  1. expanding Circus doesn't help matters - its all in the bookings. when is the last time someone complained about Circus being full and couldn't get in?

Vanguard has big $ behind it and great booking contacts there with Pasqual....

Avalon is still going strong...and if/when Crobar opens up next year on Hollywood Blvd as is planned, it will make it all that much harder.

  2. lets just say i've been clubbing a LONG time and have a good knack for getting in quickly. i do have some good connections and a friend of mine that lives there is a big partier and friends with a lot of VIP hosts as well. life's too short to deal with waiting in line. :hat:

  3. i think the longest we waited on Memorial Day weekend was 20 minutes and that was at Vivid of all places :gang:

at Pure on a friday we got in after 15 minutes (did a walk by first at 10pm and didn't even bother)....also didn't wait at all for Mix and Ice for the Tiesto/DD night...

i should clarify - i don't mean to say there weren't huge amounts of people trying to get in at the same time...there was.

  4. Mood's music is that hip hop/rock blend you hear out a lot right now. Wed is def the best nite but its really though to get through the door on that nite. venue isn't too big. think Ivar but smaller for the crowd and music.

  5. to the uninformed...lasvegas.com has entered into an agreement with vegas.com - for a reported $12 million lease fee - vegas.com is going to run it now with a similar look/feel though it will be a bit different. $12 million isn't bad for a domain name!

regarding the deal at Ice...seems like you may save a couple of $ but its nothing special...if you don't drink a lot its not worth it.

  6. One club doesnt make a city. Avalon is one of the only venues in LA where you can hear electronica. Every other club is hip hop. And Ive got two other words for you "Bloods" and "Crips".

On a plus for LA clubs, Shaquille O'Neil was denied entry into a club two years ago because he and his 11 man "posse" all showed up in tshirts, jeans, and sneakers. Somewhere Kobe Bryant was laughing his ass of.

    :shoot:

actually - that was at Light in the Bellagio where Shaq...and other athletes have been turned away for sneakers, etc.

and you really don't see any gangbangers at the clubs either....though there is waaaay too much hiphop played out. :gang:

  7. yep - Moonshadows started their sunday afternoon party a couple of weeks back. some friends went recently and said it was packed - though that was the beautiful sunday we had earlier in april...

the Bud Brothers are residents with special guests...

there is also a thursday nite party there as well....

  8. while i'm not a big fan of Circus...i can't think of one good reason an employee would do that.

obviously we hear stories about people getting their drinks spiked with GHB or roofies, etc. seems like you made it home okay...when i've seen people OD on GHB (unfortunately), they pass out at the club and are taken away via ambulance there. it seems strange that you were drugged, partied the rest of the night away, and made it home.

  9. I'll be heading to lights out first, then over to space for morillos morning session.. so i have a quick question. Will tickets be any less when I arrive at 5-6am to enter space? Should I pre-purchase to avoid a line? Not sure what the best course of action is... any suggestions would be great

    :bounce:

tickets won't be any cheaper and possibly more...

they are touting doorprices of $50, but it was $60 last year....and the presale tix only guarantee entry until 5am i think...having said that, last year i walked right in at 630am the night that Tiesto was in the main room and Morillo was supposed to play the terrace after Crobar (was Sander instead).

  10. he played at Godskitchen at the Henry Fonda theater.

i'm a HUGE Morillo fan, and its the first time i wasn't real impressed with his set. first 2 hours were pretty boring, only picked up in the last hour.

i don't have the new album yet but don't remember hearing the song w/P Diddy that's being played nowadays.....

overall disappointed...but i'll see him in Miami most likely at the WMC :)

  11. all SoBe clubs have to ordinarilly close at 5am. the clubs in Miami proper (Space, Envy, Nocturnal) have 24 hour liquor licenses - given primarily to help development in that area. In Florida, each city/county can make their own rules as to when alcohol is sold. In 2001 and 2002, Miami Beach allowed the clubs to stay open until 7am on friday and saturday nites. However, last year they did not allow for the extension. I have no idea this year if the clubs will close at 5 or 7am in Miami Beach - i imagine soon enough you can figure it out based on the hours posted on the party lists for the weekend.

  12. i've heard that Circus has been remodeled a bit - i'll be curious to see what it looks like now.

remember even before Spundae moved to Henry Fonda...it was far from full in 2004 except for the nights they pull the top trance DJs. i don't expect that to change.....

realistically it comes down to your music preference...if you want Ferry/Armin, CL, etc., you'll be at Circus with the kiddies...

if you like house, prog, etc., you'll be at Avalon....

the 1 big difference is Avalon gets a lot of people that go there b/c they have fun there on a Sat nite, regardless of the DJ.

NOBODY goes to Circus for that reason - they only go for the DJs...

or to sit in an Asian E-Lake :)

look at the DJs upcoming at Avalon:

    Hybrid

    Sasha

    Roger Sanchez

    Steve Lawler

Laurent Garnier (until VISA problems forced his cancellation)

    upcoming Spundae DJs:

CL, G&D, DJ Vibe (now that's a good booking!), DJ Dan, Charles Feelgood, D:Fuse, Armin...

i'll go where i like the DJs.....not based on the club.

  13. i can actually walk to Park La Brea....its a huge complex - largest west of the Mississippi....great location IMO.

you could look in the Sunset Blvd. area in WeHo....yeah you MAY be able to walk to more stuff, but the traffic can be really bad on the weekend nights...and i really don't think the difference is that much...i love being 5 minutes east of Bev Hills, 5 minutes SE of WeHo and 5 minutes south of Hollywood :)
