If you are in a new city, dont ask one person. Ask as many as you can, where to go. On a recent visit to the mdwest, I hit up I think 10 venues in 2 nights based upon probaly 1/2 dozen people I spoke to. I went under freeways to find clubs, down to the river, asked valets, asked bartenders, asked bar owners, asked hostesses. Going to one venue and saying "ah, this is lame, hence the city is lame" is not giving the city the benefit of the doubt. To be totally corny but true - life is really what you make it out to be.

Guys will never be the best spot any night of the week. Awful venue. Shelter is a fiasco for parking any night of the week. If you're cabbing, then more power too you. Cinespace Saturday is crowded. Spider Wed is no longer as hot. White Lotus is very 2003. Makai's crowd is not that hot.

You know ...... seriously .... I read about 3 posts on this thread and then stopped. You know why? I hate these generalizations where someone says "oh, la is better than vegas and vegas is better than spokane and spokane is better than yonkers." You know what's wrong with this whole line of generalizations? Is that they are GENERALIZATIONS. Unless you talk about specifics (best caliber of djs, best venue design, best size/scale of a venue), you are saying something is better than something else based upon your preference, which may not be someone else's preference. For example, you could tell me that the Mercedes CLS is the best car ever. The response is - for what? Styling? Comfort? People go out for different reasons. Some go out to get laid (with anything that walks), some go out to meet only drop dead goregous girls, some go out to just dance for 4 hours and have fun, some go out to hear a specific dj. You cant just say one city is better than another. You have to address individual factors. For example, LA because of real estate prices (much like ny) cant have a 40,000 square foot venue just anywhere. lol. So if you're best city is the one where they can bring in the belly dancers on Winnebagos during Tiesto's 2nd half hour as he is flying through the sky in a venue that pours alcohol 24/7 on the beach, Im sure that city exists, but havent found it yet lol

less just say it this way ... in 2003 the #1 venue through most of the year was definitely white lotus. in 2004 the #1 venue through most of the year was clearly pearl. now there is no market domination like lotus or pearl but clearly the new "it" venues in la now as of this moment are sequel and vine street.
