what they are selling is poison, but they continue to sell because of greed and lust for power. Drug addiction takes over a person's life and controls his actions just as much as any demon from myth. If these are not elements of evil, then nothing is. The fight against drugs is not easy, but it is a just cause. There will always be drug use, but that does not mean we are defeated. We may never be able to claim final victory in the war, but that does not mean we should surrender. --Matthew Hopkins of Cedar Grove is a graduate of Thomas Edison State College with a degree in psychology. We need to write back to disprove all this bullshit propaganda this moron is spitting out. ------------------ Mushrooms... how to see god, be god, and make god obsolete while listening to Pink Floyd
  4. Screw it, I'll type it in for y'all. This stuff really really makes me angry... Our current President of the United States smoked pot. Our Vice-President admitted he did too (and his best friend from the '70s said he was a pothead.) The other presidential candidate was a cokehead who probably did numerous other drugs. Screw it, I'm not gonna bother going further. ------------------ Mushrooms... how to see god, be god, and make god obsolete while listening to Pink Floyd
  5. This is just another reason why the War on Drugs must end. How many other privacies must be violated before someone speaks out? This kinda shit really pisses me off. "Your cell phones may be tapped because many drug deals take place over them." C'mon people! They're taking our rights away slowly just so that we can't choose what we put in our bodies. And if you get the Star Ledger, read the Op-Ed piece from today. It is some dude defending the great War. ------------------ Mushrooms... how to see god, be god, and make god obsolete while listening to Pink Floyd

  9. Two weeks ago, my tonsils swoll up, had a fever, and was tired as shit. They tested me for mono, negative. Put me on anti-biotics, which killed the symptoms. Yesterday, the swelling came back 110%. Doctor said my throat was nearly closed. They're running another mono test, strep was negative. Doctor said it is probably tonsilitis. Should probably tell them I roll, but nah ------------------ Mushrooms... how to see god, be god, and make god obsolete while listening to Pink Floyd

  17. If you really want to try shrooms, but they keep making your stomach upset, try this: Purchase a cheap coffee grinder for like $15. Pick up some gel capsules from GNC (not sure if they come empty or if you'l have to empty'em yourself.) Grind your mushrooms in the coffee grinder and place the grounds in the pill capsules. Pop a few and enjoy. Peace. ------------------ Mushrooms... how to see god, be god, and make god obsolete while listening to Pink Floyd
  18. If you really want to expand your mind, mushrooms. Ecstacy is fun and all, but it is a "hollow" drug IMO. Yes, I've done the whole apathy thing and talked my heart out. I've loved every single person who walked into a club ('cept the juiceheads.) But, come the next morning, most of the effects and epiphanies are gone. Mushrooms changed my way of thinking and acting. They made me a much more passive person, as I did them with a whole bunch of drunk people present. They taught me to let go of grudges and that being angry and belligerent is not the best way to go through life. Another trip taught me to accept my friends for what they are, and appreciate them while they're here. Peace. ------------------ Mushrooms... how to see god, be god, and make god obsolete while listening to Pink Floyd

  21. Hey, I'm in a frat and at Lehigh I can't wait till my first round of freshman girls this September. Since I will be returning to PA very shortly, is the club scene any good in Philly? Are there any good house/trance clubs, or is it just really weak. I plan on driving back to NYC once every two months or so, but it gets expensive and is a hassle. ------------------ Mushrooms... how to see god, be god, and make god obsolete while listening to Pink Floyd

  24. Since I left school this summer, I have been refraining from drinking. My friends, on the other hand, have not. Watching the effects of alcohol, compared to the effects of other drugs, made me realize how truly dangerous it is. When a person is drunk, they look like they are next to death. They can't keep their eyes open, skin is clammy, and coordination? hell no. I go back to school in a matter of weeks, and have been trying to psyche myself up to the return of professional alcoholism. (being drunk 4-5 nights a week qualifies as alcoholism right? eh, it's mass alcoholism though, so it's ok ) It has been difficult though. Eh, I'm sure it'll all return with that first cold can of delicious, refreshing Milwaukee's Best. ------------------ Mushrooms... how to see god, be god, and make god obsolete while listening to Pink Floyd
  25. Yes, I definitely get that feeling that security is watching me. Particularly when I've already dropped while waiting on line and the pills are kicking in. At Twilo it's the worst because security stares at your ID, then you, then the ID, etc. I nearly bug out everytime. Whenever I go with a group of friends, they always seem to be the type who just want to sit and chill. So I wander away and dance my head off for like an hour or two. When I go back, I can't find anyone. This is when I really get edgy. My heart starts to race and I feel very isolated. I walk around the club like 15 times and still can't find them. I always feel like I'm about to die when that happens. Anyone else ever find this happening to them? ------------------ Mushrooms... how to see god, be god, and make god obsolete while listening to Pink Floyd
