  1. You seem to think you know a lot about me, what I do, what I've done, when you really don't know me at all, all you know is what you've heard through some rumor mill. I do what I do, I'm still doing it, and can give a shit whether you like me or what I do or not, as I said, you all have a right to your opinions, but you're opinion is worthless, what you say or think, has no effect on how or where I work. There are plenty of places for me to go out to, or work in this world without dealing with the trivial drama of people like you. Have a fun summer.
  2. actually I usually don't read or post just because of assholes like cosmicgate and hype, critics do have a right to do what the do, I just could care less what you think, for every critic there is a fan. And as for what I've been doing or where I've been playing, just because I'm not in one of the 5 or 10 clubs you frequent, doesn't mean I'm still not working and enjoying myself. This is my last post regarding the critics I knew I shouldn't have answered because the best thing to do is leave them be, but I had some time on my hands and couldn't resist. Whats really funny is critics will go listen to a dj or go to a club that they consistently bash, thats whats really hilarious, and if you weren't there and you were bashing it, thats really hilarious and shows a lot of stupidity cause if you weren't there you definitely have nothing to criticize, so either way, pretty much you are an asshole.
  3. hit the nail on the head, all the critics suck, we all give two shits about you, we all still get work, and always will, so until you step into our shoes and into a booth and put some headphones on, we could give a fuck what you think or hear. Ever think you may be the one thats drunk or tripping and the dj is on but you are totally wacked out of it and hearing shit.... things that make you go hmmm.. unlikely but it could happen.

    Headphones?

Makes a really nice pair of headphones.
  5. Its a nice mix, not burning my ears up but put together well, compliments the vocal nice. I think my tastes have just changed since 2001, I like more of the soulful house, Subliminal type vibe, and some tribal, getting away from the trans, progressive type vocal stuff. The mix is named correctly, has a total Temptations vibe, I can see it playing with the Temps crowd, with Denny giving it his live treatment, and Pete Maffei killing the lights. If you mentally put yourself there, then the mix makes alot of sense, definitely a big room mix. When you already have your groove on, either before peak hour or after peak hour. I don't think its a peak record. Keep your ears out for another female vocal this summer by Juliet-Sex On The Beach, I just heard of ruff cut of the Eddie "Love" Arroyo mix for Columbia Records, This record should do well in the clubs in the NYC metro area, and get radio play, but again, I don't think its a summer anthem yet. I miss the summers of the late 90's and 2000, when it seemed like we had 4 or 5 hot new records every week. Hopefully summer picks up. There's my Four Cents. Peace.
  6. I don't know if the ASCAP/BMI issue is covered in this instance, it will be interesting to see what happens. It should be covered though. As long as he is purchasing the music he uses to fill the ipod's, fine(I have no problem with it either). But somewhere a long the line I'm sure there is a base not covered. I know for a while DJ services with multiple dj's and only one record collection (all the others using copies of music) were being cracked down on by the RIAA. This seems to fall into the same category. I'm sure the RIAA and music industry would consider and ipod to be used for an individual and not for this purpose. The music industy and RIAA would prefer to see a massive multi-cd player, stocked with original cds and pre-programmed with a playlist for each venue, using the original recorded cds, not copied music. It will be interesting to see where this goes. The whole problem with the dital recording nightmare for the recording industry started when they chose to teach people Binary code instead of keeping that pandora's box-closed.
  7. since 1993 at the Factory, before it became twilo, after the first night hearing him, I was hooked, always will be- IMO he did a great job with the torch he was passed from Larry Levan.
  8. if the cds are higher khz, but they are supposed to be improved in some way, I'm not into cds, so I have to read up on it. I agree on the finding vinyl, That used to separate jocks, now a hard working jock finding vinyl has to deal with the kid down the block downloading it. But jocks that hunt for vinyl still come up with stuff not available on line.
  9. Psycho Bitch and Teri Brisol in Chicago, Jackie Christie, DJNA, Sandra Collins these girls rock
  10. here is a test: take a record, new or in really good condition, put it on one channel with a good stylus, then take a version of the same record on cd, play them at the same level, with no eq at all (flat) and tell me which one you would rather here. I do it to people all the time, without them knowing which one is which, and they always pick the vinyl. Its like this, digital is great for the different ways you can minipulate it differently than vinyl, and we all know its easier to transport cds. But Music and sound waves are naturally ANALOG(turntable) and the grooves on the record reflect this more closely, Digital(CD) is a sequence of ones and zeros, and will NEVER match vinyl on the warmth issue. Now they are coming out with those super cds or whatever, just another way to make $, they knew when they set the sampling rate at 44100khz for cds when they first did it, that it was substandard, but do sample at higher rates was too expensive, now the cost comes down and they expect you to replace cds with super cds, give me a break. And how clear does it have to be? if it doesn't crack pop and skip, its good enough for me. I mean you really can't hear imperfections in your car, house or club, unless they are major. only in a headphone or studio do you have that kind of listening environment. NUFF Said. Here is an interesting tidbit from a non dj, I saw an interview on Letterman I think with Matt Dillon, and he also talked about how he has records and turntable shipped when he is shooting movies, "because of the true sound and the warmth" Vinyl-Tough, Tested, Trusted. Save The Vinyl
  11. the Male DJs that is: How do you feel about the women djs, do you feel they may have an unfair advantage because they look good in the booth and on the decks? I know I like to watch some of them, while a few have been around a long time and have talent and have paid their dues, but it seems like more and more ex-models, actresses, dancers, whatever are getting into the act, thats right guys, the women are invading your turf. This should be an interesting thread. What are your feelings guys?
