Press Release: SULLIVAN ROOM * KEEPING IT FRESH FOR 2005! New sound and look unveiled on January 22nd. The Sullivan Room, New York's leading venue for underground dance music and late-night revelry, is kicking off 2005 with a stunning sound upgrade and visual facelift. On Saturday, January 22nd, the Sullivan Room will unveil a state-of-the-art sound installation that will make every night at the club even more memorable. The present sound system will be completely replaced with Cerwin-Vega's flagship line of ultra high-performance speaker systems * the VISION system. Based around high-tech titanium drivers and rugged birch cabinetry, VISION combines crystal-clear highs, punchy mids, and deep driving bass, elevating the dancing and listening experience to a whole new level. The improvements have been made with the DJs in mind as well. Club director Sergei Sklarenko says the Sullivan Room, the only venue in New York to feature the VISION system, will now attract even more of the world's leading DJs. "We've really focused on making the Sullivan Room a place where the DJs have an unforgettable time," he says. "This new system will only heighten the energy and experience." To help christen the new system will be Sullivan Room veteran Behrouz from San Francisco. This rising west coast DJ and producer's stunning mix of tribal, deep and progressive house will certainly give the VISION sound system a full-on workout. Warming up will be DJ Adam Freemer. Beyond the sound, there are more changes afoot at the Sullivan Room. The club's interior is getting a visual makeover as well, from the couches to the walls and beyond. The new look will only deepen the feeling that when one ventures inside the Sullivan Room, they are going on a nightlife journey into the unknown. The club's final night in its present form will be Saturday, January 15th with guest DJ Garth from San Francisco. To unveil the new room, the club will be hosting a VIP open bar on January 22nd from 9PM to 11PM. The new look and sound is the first step for what promises to be a big year for the club. Club Systems International has nominated the Sullivan room for its 2005 Nightstalker prize at their annual Club World Awards, held during the Winter Music Conference. The Sullivan Room is also hosting its first-ever WMC showcase on Thursday, March 24th at Teasers on Ocean Drive, with a full-on lineup of club favorites including Hector Romero, Scumfrog, Asad Rizvi, Jay Tripwire and many more. Hey guys, I'm visiting out there soon and a friend is trying to talk me into moving out there. Is it really that bad? Who plays the rounds at the clubs?? House, Trance, etc.. ??

Well Maria, I was at Stereo 2 weeks ago for DJ Vibe and after that experience, I realized how pathetic ny nightlife is. A bunch of clueless clubgoers going to sha-sha clubs with no soul, let a lone a decent soundsystem or promotion team. If you think "phazon" or any of that brand name nonsense means anything (no disrepect to steve dash who is a brillian sound designer) then you really need to experience STEREO in Montreal. Phazon is just a name and Twilo was really the last expression of what that company could really do in nyc. Arc was mediocre at best. And does anyone understand the basic concept of a nice square room, paint it black and put in a great soundsystem and booth and then book great talent? Not 2 hour UK talent and the need for VIP and laser beams and other nonsense. NYC is supposed to be the defacto standard by which other clubs and city's nightlife is measured. I hope they see the light soon and get back to the roots. NYC NEEDS SHORTY!!!!!!!!

Tigerhook is great and I wish them well over there. Stopped by last week and had the same thoughts though, the system and dj booth are extremely whack, but then again, sound is kinda whack everywhere in philly

Well as a true househead and dt fan for many years I can say I am one of the only few people in this town playing house grooves and NOT progressive sounds if that's what you are looking for. Wednesdays at Fluid is an excellent time with more progressive oriented dj's. Transit is closed, evolotion does hip-hop on Fridays and Shampoo plays modern rock now on saturdays with some extremely lame dj on Friday instead of legendary Philly staple Robbie Tronco who no longer works there. Philly is not nyc, so dont have any expectations. If you want to go out on a Wednesday I suggest Fluid, Friday I suggest my party at Tribecca (TWISTED Friday).
