Definitely a pet peeve of mine. I suppose the only folks I don't mind dancing on boxes are the employed dancers. For instance, every once in a while Twilo has (what I like to call puppets) these guys/girls (or both) dancing on boxes all decked out with face paint, body paint and costume. Usually they are magnificient to look at and add to the mystique of the night...

I don't know about "soul flying" but for me, it's hard. I mean, I am mostly into SND and the stuff they play...well, you'll be lucky if you know 5 songs all night. There's always a track on SND nights that I say to myself, "This fuckin' shit is so damn good." But, alas, finding out the artist and name is the hard part. As for anthems, my current favorite is Trisco's "Muzak". Scott Henry (Buzz), Digweed, Sasha and Sandra Collins are some of the folks spinning it...

I couldn't go to Buzz last Friday...I was out of state for a wedding. But, this Friday is going to be mad! Gatecrasher and Sandra Collins spinning...too much fun. Never been to Cloud 9 on Thursdays @ Zei. I did, however, go to the rave at 2K9 on Sunday night (Sweat - www.sweatdc.com). It wasn't all that... too much light and the DJs were too varied in their styles (I stayed completely away from the jungle room.). Maybe I am picky, I dunno - going to start sticking to what I know is good...Buzz @ Nation on Fridays and Mango! @ Nation on Wednesdays.

Definitely Digweed. I've been a fan of his since I first heard Bedrock's "For What You Dream Of". Ever since that track, I have searched high and low with anything having Digweed's name on it, including Jackpot Records' "John Digweed presents Jackpot", which I have recently rediscovered in my collection. This was before I even started liking Sasha (which didn't occur until after I had started visiting Twilo on the last Friday of the month). Also, the last 3 or 4 SND nights @ Twilo have proven one thing to me. While Sasha can play the most amazing trance and get the crowd bouncing better than Digweed in the late part of the night (Digweed is a shy guy. That's the one thing that bothers me. How can Digweed not bounce? I mean, at 7AM he's spinning this chaotic progressive trance and he's still keeping complete control of his body), it's Digweed that provides the transitions and thus the overall journey (say for example at Twilo). Thus, it's Digweed all the way in terms of his DJ skills and his production skills (listen to 'Voices' baby!).

I was at Centrofly last Thursday as well as Twilo on Friday (SND) and heard this amazing song with the longest build up. I would love to know the artist/track. It does have this guy uttering a phrase as the music builds up. From what I can tell, it sounds like he is saying, "The hardest beat is yours." Oh yeah, it was one of the last songs that was grooved at SND. Anyone?

Definitely NOT a turn off. But, you do have to have a face for it. Some girls attempt it and they just don't look right. On the other hand, with some girls, you can't imagine them with long hair. It was like short hair was invented for them.

Buzz happens on Fridays @ Nation. Nation does have Velvet Nation on Saturdays but I've never been. I've been told it's a highly gay crowd but the music is good. So you might wanna try that. I've been to Glow on Saturdays and it's not exactly my favorite crowd, but the music is good and always pounding. Not too progressive though.
