  1. phunk - yeah, a lot of people noticed that about Pataki... or in my friend's words... "I knew Giuliani had a limp dick, but i didn't realize it was named Pataki." as for the P.S. - LMAO, again I agree with ya ichi_reallylovesitwhenhegetsantiasiancommentsmadeabouthim Hope to see you all at the meetup in October!
  2. dear nowrotten, The answer to your question is yes, and grow up. Twizlos isn't the first club to close, and it won't be the last. Tunnel is closed because of Gatien. Palladium is closed because of NYU. Carbon is closed because of Exit. Paradise Garage, The Bank, Save the Robots, the list goes on and on... all closed. Twilo is closed because of a pattern of OD's, and mishandling of those situations. Giuliani got a hard-on for Steve because his people fucked up. Cox played venues other than Twilo before he ever played there, and PVD plays in Boston, DC, South Beach, and Toronto. I can go see him there if I care to. Twilo is not the be-all and end-all of clubs... after all, it was only the old Sound Factory space when it started off. Guess what? I remember the old Sound Factory, and Twilo the 2nd week it was open. Do you? Don't EVER lecture me. itchy
  3. Neurotron, in case you might not have noticed, I am more of a regular here than you. Under one name or another, I have been on this board since 1997, and clubbing since 1993. I highly doubt that you have any great revelations that are going to shock or amaze me where clubs, clubbers, or club life are concerned, nor can you educate me very much on what CNYC is all about. Since April of 1993, I have valued more nights in clubs, bars, lounges, and other assorted venues in this city than you care to imagine, spending a long period of time going out 6 nights a week, while still going to school, then working, during the day. In those past 8 years and a few months, I have watched the city change VASTLY for the better. In those past 8 years and a few months, I have watched rights and freedoms be restored, as certain privileges were revoked. In those past 8 years and a few months, I have consistenly failed to OD, overuse, get arrested, get hospitalized, or even pass out from drug use. I hope when you get to be a bitter old clubgoer like myself, you can claim the same. Politics is an integral part of keeping or killing the nightlife scene, and so is being responsible. Perhaps you haven't been around this board long enough to know my name, but you will learn it. Keep an eye out for who's at the meetings to support Limelight... it ain't you. Keep an eye out for who knows what's going on at the clubs, or what a certain couple of DJ's here in the city (Hell's Kitchen and TriBeCa guys) have to say. Then come back and tell me what is what. Now know your role, and sit down before you make a bigger jackass out of yourself. You don't know what is what. ichi.
  4. I'll be there from all five messageboards, but you already knew that ;-) ichi_gonnahaveonehellofabignametag

  6. Why the race issue? Are you racist? Why do you make a point of "innocent blacks?" Your use of the word innocent implies that ordinary "blacks" are guilty of something. How about innocent people? That issue aside, Giuliani has done something that no recent Mayor, none since LaGuardia, has done; he has told the police "I am going to give you the respect that you deserve, and believe that you ARE actually enforcing the law to the best of your ability, as you have sworn to." He backs the cops because he has a very strong sense of right and wrong, and right, to the Mayor, falls on the side of law enforcement. After all, he was a prosecutor and DA for more than a few years before his current gig down on Park Row. People think there is some meanness, some vindictive streak to the man... well, maybe he is as guilty of this as any of us, but the policies he seeks to institute and enforce come from a deep love of the city. The man honestly wants NYC to be the biggest, best, and most beautiful city in the world. Speaking of JERKS, your statement "wow it's weird how he lost sum cops in the WTC tragedy. KARMA" speaks volumes. At the same time that NYC lost cops, wives lost husbands, husbands lost wives, children lost parents, parents lost children... no matter how you look at it, the only JERK who is earning bad KARMA here would be you. ichi
  7. if house only sounds good on drizz, what does hip-hop sound good on? toast points? To each his own, I suppose. ichi
  8. Good folks of CNYC, realize that New York City has existed for lots of years, and for almost all of those years, it has NOT been as decent a place to live and work as it is now. Rudy Giuliani has done a hell of a lot for this city. It was depressing back in the 1980's and early '90s. OK, so we had no cops telling us to stay on the sidewalk, no health department people shutting down street vendors for selling botulism, no T&LC inspectors making sure the cabs we hop into at least have brakes, no street sweepers making sure we aren't walking in broken glass everywhere... no sanitation department making sure the trash is picked up more than every 10 days... no parking authority making sure that abandoned and stripped cars do not sit in front of uptown, midtown, and downtown addresses for weeks on end... not much of an MTA keeping subway lines operational, clean, and safe... anyone besides me remember the riding the Lexington line, or the 7 or the F when you couldn't see out the windows for the graffiti, were afraid to