  1. Great review! I hope to see him (and you) there as well! Have you heard his Live at Space CD? It just came out not too long ago, DEFINITELY worth buying. I think I'll be listening to mine on the plane down there.
  2. What time does Spirit close? I'm torn between OG and Behrouz, but I might be able to do both!
  3. Yo, I love him too! Remember when he used to open for Deep Dish all the time back at Buzz. I just found out about this when I logged onto CP! I would love to go....we'll see how I feel later. Plus, I'm leaving at 8 Wednesday morning, should I just conserve my energy?
  4. I am VERY impressed with the new venue!! The room is about the same size as Cheetah, but MUCH easier to get around because the dance floor is spacious and there is seating along boths sides of the club, in addition to there being two stage areas and a couple of VIP "booths". It was decorated with an ENORMOUS ass on the stage, and Anthony Lamont was up to his usual shenanigans, sticking his arm in it and then the mic. There were plenty of gorgeous dancers, male and female, I also liked the poles on the bars. One of those girls was on that pole upside-down and everything! They were some beautiful girls. Nice to see female dancers along with the buff boys. The crowd was the same Cheetah crowd, definitely nice to see everyone again at the new JUMP-OFF! The music was OFFICIAL, it was like the DJs were adjusting to their new home and making the transition much easier for us as well. Good hard beats all night, along with plenty of our favorites and anthems. The system is NIIIIICE, the club was thumping like crazy!! What is coolest about Show is that is on a most unassuming street, an underground spot entirely different from the bustling, center-stage commercial mecca a few blocks away known as Times Square. The Rob Promotions crew have outdone themselves once again. I love each and every one of their parties! Excellent venue choice.....can't wait to go back next week. Anuka (sp?) will be there performing the Cheetah anthem "Appreciate Me". Quote of the evening: Anthony Lamont (of course) "Have you seen my runway? I'm looking for my runway." LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOO Why was I just wondering the SAME exact thing right before he asked? I know how he likes to strut his stuff....but he looked fabulous and ruled the dance floor (I love him and his energy, he is the ONLY person I know that can be a fierce diva and a strong black man at the same time) - another thing: I haven't seen people dance the way they were dancing last night in a LONG time. One young lady even lost her dayum mind, and was on the stage showing ass like you would NOT believe, but it was hysterical. One word to sum up the night : WONDERFUL. But who would expect less?
  5. Yo, good lookin out! I'm sorry I didn't make the party at Sullivan Room, but when I went into Satellite this evening, his album was featured at a listening station. You were right, I loved it and immediately bought a copy. Can't wait to get home to listen to it! *dapz* I also bought my very first vinyl....not that I even have turntables. BUT - it makes me feel like I made a small commitment, and I'm happy about that!
  6. Yeah, he's always cool and laid-back. Glad to hear he's better. Did they catch the assailant?
  7. I think it's cause Sharam needs some black POONTANG to add some more FLAVA to his sets! I'll see what I can do.
  8. Get the FUCK outta here!!!!! Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?!?!?!?! Any more details?
  9. Why DID Crobar stop the afterhours? The place closes at 6 now, Ali had to put one more record on last night so we could at least PRETEND to be making our way out.
  10. They used to bang it the fuck OUT, right?!?! Maybe it's cause it's their home turf....anyhow, they have to show and prove at Space!! No doubt that will be bananas.
  11. I guess those are trance DJs for the most part? I went last week and the place looked like a massage parlor/crack house earlier in the night. I had more fun watching THEM than doing anything else!
  12. Now that is a muthafuckin shame!
  13. VERY, very well said. BUMP!!! Who else is coming to see the King of New York? Yeah!!!!
  14. Yeah, the club is absolutely GORGEOUS. The crowd was very mixed and cool. I was disappointed with Deep Dish myself, though. I felt that they didn't play as hard as they used to back in the day when I'd see them at Buzz. Them and Erick Morillo got me hooked on the scene, so to not have that same exhilaration I felt back then when I saw them last night was a bit of a blower. But Sharam looked pretty hot, so all is forgiven. Anyhow, I KNOW Erick is gonna make y'all come TOGETHER tonight! Saw him last night, he gave me a flyer, talkin bout "Come to my party, it's gonna be REALLY COOL!" LOVE that motherfucker!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! See y'all tonight if you know what's good for ya.
  15. Cool! Definitely heard of him. Also, what about Soulstice? Everyone keeps thinking I'm the lead singer, Lisa.... When I was in Miami last year, I had tons of "fans" running up to me telling me how much they loved me. I saw them perform at Goddess, and they were hot, but now I forget the sounds. Are the mellowed-out? Picked up Lazy Dogs vol 1&2 the other day, love them both. Nice, sexy and soulful house. But I need something hard right now.
  16. Also, anyone else have any suggestions? Remember - dirty, deep, dark and hard.
  17. You ain't slick! LMAO! But sure, I'll hit you up and come check this cat out. Where can I find his album? Virgin?
  18. Help me out y'all. I'm looking for a good compilation of good tribal, hard beats, shit like Oscar G's newest which is FIYAH. I love Morillo and Danny too, what albums can you suggest I pick up this evening? Not too much of those techy beats, lots of drums....DIRTY. Thanks!
  19. LMAO....What a great answer! What are some good record shops in Manhattan that I can check out for some good tribal, etc?
  20. Damn, I probably saw you! There were lots of pretty girls on the stage. Who else went here or Disco on Sun/Mon? Holla back!
  21. I'm gonna be buying myself some turntables, etc and wanted to know whether or not I should get them new, and how much I should expect to spend total on the equipment and records. How many records should I buy for the first time? What's a good starter amount? And what's a good magazine (websites too) for rookies? THANKS Y'ALL!
  22. where can I find the link to this? Not too familiar.....
  23. I JUST BOUGHT THAT BOOK THIS AFTERNOON! I decided I wanted to make a better informed decision about "my friends" use of it and ordered it the other day. Good shit.
