  1. The Sunday tour, Nikki Beach then Opium, I've been going to Sobe since 88 and lived there for 7 months, And everytime I go I make sure I return Monday or Tuesday just to catch Nikki Sundays. I once had a friend come down and his flight was around 8 on Sunday night, he changed it real quick once we got to Nikki Beach! If you are from NJ just think of Surf Club on Steriods, with a much nicer crowd and don't forget Pearl upstairs at Nikki, go early sit down for food, around 4 or 5 pm, food is good, then watch as the madness builds!! Then hit Opium around 11 or 12. If you have to fly out on Sunday you better change your flight now- you'll hate yourself for missing these parties. http://www.nikkibeach.com/
  2. My Virgin Deko review Walk inside a little after 10:15 to a small crowd a quite a few hotties struttin their stuff in skimpy outfits. Place is absolutely gorgeous. Dont know who the opening DJ was but he did a good job with early night music. His name was Anthony Vasquez, and it was his club debut. He has been at it for about a year, but has a great ear for music and the drive to be good at the dj thing, look for more from him in the future.

    DJ Nelson Diaz

No way, I go way back with Nelson from his NYC days at Stingrays, he was in my record pool. I heard he was in Miami, but retired? I'd have to hear it from the horse's mouth to believe it. Great Jock, Greater Person.
  4. Live it the way you want as long as you want who cares. If going to the club every weekend and getting banged up and listening to pounding house music makes you happy, do it! It's a free country, last time I checked there was a minimum age to enter, but no maximum age for clubs. Athletes are all doing something most of us only did as teenagers or early 20's at best. If you can do and enjoy it go for it. 30 somethings going out to a club is ok in my book, what about 30 somethings playing in softball and flag football leauges on the weekends and acting like boys! Hey if it makes them happy good for them, what should they do, take up golf because they aren't in their 20's anymore! There are alot of senior citizens doing things that most people would think they are too old for too, LIVE LIFE TO THE FULLEST- You only get one! Just my 2 cents! A few more cents- What if Danny Tenaglia thought he was too old to DJ ten years ago and retired-we'd be missing a lot of good tracks. What if Johnny Cash said he was too old to do a music Video- He just won a MoonMan from MTV he's in his 70's. Do you think Springsteen, The Stones, & Aerosmith are too old to tour-Hell No! Keith Richards isn't gonna give up his guitar because he got his first Social Security Check! Cher-Another one living like she is 20 years younger than she is. Should Stallone and Swarzenegger stop making movies because they are old. Clint Eastwood didn't! And what about Driving Miss Daisy, Jessica Tandy finally won an Oscar, if she thought she was too old to act she would have never got it. And a final note, I don't think Joe Pesci even thought about acting until his 30s. He was always in entertainment though, he used to play in a band right here in NJ.
  5. Definitely one of the shittiest summers of all time weather wise. It was like 45 days of rain, 25 days of Heat & Humidity, and a Blackout that crippled the entire region We got one perfect weekend, and you can count the Really Nice days on one hand. I think Fall will be good though, September/Oct in NYC, my favorite weather, favorite time of the year.
  6. Once a day, add it to your favorites or make it a homepage, these people have heart. Hi, all you animal lovers. This seems pretty simple. Please tell ten friends to tell ten today! The Animal Rescue Site is having trouble getting enough people to click on it daily to meet their quota of getting free food donated every day to abused and neglected animals. It takes less than a minute to go to their site and click on "feed an animal in need" for free. This doesn't cost you a thing. Their corporate sponsors/advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate food to abandoned/neglected animals in exchange for advertising. Here's the web site! Pass it along to people you know. http://www.theanimalrescuesite.com
  7. are they broke, it takes a while to open a super club, and they aren't going to rush it and fuck it up. I have a good friend or two that work at Crobar in Miami
  8. Everyone dials in by IP address to the person hosting the meeting. And as a bonus, if the host wants, the other attendees can view a screen shot of his PC. We use it at work, takes up alot of bandwith, but works great>
  9. Like I said, round windows. No Longer a hotel, but this is near the Colony.
  10. Clean ocean water and air. Beautiful women from all over the world (some of them topless), Great weather, nice people(I guess its the weather), a relaxed pace of life(compared to NYC), Beaches you don't have to pay to get on and can drink a six pack on, Palm Trees, Moonlit nights(the full moon in Miami is sick!), Clubs that are open until 5am, and 24 liquor downtown, The food (except the pizza-that still needs help), and lack of Police breaking your balls, and government passing laws every week to take away another civil right or freedom. Can't wait to return to Miami for good, Fall 2004. Peace.