sit for what was on the seats, and prayed that your train didn't stall in a tunnel or have a brake fire? When the tiles were falling down in every station, 1/2 or less of the lights worked in some, and rats ran on the platforms of some? Yeah the city doesn't look like the Gotham of Batman movies, or perhaps something from The Crow, or Blade. It really sucks that is has to be this way, doesn't it? And Giuliani harrassed businesses? Then why did the flow of jobs REVERSE during his administration? Companies left in DROVES under Koch and Dinkins. Urban residency was dropping in double-digit percentages each year. Rents were low because there was nobody to fill apartments. Crime was much higher, and one reason clubs were not shut down is the cops were afraid to go into the areas where clubs were! I remember those days, and not always so fondly. Ever get mugged on your way to a club by someone wielding a dirty needle? 2 friends of mine did - pre-Giuliani. Anyone remember how "any mayor" Dinkins handled the '93 WTC bombing? That's right, he DIDN'T! He hid, let his Lt. Mayor speak... let Charlie Maikish (a friend of mine), one of the top Port Authority cops, handle things until the FBI took over. And STILL he hid from any leadership position. About Rudy staying @ the Waldorf? How about a court telling him he could not live his life in the housing the city provides for the MAYOR because the mayor's estranged wife (whom we DID NOT elect, btw) had more say in that housing. John Lindsay kept paramours in hotels around the city, several at a time, at city expense. So what? Rudy kept one place. No, he shouldn't be above the law by any means, and I know "just because someone else did it doesn't make it right" but fer cryin out loud, this is all nitpicking. Big picture. Forest for the trees. Long view. Shit, nightlife isn't what makes the city work, folks. It makes it fun to a slice of the population that we represent, but we don't represent the city at large. So let's stand up for what we have left, remember what we had, and move the fawk on. If you are so damned concerned about nightlife being shut down, be more responsible about what you ingest on your partying nights. Stop the ODs and stupid shit like that, the clubs won't be under such scrutiny. And they won't be shut down. Meantime, be glad you can show up at a club at 1 am... or leave at 3, 4, 5, 6 am and be pretty confident you're gonna make it home. I don't think he should be in for another term, but perhaps another year, to ease someone new into the position. Give him a year of finalizing all that's being done at the south end of our faire isle here, then he should go, and run again after the next mayor's term, if he thinks it's right to do so. Enough proselytizing, ichi
  9. Speaking of spreading rumors when you don't know if they are true or not... Giuliani does not have the authority to suspend liquor licenses, that power lies with the State Liquor Authority. Secondly, that is not an overnight process, nor can it be done temporarily, without just cause, or for "most major clubs." With that ludicrous pap out of the way, let's move on to the next subject, whether or not Factory was planning on being open... In an email sent out on Wednesday, 12.September (1 pm-ish): Due to recent events effecting our city and country, Soundfactory has decided to postpone our S&M party; originally scheduled for Sept 15, 2001. (as of now the party will be on Sept 29th, 2001) The club will be opened on both Friday and Saturday nights for its regular weekend parties, and will provide a place for all of us to come together as one. Thank you, Soundfactory management for more club info you can call us @ 212-489-0001 Thursday afternoon came with this follow-up (3 pm-ish): SF WILL BE TAKING $10 OFF OF EVERYONE'S ADMISSION AND IT WILL BE DONATED. Friday afternoon was met with this revelation (11 am-ish): Sound Factory is Closed for weekend of September 15th Please call: 212 489 0001 for confirmation. From people who spoke with Richard Grant - meaning straight from the horse's ass, not sugar coated yet - the S&M party was postponed because "I don't think enough people will show." The reduced admission and generic "will be donated" was not only an afterhtought, but a slap in the face of everyone who was putting forth selfless effort on behalf of those who were in need. The even more belated closing added insult to injury when SF tried to make it seem somehow noble of them. It was also noted that a thread on another board was read by Grant, and something written there had an influence on that decision. So, it seems, the only person conjuring rumors would be the one blindly championing what could only perversely be called a "cause." ichi
  10. dave posted his yesterday... cnyc is not the lone source of info in the city ichi
  11. Oh, I dunno... perhaps from DaVe himself... in saying 'Hello all, from Ibiza... ' "Clubplanet.com is currently down because our Internet connection is based downtown. Our ISP is working to fix this now...it´s just not that important. Our every conversation here is about the tragedy... (we read 4 papers at breakfast this morning) Sounds like I will have no problem getting home. And, Clubplanet is definitely up for putting on a benefit. I am doing my best to enjoy the trip. Sounds like everyone from here had their trip cancelled, but I am glad that you are safe." Thanks DaVe, for everything you do in helping a community have a place to be. ichi
