  5. I went as well. Stacy Kidd did a good job. His selection was great as expected but I wasn't feelin the fact that he played all his tracks at a significantly faster speed. But he did his thing and the crowd responded. After a while I just forgot about the increased speed and got caught up in the cypher and housed with my boys. Overall, it was a pretty good experience. However Stacy was the only part of it I liked. Just my $0.02. Peace.
  6. I understand someone who WON'T come but I don't get how someone CAN'T come to Dream. I've never been to Dream and am not pressed on going. But why would someone be able to go to Nation, Five, Edge, etc but not Dream?

  9. Chuck Norris says to join the Border Patrol. No day is the same. haha. Sorry to hear about your discontent with your current situation. You could always try the Government. It's pretty stable and secure as far as not worrying about getting fired and they will work with you on your schedule if you go back to school. Just a thought. Peace.
  10. For house: Tuesday @ Modern is a very good party to hit for House. It's on M Street in Georgetown. Red on Saturday and Sunday is good (Thursday-Sunday is House but those are my favorite nights) Five on Saturday isn't bad. They bring in some of the bigger names every now and then. Afterlife @ Latin Jazz Alley on Columbia in Adams Morgan is the 3rd Saturday of each month. Good party to hit as well. http://www.outofbreath.com for listings through the week
  11. There are a lot of DJ's in DC who do mix CD's on a fairly regular basis and hand them off... this is one aspect of DC I really like and know many others are happy to be a part of as well... this is a VERY important tool we can use to spread music amongst ourselves, and to get other people interested in this music.... so, in an effort to push our own talents a little further, I have a question... Which do you prefer, getting a mix CD from someone local or picking up a big name DJ mix CD from Tower ? Why ? Is it just because of different musical styles, or are there quality issues with the local handout CD's as far as sound quality, mixing, etc ? Do you get tired of hearing a mix with a few flaws in them, and end up letting them go by the wayside in favor of the masterfully mixed, perfect, homogenized mass production CD's ? I noticed on some peoples top 10 mix lists that quite a few people listed local DJ mix CD's on their current rotation, and that's hot. I'm just wondering if there is anything DJ's think they can do to make those mix CD's just as good as the retail mix CD's or if they already are just as good as the retail mix CD's.... Just a question... Peace
  12. You don't have to sign the email list to enter the site. Just click the graphic or the "enter" on the front page and you can go straight to the site. Don't feel obligated. The choice is yours.
  13. Just wanted to give a heads up... This is not the official post or email I'll be sending out, it will come later. But I'm having a Site Launch party for my site, OutOfBreath.com on November 15 (Friday) @ Club Five. Dj Analyze will be opening up for DJ Roctakon who is coming down from NY. At 3am, Sam "The Man" Burns will be spinnin House music until 5am. There will be some giveaways and guestlist is easily available. To get on guestlist, go to http://www.outofbreath.com and join the email list and choose whether or not you want to be on the list for the party before midnight. Admission is free when you are on the guestlist. No dress code. 21+. There is something going on the next day, November 16 (Saturday) that you might want to check out also (for all ages). Just go to the Special Events section for more info. Any questions or comments, just email me at frost@bboy.com AIM: Frost350 or reply here. Thanks. Peace.
  14. I thought dancing was already banned in DC. ha. Can't go to Georgetown and b-boy without getting kicked out. The reason we got this past Friday was "There are residents here. You can't do that." On a FRIDAY night on the Waterfront, we couldn't DANCE because of the residents. Yet hundreds of loud, drunken fools can stumble and yell to each other around the same space we were dancing. THEN, they get to go to their cars, drunk, and drive on the streets, potentially killing pedestrians or other drivers. But we can't just dance. Sorry for the rant. Maybe for another thread. Peace.
  15. Word, Vicman, I know about that whole deal with the regulations. I'm not actually thinking about starting a new club. It was more along the lines of if someone were to start a new party at an existing club venue or bar. But good lookin out. Peace
  16. I could be VERY wrong but that might be where Black Cat is now. If I understand correctly, Black Cat is now where Cage used to be. And I think that might be right next to 14th and Swann. Not sure, I might not be on the same channel but that's what I gathered from going to the Antibalas show this past Saturday. Parking isn't all that bad in that area but it is on the shady side. However in my opinion, parking is the worst in Adams Morgan. Even around Five and Red you can find close parking relative to Adams Morgan. But I still like Adams Morgan area. Just got to get there early and expect to walk a couple blocks.
  17. Don't get me wrong. I go to spots for the music and for DJs. I'm a dancer and like to go to spots where I can dance, no dress code, dope music, etc. My point was, if you were to check out a new party, and didn't know much about it, where would you most likely check it out? If you liked House, and saw it was a house party with no dress code, low/no cover, etc, which area of DC would you be more likely to check it out? Adams Morgan, for example, is somewhat hard to bring people in because of the parking. Or Georgetown is more known for jiggy/dress code spots. But your answers are well-received and I'm looking for more. Thanks. Peace
  18. Just a question I thought I would ask. I'm curious to know where in DC many of you would PREFER to party. I know the buzz-heads would go to Nation in SE, then theres the Adams Morgan people, Georgetown, wherever. So where's your favorite areas? You don't really need to name venues. Do you like 14th, 18th, Adams Morgan, Georgetown, SE, NW, NE, SW? Let me know. I'm sure this could get interesting. Peace.
  19. Everyone seems really bent up out of shape about this whole Buzz thing. Now I'll say this, I'm not really upset and I haven't been there since November. I've moved on because to be honest, the only reason I went in the first place was because I was underage and there wasn't much going on. I'm what many call a Househead and since I became of age, there's PLENTY to do in this city. Mostly small parties but why does everything have to be a huge deal. There's plenty of places to find parties too. If you want to find what's goin on in the hiphop, house, and soon maybe some trance, scenes, you can check my site (shameless plug but that's why it's there, to be used). Most parties on it are House parties but as more people check it out and hear about it, I get more submissions. A good party to hit on Fridays is Open Door at Erico on U St. It's small but it's fun and educational. Now is the time for people to expand and become educated. I could say more but I'm sure people are taking this as a rant. It's just my $0.02 and you may take it as you wish. Peace to all.
  20. A one time BUMP. Won't do it again
  21. OutOfBreath.com DC's newest nightlife guide is up and running. There are a few sections that will be updated ASAP (links, special events, media) but the weekly events section is up. At the moment, it is dominated by House parties but will include Hip-hop and other parties once they are submitted. Please check it out and hopefully you will start using it as a reference to what is going on in DC. The message board is also up and running. The site will soon include pictures of parties thrown by or affiliated with OOB, streamed DJ mixes, and more. Once you see it for yourself, please feel free to leave feedback on the message board or even email me at frost@bboy.com. Thanks and much love. Peace. Frost
