  1. Not sure what 18 nights is but Friday's are heaven for me. I think you can play just about any 'decent' choon in that place and make it sound completely fuckin' amazing. Last weekend, I remember hearing Underworld's "Cowgirl" and thinking to myself, this song was made for Twilo. As for the genre (getting back to your question I suppose) it's mainly progressive house/trance on Friday nights. Deep, hard, mysterious trance that makes you go nuts on the dancefloor...
  2. I think mine would definitely have to be seeing some dood so fucked up at Carl Cox's 3 Year anniverary @ Twilo that around 7AM or so, he simply stripped all of his clothes off and stood in front of the DJ booth incessantly. Dunno what he was on...
  3. Go to: http://www.electrophobic.com/ClubADubDub/index.html Sandra is spinning in Vegas, Chicago and DC in the upcoming weeks. I'll be at Buzz September 8 to see her spin in DC. As for NYC, I wouldn't be surprised to see her spinning @ Limelight when Gatecrasher (supposedly) comes there. As for the Sept 8 date in DC, that's Gatecrasher @ Buzz.
  4. Gatecrasher and Sandra Collins September 8. I'm there.

    sat parties?

Glow @ Zei is your best bet. Of course, I've never been to 2K9, so I wouldn't know. Here's the URL for Sept 2 @ Glow: http://www.clubglow.com/eve/september2.htm On September 3, Roc Raida will be at 2k9. Here's the only URL I have: http://www.electrophobic.com/ClubADubDub/index.html -Ricardo
  6. Taken from: http://www.electrophobic.com/Journalistic/000829.html ------------------------------------- I am not positive how to commence this journal. Sometimes occurences in life are so damn amazing that words will only belittle the actual experience. And since the last three or four SND nights have been simply brilliant, it's quite arduous to describe yet another outstanding SND night. But, let's attempt it. My lads [Alison, Krish, Cat, Kabal, Bill, Sergei, Nakul, Pete, Faiza, Joe, and Michelle] and I arrived at Twilo around 1AM. The line was, to our delight, quite short. Thus, we were promptly inside and on the dancefloor around quarter of 2. The only complaint I have from last Friday is that even though Twilo was not as crowded as other SND nights, the crowd still has yet to realize what the purpose is of the main dancefloor. What else would it be for than dancing? Go figure. But, to my dismay, folks still insist on perambulating incessantly through the main floor disrupting those that are simply try to bounce. I find it just a bit riling. Regardless, this did not stop the fun. Jimmy Van M was finally back at Twilo opening for Sasha and Digweed and he had the crowd moving. Soon thereafter, I noticed Digweed enter the booth and shortly after 2, he took the helm. Digweed grooved rolling progressive house from the start. The night had begun and before I knew it, Sasha was spinning Luzon's "The Baguio Track" to open his set. The two rotated sets from that point forward and as usual, around 5 or 6AM, I was rolling my ass off as the music was becoming harder and harder and more and more confusing. The lights, the gaseous nitrogen, the invasive trance; everything was brilliant. To top it off, I had all of my friends [including Rick, Tracy, Keith, Brian and Jess who joined us later and tons that I met that night] with me bouncing their asses off. There was a point when Digweed grooved Saints and Sinner's "Pushing Too Hard" and all of us were ecstatic. None of us were dancing with both feet on the ground. Nope. We were bouncing! Finally, for the hour prior to closing (around 10:15AM), Sasha, in similar fashion to last month, had the crowd bumping and leaping for more. No one ever wants to leave Twilo but like always, the night must come to an end and it did. Anyone that was there until the last record will tell you it was way fun. May the Sasha and Digweed nights at Twilo never end!
  7. I was there July 14 to hear Carl Cox and Mark Lewis finish. I tell you, I've never heard progressive trance that fucking good. I can't wait to hear him again. Great stuff. Here's my review @ electrophobic.com: http://www.electrophobic.com/Journalistic/000802.html -Ricardo
  8. Exactly. I've got a ton of sets in my collection and I consider it the best one I have. It's an instant party...especially disc one. Anyone that's been to SND in the past 4 months knows that they've played a ton of tracks off of 'Communicate' at Twilo, including: Luzon's "The Baguio Track" Trisco's "Muzak" Trancesetter's "Roaches" Killahurtz' "West On 27TH" Sven Vath's "Barbarella" Saints and Sinner's "Pushing Too Hard" POB's "Waah!"
  9. They are definitely worth taking. For one, I find myself sleeping much better during the week and then, well, I don't roll when I take 5 HTP...I fuckin' tumble!
  10. One can only think of Twilo. That's it...
  11. Ok, to those that are loyal to each and every SND night. This Friday baby! So, of the tracks that Sasha and Digweed groove, which ones make you get off your ass the fastest? For me, it's got to be Saints and Sinner's 'Pushing Too Hard' and Trisco's 'Muzak'. I was peakin' hard on July 28 when both of these songs were played and I simply leaped to the center of the dancefloor! Anyone else?
