  1. I'm finally making it over to the library later today and was wondering if anybody had any advice/suggestions on some good reads. I'm going to get the books listed below (and would love to hear your opinions on them), but feel free to recommend other good reads. Thanks! Disco Bloodbath - James St. James Valley of the Dolls - Jacquline Susann Whatever I can find by Candace Bushnell (author of Sex and the City) Anything else?

    heroin

I think heroin is a natural derivitive of opium, found in poppies. There may be some chemical synthesis used in manufacturing the stuff sold on the streets, but it, along with opium, morphine, etc. are all organic in nature. I can understand morphine being created in a lab, but I don't think heroin is.
  3. Do you mean salad oil or car oil? For salad oil, wash them immediately in warm water (cold won't break the oil down.) If you've already washed them in warm water and the stain is still there, then I think you may be out of luck. Maybe there's a hints from Heloise or something that you could find online.
  4. Mine usually do too, that's why this was such a pleasant surprise.
  5. I took off work last Thursday and Friday to go out of town and it was a little difficult for me to get up early this morning and drag my ass into work. So, I grab some coffee and check my email and find out that my company is giving us Monday, July 7th off as a little present, in addition to Friday, July 4th (4 day weekend baby!) AND then I get another email saying that our parking garage has been overcharging us, so we will not have parking deducted from our weekly paycheck again until January 2004! So, I scored a nice little vacation and an extra $100/month. I love Mondays (well this one at least)!
  6. http://entertainment.msn.com/news/article.aspx?news=126121 Sorry, but what a bad idea to have a quarter of a million dollars of jewelry in your bag, even if she hadn't accidentally checked it.
  7. The amount of caffine in tea is minute, something like 5 mgs or something (unless it's black tea, which has more caffine than coffee.) There's not enough in there to be considered bad for you and I only drink it 2-3 times a week anyway.
  8. I always drink a lot of water and nothing else (well, except for alcohol on the weekends, which is something else I should cut back on if I want to lose weight. Sometimes I drink skim milk or green tea too.
  9. What can I say - Sopha does a body good!
  10. I decided last night to add carbs back in at breakfast and lunch. They give you energy and I can't imagine feeling wiped out and having a headache every day. I've been miserable. I figure that as long as they're healthy, whole grains like unprocessed oatmeal and bread (Whole Foods kinda stuff) and that I don't eat carbs for dinner, then I'll be fine.
  11. No, I stay away from all that herbal speed crap like Metabolife, etc. I used to eat a packet oatmeal w/ 1/2 a banana for breakfast, now I drink a yogurt smoothie that has all the vitamins, protein, calories of a full meal, I have a banana for morning snack instead of a granola bar, for lunch I used to have a sandwich and apple and now I eat a can of tuna with lemon pepper and an apple, then I have a small yougurt for afternoon snack and instead of pasta, carry out, fast food, ice cream, etc. for dinner, I eat a regular portion of chicken or salmon with vegetables. So, I've really own cut back significantly at dinner time. I think I'm eating a normal amount of food, but maybe my body is disagreeing with that b/c I used to eat so much in the evenings after work. I'm also wondering if the no carbs thing has something to do with it too.
  12. I just put my self on a diet and have had a steady headache for the past 3 days now. I completely cut out carbs and significantly cut back on my portion sizes, so do you think my body is just adjusting? I will of course seek medical help if this keeps up, but I've never really dieted before, so I though this might be a normal effect. Anybody experience this (or any other sympotoms) while dieting? Is it normal, does it go away, etc.?
  13. It's probably speed and not coke. Most speed that I've seen (on TV, documentaries, article photos, etc. - never in person) has a light to medium pinkish tint to it.
  14. Sorry I went off on a tangent w/o explaining better.
  15. You are correct, next category? Perhaps porn stars of the 80's for $400?
  16. I was responding to a vibe I caught from some of sassa's earlier posts, which were about society in general. I am def. pro-life when it comes to cases of the mother/fetus being in danger or rape and incest.
  17. The bottom line is this - it is so easy in today's society to blame everybody and everything for your problems that nobody has to take responsibility for their own actions anymore. It's quite disgusting and really makes me sick to my stomach.
  18. I'm not sure if there are any people on this board that may be interested, but it's worth a shot. A friend of mine is trying to sell 2 lawn seat tickets to a Dave concert on Friday, June 27, 2003 at 7:00pm in Bergettstown, PA (Post Gazette Pavillion at Star Lake, see link below.) He paid $85.20 for both of them and is only asking $75 for them. If you are interested (or know of someone who may be), feel free to PM me and we'll arrange to get him his money and you your tickets! P.S. All the DC, MD & VA area shows sold out so quickly and this was the closest area he was playing at. http://www.post-gazettepavilion.com/
  19. I knew from your recent posts that I could count on you for good, solid advice on any subject matter! J/K! How goes it?
  20. It is scary to think about, but I really can't see this decision being overturned. I can see there being serious, forceful efforts made to overturn it, but there are way to many people that would fight it, and with the way civil liberties are these days, it would probably be (and should be) considered unconstitutional to deny women this right.
  21. I think that she thinks she is god's gift to this earth, which really bothered me when she was in Destiny's Child b/c she constantly had to be the center of attention and the other girls in the group got no recognition whatsoever (see - I don't even know their names!) Her performance in the latest Austin Powers was an absolute joke as well.
  22. I thought she was kind of trying to look, act and dance like J-Lo the whole time. She is a pretty girl with a great voice, but I can't stand her.
  23. Here's a little something CNN put together for the 25th anniversary of the decision that details her now changed stance on the decision. http://www.cnn.com/SPECIALS/1998/roe.wade/stories/roe.profile/
  24. What do you all think about this site/store? When I visited NYC in December, I stopped in there and was quite impressed and bought some Stila products. There aren't any stores near me in Baltimore, so I was thinking of ordering off their website. I like how they put swatches of the actual cosmetic/product instead of a block of color. I'm hoping that this represents the true color better and more accurately. Anybody order off the website before? Were you satisfied with the color of the product? Did everything arrive ok? (I'm kind of worried about blushes and eyeshadows breaking during the shipping process.) Please let me know what you think... Thank you!
  25. I heard on the radio this morning that Norma McCorvey (Roe) has decided to go pro-life and wants to appeal/reverse Roe vs. Wade. I couldn't find an article anywhere, but if I do I will post it. Anybody else hear of this? Thoughts, opinions? Do you think that it is even minutely possible that this decision will be overturned?