  12. Mikey, glad to hear you are safe... Rob was on the 40th floor of 1 Trade, 2nd building hit... got out before the 2nd plane came in. Anyone have ANY word of Casey??? Talked to someone who works on the 97th floor of the 1st building (2 Trade) on a biz trip to Atlanta... he was on the phone with the office at the time of the first hit, said everyone in the office knew they were done for. He is still crying inconsolably. <shudders> ichi. :whoa:
  13. ichi_gami is alright jdogg ooana saintjsc msray380 roby ultrabudda... all OK
  14. I think if anyone were to have confidence in his stance it would be puppet Bush, considering he has President Cheney, his dad, Colin Powell, H. Norman Schwartzkopf, and the rest of the military bigwigs stomping around making plans. What I saw in his remarks was a dose of humanity - if he were to be taking a pure hard line, I personally would be wondering just how inhuman he could possibly be. ichi
  15. I was expecting to be there (WTC Mall) today to hit a couple of stores as they opened... My roomate (saintjsc) is running a high fever and has a bad case of strep, so I was running late trying to call his job to tell them he wouldn't be in today; that made me about 20 minutes late. Thank god he is sick, or else I would have been in or just outside (grabbin a smoke as I waited) the towers on Church St. I just can't stop shaking, and the tears come and go, but I know the memories will last even longer. I was standing up by Christ Hospital in JCity to watch the towers fall... so odd to realize that there is no more tall building inside that cloud of dust and smoke. The smoke is rising, but we could taste the dust in the air over in Jersey. Countless lives affected, huge amounts of mney lost, huge amount of infrastructure changed... a skyline, a city, a nation, a world irreparably altered in the name of blood. How revolting. World markets are getting crushed today, I imagine domestics will follow suit as soon as they reopen. Trading is being halted worldwide on bomb threats; world leaders are debating opening trading "tomorrow" as that rolls around the world. Fuck martyrdom, I don't think there should be any pity or respect for whomever did this, nor for their reasons. My first reaction was to begin speaking the words I memorized nearly 8 years ago: (December 8, 1941) To the Congress of the United States: Yesterday, Dec. 7, 1941 - a date which will live in infamy - the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan. The United States was at peace with that nation and, at the solicitation of Japan, was still in conversation with the government and its emperor looking toward the maintenance of peace in the Pacific. ... I Don't expect Bush to be anywhere near as eloquent, but dammit, I expect him to be as effective. ichi
  16. 1)there good looking i disagree, and obviously have different standards 2)You think you know it all you queer. hardly. but tempkid seems quite self-assured that he has all the right answers 3)Your just jelous because you would never fit in at Tempts i listed quite a number of reasons why i do not want to "fit in" at tempts; what is there to be jealous about? there is a whole big island full of places I ENJOY, why would i be jealous about someplace I do not? this is kindergarten type argument. 4)As for Junior it's ok when he plays old or any other song that Denny would play but if Denny plays it its cheese and Junior it's Wow. this was a reply to my reply to his question... and showed absolutely zero comprehension skills on his part 5)And you just suck (I also swallow, and I'm versatile) 6)It's people like you who go there and just bitch about the crowd for no reason that have the bad attitude to beagin with. on the contrary, i enumerated the reasons why i dislike the crowd, i did not 'bitch...for no reason' These are just some quick, obvious ones. I'm not going to nitpick every point, it's not worth it. And Petrol - been layin low, keeping things quiet over the summer. I'm back now!
  17. LOL, no, she never took it out on me, I'd have to work there in order for that to happen, and if that happened, I'd probably be miserable enough to spit in her food. The Runcible was just sorta my and my friends' "Central Perk" - although we always paid. ichi
  18. I'm pretty sure kludgio means Tunnel, and that's closed. Nothing else worth going to in that shady part of town. ichi
  19. Interesting... this weekend, "I'm gay" didn't work. I ended up with two women humping me openly on the dance floor, and one "I swear I'm straight" guy saying 'I know' and dancing a little closer... ichi :rainbow:
  20. From the perspective of the staff of a certain Nyack NY bake shop, I know they wanted to put razors in her danish. She would come in, cut everyone on line, and harrass the shit out of the workers there, raising her voice if not attended to IMMEDIATELY, after all I'M ROSIE O'DONNELL!!! Then she'd bitch about things not being fresh like made last minute, bitch loudly about this, that, and the other thing, take a whole bunch of shit and leave. Never paid while there, always just expected to be treated the the goddamned queen and billed for whatever she stormed out with. The sappy sweetness she shows on TV is all an act - to be expcted... after all, she is an actress. And she was that nasty, apparently, even before she got famous, so it's not a reactionary thing. ichi
  21. pkern, thank you. i'm looking forward to seeing you there! ichi :rainbow:
