  1. Daayyyyyummmm.... I haven't been to Palladium since it was a real club in the city, and Junya spun the Arena party there! Such a shame it's a NYU dorm now... and people gotta bite off the legend. ichi
  2. I also happen to remember DaVe standing up at offering a toast to those of us who came back full force to make a stand and reinforce a point, saying (It was, what, 2 years ago now? I can't remember the words exactly, but it went something like this...) "This company started as my fun time in my dorm room. I couldn't have gotten this far without you, I love what each and every one of you posts every day. Thank you for being here, watching ClubPlanet grow from ClubNYC and as we move into the future, remember, we're only getting better. I like hearing from you guys on what we can do better, and believe me, since you're the people who make ClubPlanet great, we're going to keep taking your advice so this board can only get bigger and stronger! Now let's eat. Oh, and where's everyone going after this?" So we voice our opinions, share our thoughts... see no response... we get a little harsher... and we get feedback and response. Good to see DaVe is taking steps to be a man of his word, as we all believe him to be. Sad that it took so much pressure, though... In the investment racket, we use the term "prompt" or "promptly" to describe the timing of responses and filings... when in business, I used the same yardstick for responding to shippers and customers. I don't know the timeframe in this instance, but I would certainly hope that promptness was a factor in responding. Unfortunately, for many of us, responses have been less than prompt, if not downright nonexistant. As you say, respect is given those that return it. If respect is given, and not returned, as in the case of the IM that was dared to be posted, then later posted, where can one take issue with any degree of animosity felt on certain sides of the debate at hand? ichi
  3. No, thank YOU. Is the m...@clubplanet.com address still the one you use, or are you sticking to dave@clubplanet.com now? ichi
  4. Looks like this thread (and others) are begging to drag me out of CNYC retirement... No, not worth my time. ichi_youaintseenregulationyet
  5. That wasn't fierce sweetheart, that was crude. Bitch don't know the MEANING of the word fierce. *snap* ichi
  6. deanna - Your point seems to have proven itself, my friend. The stupid are simply too stupid to recognize that fact, and will ALWAYS be the first to object, insisting that the "am not/are too" argument is the most effective first line of defense. Quite comical, how they do mock themselves, no? Best, ichi
  7. The primary difference between genius and stupidity is that genius knows limits. deanna11 definitely knows her limits, and they are NOT set by any mother hen. ichi
  8. Not that I was a poster back then... but you've still got Abtrakt around.... but people like Dee-c, Mike Kaos, Dmitry (as Dmitry D), rayray, Anthony (I know he's still here, keepin it old skool!), the original MsKittyNJ, Mercury, JennyOutrage (I don't think that's quite right), DIVA, Darren (what is he on RP now? he was DK then Digital K, i dunno anymore... still doing lights around the city), a coupla guys from eightball used to post, is ShawteeRoc today the old shortyroc?, Hex (as in Hector), djdan... hell, my bookmarks for this site are still "cnyc" and likely always will be. It's hell talking about "ClubNYC" and just getting a blank stare from a current board member though, makes me feel so goddamned old, when I'm really not... just started this shit way too young for my own good. ichi_thisnamecameaboutincollegesoiregistereditlongafteriwaseverreadingtheboard
  9. I honestly don't believe the whole 20 seconds or so it takes to cut and paste such a bilious attack is out of line for someone who ADMINISTERS a board related to A COMPANY IN WHICH HE HOLDS A FINANCIAL INTEREST. I would consider that to not be a waste of time, but common business sense. If a competitor's (a competitor with whom the attacked company has a working relationship) underling is going to be voicing such unfounded attacks, I think one of the targets of said attack is well within his rights to expose the underling for the FAKE, PHONY, FRAUD that she is. It is disheartening that, in light of such damning evidence, the competitor steadfastly refuses to take any manner of action to stem such behavior... behavior which, in the long run, can serve only to do damage to his own company and reputation. ichi
  10. I guess we drifted away long enough to get forgotten... I come back here and stir shit up once in a great while, but too damn busy lately. ichi_gladtoseegravitysbeingsogentlewiththepups
