this is what i find so offensive about the term. having sex is not something to be ashamed of. one feeling that s/he needs to call him/herself a "born-again virgin" is just sending oneself down a self-hating shame spiral, actually staying in the past, and not moving on to the future.

the two most amazing turntablists i've ever seen are dj craze (he's won technics' battles a couple of times) and dj funk (though he doesn't bill himself as a turntablist). when dj craze does his hip-hop stuff, it makes my jaw drop , and dj funk can switch records faster and play more in one set than anyone else i've ever seen .

kbig is the "80s, 90s, and today" station that you'll generally hear in the doctor's office or the movie theater, before the show starts. ya know, a little phil collins, a little backstreet boys, a little en vogue - stuff like that. at night, though, they have a whole different sound. they play some sort of updated-discoish with a funk bend mix that keeps me bouncing in my car seat all the way home; what can i say? "play that funky music, whiteboy" has always been a disco fave of mine . and one night they played a gen-u-ine housey mix of some various whatnot that i really can't explain, but it must've been a friday or saturday 'cause it wasn't like the other nights. anycrap, great dancey radio (don't give me that "i hate mainstream music" crap. it's the radio - and it's great for what it is) to which one can drive home .

while in the produce section at the supermarket, i always get my staple fruits (d'anjou pears and fuji apples, unless they really don't look good that week), then whatever seems particularly good at the time. sunday, at ralph's, as soon as i entered the section, the air was full of peaches. omiGOD - it was overwhelming. i had to get some. they're incredible right now; i highly recommend getting them. they're the kind that are messy and juicy, no matter how neat you try to be while eating them. and they're sweet, too, but only sweet enough. to top it off, ralph's has 'em on sale! it doesn't get any better than that .

yeah, what's the skinny on this event, anyway? why was it just set on such short notice? are they gonna configure the bowl in a way so that people can dance; is that even possible? it's all rather weird . answers if ya got 'em, please.

i think the term "born again virgin" denigrates those who have had sex, implying that virginity is all that's respectable. it also insinuates that having had sex was a mistake about which one should feel ashamed, not a choice that someone may have learned from (or, heaven forbid, enjoyed, at the time).there is nothing wrong with abstinence, and that is not only more truthful, but as admirable as what this term we're discussing is supposed to mean.
