  1. except if you would actually like to see a long set by someone who's at Space (or anywhere else). Ultra is great as a whole experience but its not the same as going to hear someone for 6 hours....
  2. You'll note i didn't go and i'm not bitching about it. I'll repeat that Exit is the worst managed club in the city on crowded nights. If it was too crowded to "move an inch" they shouldn't have let so many people in. If they had a crowd control issue at the coat check they shoulda slowed down the door (like they do at roxy) or had staff letting poeple know about other coat checks. If they set that up and manage the door properly and have sufficient facilities for the size of the club you can handle 8000 people. I've been to giant ballroom functions in the winter at hotels and they handle the coat check just fine. Its just a question of staffing it / running it properly. If its too crowded for staff to clean the bathrooms then the fire marshalls should shut the place down - there's no reason why you should be treated like herded animals just so management can pack in a few more people and make more $$. And as for you telling me how it is about clubs i've been hitting clubs all over the world and the country for more than 15 years and Exit consistently does the worst job. They have these problems EVERY time they have a big night there.
  3. you're a fool every club has these same issues. if they are efficient it takes the same amount of time to check your coat as to take your ticket at the door. I don't recall giant lines at roxy's coat check for PVD, twilo's, centrofly, etc. and i've been to each on nights when the line outside was around the corner. Since the line outside moves slowly that means only a few people at a time are trying to check their coats. its called staffing appropriately. i've also never seen as much shit and piss on the floor as there is at Exit. since they are largely all individual stalls its no big deal for them to close them one at a time and clean them. I don't care about it being hot but what ruins a night is spending 2 - 3 hours on line INSIDE a club trying to check a coat, go to the bathroom once, and get a single drink. again - that's why i don't go to exit. I've never had these problems to the same extent at any other club in NYC.
  4. Exit has had years to "fine tune" coat check, bathrooms, etc. and never has. They absolutely have always been the worst club for managing an evening. I've never EVER seen them clean a bathroom, pick up a bottle from the floor, or have coat check that didn't involve lots of people cutting the line and staff trying to rip you off when they have a crowded night. = why i don't go there anymore regardless of who's spinning. Its really to bad cause its such a great space and can have a fantastic atmosphere inside.
  5. i agree underworld was amazing last year - i mean i'm not even talking about the quality of their set, just seeing them in a huge amphitheater after all these years
  6. Hey Lainie - just to check if you buy them online they don't mail them to you? you bring your internet receipt and they'll have you on a list at the gate or something?
  7. right on - if he really wanted to know who someone was he'd post the pic so we could see it without having to create an account
  8. Ahhh the Mandarin Great great place and nice a relaxing. If I were coming down for the whole week i'd consider it, but i'm only gonna be around 3 days so not really needing the hotel except for the shower aspect - gonna stay walking distance to all the beach parties.
  9. they're not available on-line yet so if u don't live down there ya gotta hold on a bit longer
  10. yeah things booked very early this year. DaVe - was great bumping into you and your water cooler @ Ultra last year
  11. Hi CCD! Thanks for sayin' hi the other day - i think u musta been drunk cause you gave me the evil laugh Hope I'll run into u in Miami as usual
  12. Perhaps when they have it all tweaked nicely and stuff (which is very infrequently). Typically my friends and my ears hurt during some tracks while there and we leave with the "bad" buzz in your ears. Never happens at Arc...my point is that its consistently very good and full / used well by the dj's there.
  13. if that means that he's gonna be left with <1000 people a night then he's gonna fail. JR isn't an idiot - for a club that size to succeed they need to pull numbers. I don't think the problem is that he's trying to get gay bashers out...those folks aren't really going there anyway. It may well be that JP wasn't pulling HUGE #'s near the end, but this is at the beginning for JR - should be all kinds of excitement and packed houses and its not. I also agree that SF has never had a GREAT sound system. Its just decent. If you ever walk out of there and right into ARC you can hear the difference quite clearly.
  14. i want to really badly but have WAAAAAY too much work due this week. I'm sure all the normal major tech heads will show.
  15. yes it was a very nice night and a pretty decent crowd
  16. the question about why promoters post here? the three of you newbie kids are the reason - lots of people read here without ever posting. Many people who post here don't need the board to find out what's going on, just to pass the time away.
  17. You know - that's fine if you're visiting but for all the people who live here $100 a night is a bit steep for going out on a regular basis. Having lived here forever and gone out here for more than 15 years I can say that there's a difference between what you'd spend for a "big night out" in NYC and what you should have to spend just to go out as a regular in the scene. There have always been a few places in the city that were just too much $$ for an every week spot if you didn't have lots of dough, and that's fine. But for a big club $30 at the door should be enough. They'll get their share of bar money and VIP bottle stuff - no reason why the $50 a night crowd shouldn't have a home there too. if you're from outta town its a whole different thing - when i travel and hit up clubs I always spend $$'s but that's a different situation.
  18. um..don't you think u'r taking this a little too far? i used to go to SF before it moved and shit too but even if i hadn't actually seen 9/11 live and in person i'd never compare a club closing to something like that. i haven't been to SF much lately but it always felt great knowing it was there if i felt like staying out or even getting up on a sunday morning and hitting it up.
  19. what's funny to me is u talk about a reunion but i don't even recognize you're name...guess u'r only talking about SF board newbies from the last year? insweet i do know though
  20. not sure if u'r being serious or joking... there are VERY few places were people are really fans of the club. If they are its often only on a certain night cause there is a consistent vibe there. Even Twilo people were generally either friday or saturday night fans but not both. Even though Friday's had different dj's they were all the same genre and general vibe. SF firdays and saturdays aren't the same at all. And since only JP has spun there on saturdays people who went there were fans of HIS music and the vibe HE was associated with there. personally i think SF is a pretty cool place in general and i've had a great time there on the odd night that DT or someone spun but...Saturday SF heads are JP heads.
  21. LOL What a great night that was. Last time I saw lots of the old crew at SF all partying together As I recall i even convinced Lavendermenace to come with me for her one and only appearance there (she promptly got lost for about an hour )
  22. I wanna see 511w28thst's credentials...he sounds like one of my old fake screen names