  11. Suggestion: Take me with you. That is all. ichi
  12. I wonder how long it'll take for this thread to be closed? I agree with ya, Vamps! As for those who want to redirect the topic off on other tangents, who don't you post your views in the thread you're referring to? OOooops, wait, oh that one's CLOSED!! Point proven. ichi
  13. I believe it's all part of the "dumbing down" of clubland, in concert with the dumbing down of America in general. As the underground reaches the mainstream, the average idiot gains more of a foothold. The above-average idiots find new places to move on to, while the newbies keep sniffing for a hint of our assholes on the fair breeze... just so they know where to infest next. ichi_idontthinkiwaseverquitethisdumbeither
  14. DaVe is the guy who used to run the board and site in addition to being the owner. He's the one who steps in to stop the fights that Lainie picks with people when she lets her alligator mouth write checks her mosquito ass can't pay. ichi_hopethisclearsitupforya
  15. A sad state of affairs... so boring with the predictable responses and weak personalities... and hardly a damn bit of music discussion to be found! ichi_goingbacktobedwakemeupifthekiddiesgetaclue
  16. Hope to see ya's tonight? Jade Terrace anyone? ichi
  17. Newport - Christie's, only because the old owners were family friends... Dave @ Acquidneck Seafood might still remember me... bodysurfing off first beach... Harbor Hill, great dinner with the rooms there. ichi
  18. Mecca!! Spain, ehh? You probably waited on me once or twice I also went to the Coast Guard House to get my drink on (BEST place during big storms!) Black Point Bar (great pool tables when they first opened), and, yeah, even though I was living on Tuckertown, I rented a summer house on Sand Hill Cove Road (how frgiggin rhode island can you get?!?), so I could stagger/crawl home from Charlie O's and have some very very drunk parties without wrecking my own house LOL. I'd go to Mews when I wanted to do that!! I think I had about $20 on the ceiling there at one point... There was also a decent French restaurant in Wakefield... until some silly bastard decided to drive through it. I don't know if you were out there when a small place called the South Shore Grill was there... I am still friendly with the former owners of that place. Last real effort at a restaurant that Narragansett had. And Barry's, yeah, I heard of it but never went. Oh well, ya can't be EVERYwhere! You're killin me here, I've started dropping my Rs again, thirsting for a Del's, and wondering if Doug White and that frog-faced dude with the hair helmet are still on TV. This is terrible, wanting to go back... LOL ichi :rainbow:
  19. OMFG, Shooters! India Point, down by the Hurricane Barrier... Shooters, where all the chest hair and gold chains from Roger Wheeler beach congregated mid-week. Watched a bunch of drunk clowns get on the wrong boat after leaving there, somehow got the wrong boat running, and proceeded to take out 3 other boats, including their own, before finally almost getting off the dock... they got busted, and it wasn't long afterward that Shooters closed and became something else... Fish Co. "after hours," Viva!, Basha... a couple others on Thayer St.... Capriccio and Cafe Nuovo for their bar scene... The Green Room/Snookers for a pool hall - more than several times I got poured out of there - and a few times with some VERY underage kids from school - and the Wickenden Pub and Olivers... as designated driver. ohmy. I was a bad influence on the kids, i guess... Driving from Providence back up to Smithfield (Bryant College), or to Johnston (Killingly St. when I moved there) or to Wakefield (when I moved down to Tuckertown Road...)... what a friggin disaster... Speaking of disasters, is the Ocean Mist still alive? OK, this is bad, suddenly I am thinking of making reservations for Al Forno and taking a ride up there for the hell of it... LOL ichi
  20. In response: In the wake of such insistence about specific titular roles on the board; a quick lesson in semantics, for all moderators and posters alike: moderator n 1: any substance used to slow down neutrons in nuclear reactors 2: someone who presides over a forum or debate 3: someone who mediates disputes and attempts to avoid violence Source: WordNet ® 1.6, © 1997 Princeton University dictator \Dic*ta"tor\, n. [L.] 1. One who dictates; one who prescribes rules and maxims authoritatively for the direction of others. --Locke. 