  11. bastardized the club business is becoming, with so many people jumping at positions to work in clubs for the Glam side of it, owners know they can get away with low or no salaries.
  12. but I think it was the Colony or the one next to it. If you watch the movie, and look at the hotel windows, they are round. I remember walking by it in SOBE, somewhere near the COLONY HOTEL.
  13. with the guidos/guidettes and fake titties(all titties are good, never met a tittie on a girl that I didn't like, big small, inbetween, real or fake, they are all good- the best is when you are with a girl with fake ones and tell her you've never been with a girl with fake ones and she is like "do you want to see them"(What a dumb question to ask a guy!)), I could do without the juiceheads, but hey, each to their own, as long as they don't have any roid rages or get into fights I guess they are ok, The fake people are the worst, but hey you have to expect that shit.
  14. go ahead, just don't go crazy and do it for yourself no one else.
  15. defines temps, and now its a whole weekend. Those who don't understand temps or get it, should check it out, The energy and music on these nights is great, and denny really works on the sets and it shows. My picks are anything from summers of 98 or 99, even 97, I love the way You See The Trouble With Me sounds on the system, Turn to you, denny rips it up, and I wouldn't mind hearing some Kristine W, especially her early ones Feel What You Want and Land Of The Living. Any of the Whitney, Deborah or Toni Braxton. Follow Me, Insomnia were killing in 97. Enjoy the weekend, I hope I make one night.
  16. Where in Manhattan are the best afterwork parties Wed night through Friday night, what does everyone do?
  17. Billy did know how to run a place, condolences to his family. He started something in this area when there wasn't much going on. If I can remember correctly it was the first Sports bar in the area of that caliber, and put sports bars on the map in this area. He constantly made adjustments and improvements to the place each year. I can remember sick times there going back to the late 80's. I particularly remember when SKI did thursdays there. That was a really sick party. Just goes to show you have to live life to the fullest, you never know when your number is gonna be up. Peace
  18. another message board tuff guy and asshole, Everytime I spun at Abyss, I got paid. nuff said. I haven't even been out marketing myself like I used to and had to in order to get the work I got in my career, yes DJ's no matter what you spin or how good or bad you are, getting work is a matter of knocking on doors, making phone calls and networking with the people who make the hiring decisions. When I find the time and motivation to market myself again, I will have work, by the way, I won't be looking to work in NJ anymore, not because NJ is bad, I love NJ. I'm just looking for a change of scenery. Critics all suck, I don't care if you love me or hate me, you are the same people that criticize someone like Louie Devito for putting out CDs and getting paid- just doing some hard work and smart marketing. Whether you like the cds or not, I'm sure he doesn't care. In fact we should take a poll, I bet 90% of the djs don't care who likes them or doesn't, they only care about working and getting new music. The rest is icing on the cake.
  19. and funny, which is what I thought the board was about in the first place.
  20. I have djed at least once a month all year, and I'm playing again July 12th don't worry about where. True I'm not playing as much as I used to, look at it this way, I'm out of your NJ club scene and haven't played on the shore since summer 2001 and I don't plan on it, makes room for the new guys. As for calling around asking for work, I doubt that- I know I talked to two people briefly about work. What I have going on is my business, I'm still doing it because when I'm in the right situation, I enjoy it. The funniest thing is not having spun in NJ in almost 2 years my name still comes up, good or bad, and you guys still take time out of your day to criticize me, I think its hilarious. I haven't even stepped into a NJ club all year, except for one Tuesday when I stopped at RBAR.
  21. so it doesn't really matter, I'm busy doing other things, perfectly happy with the time I spent djing and if I quit tomorrow I would be fine with it. And if I did corner you and told you what happened in Miami, why would you doubt it?, especially without any contradicting info? I'm generally an honest person. As for defending myself, it's something I don't have to do, but when I have a little time on my hands I don't mind addressing people. I'd say this thread is about over.