  12. without the dj's knowledge, I read this on a website. I guess its coming to DJs using software and computers, myself I could never even trust cds not to skip, at least now they have the buffers on cd deck, Vinyl is trustworthy. I don't think I could ever trust a computer. anyway, here it is: LOL, I found it amusing.) What type of music do you spin? Well, let\'s get one thing straight. I don\'t actually spin on turntables, but I do live mixing on my computer using a program that involves using the same beat-matching skills required on tables. So, I suppose you can call me a \"MP3/Digital DJ\" for now until I actually afford my own tables. But anyway, back to the question... I mix a lot of Florida style breaks and trance (hard and uplifting). But lately I\'ve become strongly interested in funky house and some of the dancey stuff. We\'ll see if I get into that...(Hehe). What do you think, I think first of all the computer doesn't require the same skills as turntables or cds, being able to cut, paste and look at a wave display, go back and re-edit until its right, it all better be perfect. With Cds and turntables you have one shot, you can't go back and correct it. Its an art form, not to mention the showmanship of turntables, I like to see a jock working tables, I can't imagine seeing a jock working a laptop, you might mistake him for the light guy, LOL.
  13. probably not good to combine with drinking first of all, second 4 is way too many, most of all of the ephedrine related deaths are from people taking more than recommended amounts. Third, you were probably running your body into the ground all weekend, lowering your immunity, not to mention the shitty weather, smoke filled club that was probably with a few sick patrons as well, trying to tough it out for the sake of partying. I don't think you can blame your infection on ephedrine.
  14. or an insult. However, I prefer vinyl myself. But due to the limitations of vinyl I guess its perfectly fine to use cds especially if you are looping etc. or if the track is unreleased and only available via cd. Also carrying a lot of vinyl can be a drag. That said, I think it is a sin for jocks to have a library consistly mostly of cds they burned by downloading music for free, or copying from another person's library. You should BUY music and support the industry you are in. Sound quality of downloads vary as well so check your music that is burned. I do convert a lot of my vinyl to CD for carrying purposes but I do it with a digital connection from the Denon digital table. Finally, just my preference again, but I still believe a hot new piece of vinyl sounds a lot warmer than cd. PEACE
  15. take out of the hip/hop R&B crate. Its a crowd pleaser. same as Scenario, Murder She Wrote, Twice My Age, This or That(Blacksheep) etc. They were all slamming records, still move the crowd as classics thats why they get dropped. If the crowd didn't respond the dj would retire the record. Thats my answer. I guess if you want the answer from the particular jock, you would have to ask him next time you hear it when you are out.
  16. Club Systems magazine just reviewed hot lounges in NYC like 2 issues ago, I remember them saying Dorsia and Lot 61 were hot, there are a thousand lounges in NYC.
  17. some of the Jesse Garcia shit is hot, especially Tribal Spain.
  18. at B.E.D. On wednesday? anyone know?
  19. were still the slow(dead) nights of the week, but figured I would try to see if anything was happening. Hopefully they will stay until thurs or friday.
  20. Thanks Eddy, if my friends are staying in town Friday I will send them your way.
  21. anything happening tues or wed night this week in SOBE, what are the best parties to hit on these nights? Preferably House Music.
  22. Mixer for sale, cheap, Its from one of my old mobile setups, barely used, has an eq, but no in-channel tone controls. PM me if you want to check it out.
  23. Teen night is for teens last time I checked, I may be wrong but the ages are supposed to be all under 18 at these events. Either way, this shit shouldn't have been going on at the club. and regardless of how old they look or act, if they are under 18, even if they consent, according to the law you are the one who gets screwed. Working at a teen event is not an opportunity to pick up or have sexual relations with the girls there. And last but not least he had a girlfriend, doesn't say much for him and his morals.
  24. Relight My Fire is better than the mix in my opinion. Anthem I don't think it will be, KTU will kill it once they start with it.
  25. I haven't really checked out the Final Scratch yet, Being a vinyl junkie I'm still not even a fan of cds, Nothing like having the vinyl for easying cuing, organization etc. CDs are nice to bring a library of music that you only access from time to time(also good for looping and other effects only available on cd). But I'd have to agree, if you can't lug your vinyl, hit the gym or retire. The average flight case full of vinyl weighs between 47-50 lbs. With part of a library on cds and 2 or 3 cases of vinyl, you should be able to do any set. I just don't see myself djing with a computer.
