  1. there was a big article about this a couple of months ago in the Los Angeles Magazine.

the bulk of the venue will be occupied by Social Hollywood, a large restaurant run by the China Grill organization. a smaller part will be a new bar run by the former manager of either the Skybar or the restaurant in the Mondrian, i forget exactly. Social was supposed to open in late 2005, then by Valentine's Day. Now, as you said, April 2006 is the target and it appears to be on course for that. a friend peeked his head in the venue the other day and said a lot of work was going on but it looked relatively near opening.

also, the new Pam Anderson backed venue on Hollywood Blvd. between Bella and L Scorpion is ready to open and just awaiting its final permits.

  2. wow. i'm am totally ignorant as far as this is concerned, both as a non-drinker and as someone who has only been vip a couple of times.

it always seemed to me, though, that the whole point of blowing an insane amount of bucks was that the table could get a bottle of whatever and do what they wanted with it. that meant that they could avoid walking back and forth to the bar, have a comfy place to hang out, have a roomy place with a good view (generally) to hang out, and that they could make their drinks come as fast and strong as they wanted.

are you guys saying that my assumptions about the drinking part are untrue? please elaborate.

no - you've got it down - that's the point of bottle service along with the 'vip' feeling/service. its just the fact you can't mix your own drinks anymore that changed.

  3. wed night is not their biggest night.

    AM spins all diff nights.

i guess i meant that is the night they are known for due to the heavy celeb presence, not necessarily the nite they put the most people throw the door.

  4. they have different promoters there every nite so take that under consideration. Wed nite is their biggest nite promoted by Brent Bolthouse and DJ AM spinning. i heard BPM magazine is co-promoting fridays so i've been wanting to check it out but haven't bothered.

  6. BPM Mag had a great article a few months back about a top LA door person (female)... I luved the quote she gave .. something like "If you know my name but Ive never met you, doesnt do anything for you. And if you pronounce it wrong, get out of my friggen liine" lolllll

i think that was 'Pantera' Sarah - she does the door for some of the Brent Bolthouse events
