I have no problems with understanding technology. A few years ago i probably could have written software to mix music myself. My problem is it use to be someone saw a DJ and was captivated. Saved up money for tables and a mixer etc., bought vinyl and earned his way. Now for a few hundred bucks and connect to soulseek you too can be a famous DJ. I just feel some people work hard to be who they are and some use technology to make up for what they can't do. How long will it be before some clubs hire just some guy for 5 bucks an hour to match beats on a laptop like its a jukebox to save some money. As far as what someone said about Jersey. Jersey is commercial. The reason some of the clubs are not doing to well or have gone under is just that. The average Jersey person going out just wants to dance to what they hear on the radio and drink with thier friends. The true club heads always went to the city. When you brought non commercial music to jersey in all the clubs, the commercial crowd went elsewhere. Whoever said something about JP using a laptop in the booth. Good for him he can pre program his tracks for long K holes. They guy is garbage and would never make it outside of NYC. He just flat out sucks and will always only play to a bunch of crack heads who are so shot they couldnt tell good music from bad until the sober up. Let him compare to Tiesto who can open for the olympics. Technology has good and bad points. I just think too many people will get jobs taking the easy way out. youll see the DJ sitting at the bar for half the night doing shots with his buddies.

i agree. if it was the other way around people would be laughing thier asses off. The Red Sox not only got into the world series but they made the biggest comeback in sports history. i can't stand getting these texts. Especially since I don't go to clubs really anymore. I think Prime has a good idea start annoying the promoters back. Call like 9 am when they are trying to sleep off the afterhours the next day and wake thier asses up.

IMO a friend of mine was right when in conversation i said something about "the jersey club scene" and she said " since when did Jersey actually have a scene". I think the difference between NY and NJ is that in Jersey a lot of people who go out aren't "clubbers" they are just people looking to have fun. So if you are playing hard underground house they aren't going to have as much fun as the avid clubber. Jersey was always a lot of commercial house, vocals, and anthems because people can get up and dance to it. Also relate to it. Since clubs are playing more underground stuff these people turn to hip hop more. If clubs in jersey were playing more mainstream commercial tracks that people wanted to jump up and dance to clubs would get more packed again. NYC has so muhc diversity because of the amount of people in the area. you can find a place that plays the sole type of music you are looking for. So large rooms can handle all the deep hard house that they play. I just don't think hard tribal beats in jersey cater to everyone that would actually go. If club owners are in it for the money. Good for them. everyone might have fun going but to them it is a business not a charity.

YEah and if you don't fuck up they are impressed. I did say i think its one more good tool. However I played drums for a long time. I don't think a band would take me if i got to practice with a laptop.

I agree technology brings new ideas to everything but I dont think too many people would want to go see thier favorite band do a concert at MSG and see one person and a laptop on the stage. I fell in love with dance music because i thought it was amazing watching a person take 2 records ( or CDs now) and just be able to watch him do whatever he wanted with them. To me anyone can type on a computer. It takes more skill to mix Vinyl than CDs i can imagine it takes more skill to mix CD than use a computer. Soon clubs can just buy computers and get the music themselves and program it to do all the work for them. Then everyone favorite DJ is going to be mail ordered from Dell.

What is everyones thoughts of a DJ who just uses a laptop or computer to spin music. Vinyl and CDs are ok to me but I think someone using a laptop is a bit cheesy. ( don't mean to offend its just my opinion). It just seems to me like they are a jukebox and using technology to cover what they lack in talent. If I owned a club and was paying a DJ a couple grand to spin I would expect a bit more than a laptop. I know some who was spinning in Europe last summer and told me the major clubs there don't even let you bring in CD's. ( this is what i was told so it may or may not be true) She had said how they are strict against music downloads and make DJs use Vinyl. I just think with downloads and laptops it makes it so much easier for anyone to say they are a DJ and also makes it harder for those who do spin to find good paying jobs where they can afford to purchase mucis. just seeing what others think of this.

I think people give Clinton too much credit. First he got lucky and was president during the tech boom. This would have happened if Kelly Bundy was president. No one realizes how bad Clinton screwed us. I use to work in a building that housed a Tech recruiting company. They said During the 90's the Tech industry was recruiting 95% of the graduates of IIT ( indian institute of Technology). The is what i was told is the number 1 Tech school in the world. Clinton made all these easy ways for them to come here giving a lot of benefits. This was because we didn't have enough people in that field to fill those positions. So basicallt Clinton gave us the green light to import immigrints to america to fill the tech boom. When the boom crashed and all these people lost jobs Clinton was on his way out of office. Now Bush got to deal with how do we get all these people jobs. There are so many people who were in IT looking for any job because the market fell apart so much. I don't think bush is a great President but he seems sure better than Kerry. With Kerry if someone invaded us most of our cities would be leveled before we reacted because he would be too busy asking every other country what they think would be an amicable way to defend ourselves.
