  1. if renting, it is important to be a responsible tenant who cares for his/her space. it is very easy to be kicked out of a space - don't think the landlord will have a problem doing it . tune in tomorrow.
  2. it brought me a real sense of calm and inner peace.
  3. this is strictly about filling in for someone at work. see my reply to 11/16's wisdom .
  4. where did you eat the little buggers , and under what circumstances? when i was six, i went to germany w/ my fam for my stepfather's mom's 80th b'day. at dinner, venison and rabbit were served. i ran away from the dinner table crying, very upset that everyone was eating thumper and bambi .
  5. i'm with you on the cessation of the peepee drinking !!! but i also fail to see the entertainment value in these shows . it's gross to do and gross to watch. and it's gotten boring by now, too, 'cause all that ever happens is a bunch of people hack/retch, etc. we are supposed to care about these idiots who knowingly put themselves in this position because...
  6. ah - i shall explain . often my column is very specific when i read it to myself but seems to come across as more broad to others. sorry about that ! the one about not pursuing things in which we don't feel confident was not about "just things," it was about filling in for someone in a work-type situation. i wrote: "committing yourself to something you're not entirely confident you can do just to try to be helpful or nice to fill in for someone can very easily lead to disaster. it's not your fault if you can't do something; whoever's asking will just have to find someone else. but you are partly to blame if you agree to the situation of which you're not totally sure and then find out you're in over your head." and my point wasn't that we shouldn't try to be helpful, but that we should really assess these kinds of situations and try to see if the help that's being asked of us is something we are truly fit to give. and this one isn't just "if at first... try again," but more "take care to see that you're really finding a good time to try - one that's right for you (and more likely to be successful, too )." was that a good explanation ?
  7. i know no one's reading this, but the meteor shower outside right now is awesome, and i never use that word. go out and look! one streak every 20 seconds or so!!!!!!!!!!
  8. i think about this a lot as though i'll eventually be so filthy rich that i'll be able to design or at least afford the perfect place . a girl's gotta dream, y'know? well, i'd rather live in an apartment than a house, but here in l.a. the apts aren't like in nyc in that they aren't as private. nyc's buildings are old and have thick walls, so you can play music loud (or just be loud in general) really late and no one'll hear you or be disturbed, whereas l.a.'s are mostly newer. so i dunno if i can find an apt. here that'll really have that soundproof thing going. but houses are such a pain to keep up, and i don't like them anyway. i've never lived in one, but there's just something about them that feels wrong. ok. i also want a walk-in closet with mirrors in it, with a ridiculous amount of room . a big open space somewhere (living room, most likely) where i can dance, with a mirror too (the only mirror in the apt. in which i'm living is a 1/2 one in the bathroom; maybe that's why i'm fixated on them right now ), and maybe some cool lights if i wanna throw parties. and a balcony. a view of something, though i don't know what. as long as it's beautiful, i don't care. a big bedroom, and just enough extra rooms for guests and to store all the stuff my future husband and i will have accumulated over the years . and at least two bathrooms that have showers.
  9. well, first of all, i think walt disney's formula of "make the kids cry once in every movie" is fucking sick. this is in every movie, kids, not just bambi, where the mom dies, or dumbo, where the mom also dies. and i think those two were twisted enough. five-year-olds really don't need to be watching cartoons in dark theaters in which mothers of the main characters (who are usually youths) kick it. but even in alice, there's the scene where alice is beside herself and has no idea of how to get home, after trying her very best, all alone, in a world she can't understand. disney still had to find a way to make the kids cry, even though there was no mama to off. and i've gotta say that, as a kid, in the theater, fantasia scared the shit outta me . after that movie, brooms were gonna attack me at some point... then again, i was way too young for it (4). and it is my personal belief that, if a child is upset and scared shitless, this child should be allowed to leave, even if the older sibling wants to stay. the older sibling should've gone with the parents or one parent without the younger one. but i also like the older movies more .
  10. i thought it was gonna be a beatles post, too .
  11. was this just the other night, or in general?
  12. it always seemed to me that most guys name their penises, while girls don't name anything on their bodies. just wanted to take a poll on that one . * p.s. "private parts" is a dorky-ass term, i know, but i couldn't think of any other that was better.

those people do sound pretty shitty, but consider the sources; they mostly seem to be ex-boyfriends and ex-girlfriends.

  15. did anyone see the episode of "blind date" where the couple went to a tattoo parlor and the guy had the "blind date" logo tattooed on his arm, as a symbolic gesture of the love he'd just found that night? at the end-of-date wrap-up, the girl said she was really impressed that the guy bled for her.
  16. BUMP!!! i'd make this a sticky, but it seems to me that people never look at stickies. maybe i'll change my mind on that... anyway, it's a bump for now .

yeah - spundae's just being a bunch of punkasses and not announcing what's gonna happen. i take that as a bad sign, though; one would think they'd have the info out by now if they knew what was up .

thanks . no, he doesn't have a name. i just stole this owl from a quiz on the 'net. but the only three avatars i've had have been owls (to correspond with my screenname). first i had woodsy owl, who's a mascot for our national forests, and used to say, "give a hoot, don't pollute!" but now says, "lend a hand, care for the land!" because bush is in league with big industry (those who pollute) and a massive tool. and my last one, that yellow eye, is the logo for wise snacks (potato chips, etc.).
  19. committing yourself to something you're not entirely confident you can do just to try to be helpful or nice to fill in for someone can very easily lead to disaster. it's not your fault if you can't do something; whoever's asking will just have to find someone else. but you are partly to blame if you agree to the situation of which you're not totally sure and then find out you're in over your head. tune in tomorrow.
  20. don't worry; this isn't in response to anything that happened to me - not recently, anyway .