  12. In high school, we created a word called 'janky' to describe anything that was simply, well, janky. I know that's a recursive definition, but you really have to see janky to know what it is. For instance, someone dressed really sleezy but in a odd way...that's janky. Anyway, the term stuck and I used it for everything...
  13. Paul Van Dyk will also be at Space in Miami September 9... http://www.electrophobic.com/Happenings/000821.html
  14. I'd highly doubt that many on this board would know the answer to your question. But, I'd suggest washingtonpost.com or any other DC related site. But, washingtonpost.com would prolly be your best bet...
  15. Dave Ralph and George Acosta will both be spinning in DC on Friday night. Which one will you choose? http://www.electrophobic.com/Happenings/000822.html
  16. My bad. The foam party at Buzz (Nation) is THIS Friday, August 25. Too bad, I'll be at Twilo enjoying some bad ass SND ackshun! Of course, if you are in DC, it'll be a good night...Dave Ralph is spinning too.
  17. Last night was amazing. Really, that's all you need to know. But, I'll elucidate a bit. Since Ultra Records and Scott Henry were promoting the release of his new CD "Buzz: The Sound Of The Nation's Capital", we knew it was to be a big night and we didn't take our chances arriving late. Thus, around midnight or so, we left for Buzz. Upon arrival at Buzz, my lads [Krish, Pete, Jenny, and Eric] and I immediately noticed the decor was brilliant. The entire place had been downed with vibriant colored ornaments hanging from the rafters. It was aesthetic. Buzz has touted August element month. Each Friday of August carried a different theme with last night being Earth. Thus, the promoters brought in RKM Visual Performance to "provide an entire installation of visual stimulation". On the decks in the main room was Barry Weaver [Funky Techno Tribe/San Diego], a DJ I had not heard of prior to last night. Wow, he was fucking good. I immediately decided to hit the dancefloor and with pure energy we danced our asses off until we came up. Around 2, Scott Henry approached the booth and the crowd was roaring intensely. At last, he took the helm and judging by the first two tracks he grooved, I knew it was going to be an amazing night. The first track was Underworld's 'Cowboy' and the second was (my current favorite track) Trisco's 'Muzak'. From that point forward until around 5:30, Mr. Henry flooded the dancefloor with incessant pounding progressive house and trance. The bouncers were simply left fending for themselves swimming in a sea of complete bliss. Scott Henry created Buzz and last night, we praised him. Thank you Mr. Henry! http://www.electrophobic.com/Journalistic/000819.html
  18. Nope...I'm not going. I'll be at Glow though. Mario De Bellis and D-Rob will be there and hopefully bringing the house down. Went to Platinum last night. It was actually really good but way too many cheeseheads trying desparately to get with a girl. You can barely dance...and then, when it does clear out a bit, on comes the hip hop. Annoying...but hey, it's the only thing I know of on a Thursday night. Is there any other place in DC on a Thursday for progressive house/trance?
  19. Yes, Sandra Collins did have a residency at Twilo. I am not sure how long but the spot opened up right when she was coming onto the scene. As for PVD in NYC. I've been there and done that. Not too much of a fan of the PVD nights. The crowd is just not me and the music is good but not hard enough. No mystery...it's openfaced. The definition is SND...
  20. So, did anyone else from the DC area go see BT at the 9:30 club last night? What were your thoughts? Personally, I was disappointed. Maybe it's because I am spoiled with Twilo in NYC and Buzz in DC, but there were a few things that I didn't like. First, BT played for a measely hour. Unbelievable. He's from DC and gives us an hour. I think we waited from 8:15PM until 10PM (when he came on) listening to the entire spectrum of dance music. Everything from breakbeat to progressive house/trance to jungle. Annoying and it was not even loud enough. As for the crowd, the people were nice and all, but I just don't get the folks that wanna be up front and don't wanna dance? On a positive note, BT performance (for the hour he played) was very good. He worked the crowd wonderfully getting as many people jumping up and down as he could and the music was well, exactly like his releases. I say, the best songs were 'Believer' and 'Dreaming'... my faves.
  21. Sandra Collins is coming to Buzz September 8. As I saw her take the decks after Oakey in New York July 13, it should be grand. I think with the better sound system at Buzz, she should tear the place down. Now, who's going?
  22. Raver_Mania and I will be in Ibiza for the closing party @ Amnesia Thursday September 14th. Let's hope that we don't have the overweight meatheads shirtless everywhere like July 21 @ Twilo. Lame! Anyone else going to Cream @ Amnesia in Ibiza that night as well?
  23. I went to the last Foam party at Buzz. It was okay but the crowd was awesome. Everyone was there to partay. FYI, there's a foam party at Buzz Friday August 18.

    Hip Hop

I cannot believe I know this but you'll have to go to State of the Nation on U ST between 14th and 15TH STs. There's another club nearby that's dope for hip hop as well. Hope this helps...
