  1. Well said. But you have to say it slowwwwwwww
  2. Many of you will be aware of the situation concerning Hooj Choons. For those of you who aren't please see the statement at www.hoojchoons.co.uk. Saddened as we all are by the situation, please be assured that none of this affects hooj.com in the immediate future. Key members of staff involved in Hooj.com, one of the few parts of the Hooj set up to do well despite current industry problems, will be running Hooj.com as usual for the time being. Over the next month however, there will be a name and ownership change and a whole new look to the site as time and resources spent fighting the fight over at Hooj Choons are redeployed towards the site. Expect to see a wider range of available music (in all formats) as redeployed additions to the team spend time delving into deeper, leftfield waters. Also look out for a proper DVD section specializing in culty/ arthouse/ quality independent films, as well all music related titles. We're also sorting out web space for an informal radio set up - you send in your mixes, with full tracklisting, and we'll be rotating the best of them (along with contributions from in-house jocks, etc) over a fortnightly basis, from 2.00 pm GMT to 2.00 am daily. Any of you wishing to participate in this, please have the mixes ready for the end of September. Mailing address to follow. All bought promo credits will usable either on Hooj.com for the time being, or the new site thereafter. We apologize for any alarm caused by Hooj Choons' apparently sudden demise, but do hope that the quality service provided by Hooj.com over the last couple of years will persuade you to stick with the successor site. Yours, Hooj.com http://www.hooj.com
  3. Just received this message from our friends over at HOOJ Records UK Sad to hear ____________________________________________ It is with deep regret that we have to inform you that Hooj Choons, as we know it, is no more. Following two years of fairly horrendous financial struggle, during which time we fought to trade our way out of mounting debt problems, we've had to call in the professionals to resolve matters once and for all. Naturally, this has come about as a direct result of: Sept 11/ any middle eastern conflict you care to name/ downloading/ the slump in the global economy/ music industry/ dance music industry... No, the truth is that as distinguished labels, clubs and magazines shut down around us, we failed to react quickly or effectively enough to what was going on. We thought we'd seen this happen before, and could work our way out of it, but this was a different kind of slump. It feels like we should write some kind of mini - obituary for Hooj at this point, but maybe everything that needs to be remembered about us is out there already: a hundred and thirty six releases spanning 13 years, all of them, for better or for worse, trying to live up to our original aim of remaining 'occasional providers of half decent house'. (Key members of staff will be carrying on the work of hooj.com, one of the few beacons of hope amongst the gloom of recent times, under a new name and ownership. Please see separate Hooj.com statement for details at the top of the message board). Its been a long, and until recently, enjoyable ride and we thank everyone for their support over the past twelve years. Yours, The Hooj Mob _____________________________________________ I myself am personally going to send them an e-mail thanking them for providing me with such great promos and hard to find vinyls throughout the years. Best wishes to the Hooj Crew UK. See you next conference. OBBY www.soturecords.com

  15. I myself was there that night. The event was being thrown for Simon's (the owner) birthday. I actually knew what i was about to experience concidering that in those days, DJ Dan was one of my favorites when it came to breaks. I even remember hearing him throw down the electro mix of "Planet Rock" Miami Rocks To The Planet Rock....Don't Stop FX, I'm with ya OBBY www.soturecords.com
  16. I believe you and I have allot in common. I myself was introduced to the underground during the "Fire and Ice" days at the old "Institute". The "Kitchen Club" as well was a stepping stone for me to the underground. Another impressive memory was experiencing "Front 242" live at the "Cameo Theater" which is now known as "CroBar" The track that changed my insight on music was a wicked remix of "U2's - Sunday Bloody Sunday" which I heard at the "Kitchen Club". After hearing such a beautiful re-work....my old school bass and freestyle crave was overpowered by the "sounds of the underground" which I continue to crave in a huge way. After hearing such a remix, I was left with the urge to land this vinyl leaving me to searching multiple underground vinyl shops throughout the States which all ended up being my new source for vinyl's (no more BPM Records). I eventually migrated from dealing with vinyl shops in the states to dealing with vinyl shops around the WORLD. Mainly the UK and Germany. To sum it all up: The Place/Places: Institute (Fire and Ice) and the Kitchen Club The Song: U2 - Sunday Bloody Sunday (Underground Bootleg Mix) The Result: OBBY <-----This beat freak right here Erikamikaze...I can also relate to you as well. I myself remember being the "odd one for liking such wicked sounds. They laughed at me because I was soooo different. I laughed at them because they where all the same. :D PS: Seeing Sasha at "Firestone" in Orlando before he even thought about tagging up with Digweed was also a huge stepping stone for me. Thanks for the reply everyone. Trust me when I say this is my strange way of getting to know everyone better. Peace, OBBY www.soturecords.com