2. One invested with absolute authority; especially, a magistrate created in times of exigence and distress, and invested with unlimited power. Invested with the authority of a dictator, nay, of a pope, over our language. --Macaulay. Source: Webster's Revised Unabridged Dictionary, © 1996, 1998 MICRA, Inc. dictator n 1: someone who rules unconstrained by law [syn: potentate] 2: behaves like a tyrant [syn: authoritarian] Source: WordNet ® 1.6, © 1997 Princeton University The whole idea of moderating, therefore, is to specifically NOT take sides, but to maintain some semblance of order. There is neither book to be written nor to be read, when a simple dictionary entry will suffice... A moderator is in a position whereby he or she is tasked with remaining between participants, but above the fray, stepping in when neccessary to control uncalled-for outbursts. A moderator should expect to be questioned, to be reviled, to be harangued simply by being in the middle of any dispute, but to remain as impartial as possible. And the posting populace has a right to expect such impartiality on the part of the moderators. As I said in my first post, when the need to step in arises, if a side must be chosen, that side ought to be the interest of the board. I have been through too many arbitration boards and mediation hearings for various topics to sit idly by and watch such a simple and elemental concept become skewed and those living by it skewered. My personal rule of thumb, worth to you exactly what you paid for it, is, 'if I find myself having to justify or explain my actions without being asked, then I obviously screwed up.' ichi
  21. It fails to be "just a messageboard" when seemingly angry messages turn into physical actions. "Just a messageboard" implies "just words" on "just a website." When those words leave the website into the instant message realm, or worse, off the boards and into the realm of fisticuffs and forcible physical behavior, CNYC and posters here begin to test dangerous waters in terms of moral rights and wrongs, as well as legal rights and wrongs. If a war of words is waged and left as words, with all parties willing to move beyond, then fine. It seems, however, that certain parties are not content to leave things on the boards; instead enforcing their own particular views on how the world ought to work in venues inappropriate for them to do so. I am just trying to be a voice of reason among all of this, not picking sides and not picking fights. ichi
  22. Firstly, it is appalling business practice to keep someone on the "customer service" side of things who consistitently insults and attacks the "customers." Moderators might sometimes need to play devil's advocate, but ought not choose sides between board members; if any sides must be chosen , it ought to be the side in the best interest of the company. Second, I find it disturbing and disappointing that, after there were some incidents of CP "calling out" impostors a while ago, only to EVERY TIME walk away with egg on the collective CP face, this should be happening again. Public humiliation of board members invariably becomes public humilation of the board and those doing the "calling out." DaVe had said, way back when, that this was a poor means of dealing with issues, and would not be the policy of CNYC any longer. Apparently, plus ca change, c'est plus ca meme chose. Lastly, CNYC does put a lot of effort into running the boards and lists, I'm sure. Just as their competitors do, I'm sure. With rare exception, however, those competitors do not seem to have the issues with their subscribers such as we see on CNYC anymore... OK, so I might be a bitter, tired, old faggot for whinging about this, but in 97-98, when I FIRST joined, and then just over a year ago when I rejoined, people could give each other crap, and it wouldn't be a fight... it'd be forgotten. It's sad for an older clubber to see something that once was such an integral part of online nightlife go so utterly wrong. Perhaps the reason why so many boards have sprung from here can be seen in the posts of a very few right here in other threads... DaVe, you've got an alleycat on a leash which thinks it might be a tiger... please don't follow the same illusion until that tiger comes back around to bite you, too. ichi_backtolurking
  23. Providence hasn't been the same since Babyhead shut down... Pulse eats it, Hell is nothing, The Strand - isn't that a parking garage now? I miss working there and Lupo's... they sometimes had some good acts come through. Y'all might also be forgetting Ft. Lauderdale, LMAO... Confetti's, I watched a kid get his head kicked in by two bouncers one night in 1995... cops roll up to the beat-down in the middle of Charles St., toss the kid in the back of their van, and take off, the bouncers head back inside. Metropolis, Complex, feh... And the 'other' places... mirabar, etc.... I don't know how I survived there for 5 years! ichi
